- Mat Manning is back out shooting rabbits, and this time he’s using a sub-12 airgun to hunt from day and into the night. With the bunnies wising up to his pest control efforts, Mat has paired his Walther Rotex RM8 sub-12 airgun with the Hikmicro Alpex LRF 4K day and night vision scope and is using a thermal monocular to spot rabbits as they venture out when the light fades.

I absolutely love how you do not rush your shot. I know we may not see the ones that go badly, but I can tell you try to give the pest a clean instant dispatch.
I have seen in your other videos that you will pass on a shot if it cannot be a clean shot.

Hi Matt love your videos . I have 2 Daystate’s an older X2 12ft and a FAC Huntsman regal . Both great rifles. Unfortunately the gun shops in my area don’t deal with Daystate any more because they tell me that Daystate aren’t the company they once where . I would love to get a Huntsmen revere . Shame .
I certainly haven't noticed any decline in Daystate. I have the Huntsman Revere (Safari edition) and it's brilliant.

Great shooting Matt. The Daystate is a cracking looking gun, but why no sling studs fitted ? I would be terrified to try and fit them myself for fear of damaging the stock.

I’ve had the alpex 4K for a while and didn’t know you could remove the front lens cap it’s annoying and keeps opening in transit
What about the illumination? That's a very large flashlight you've got mounted there!
It's an infrared light. Invisible to the naked eye and only visible because they filmed with an IR camera.

I see you are running a Dolphin Gun Company Bipod! I have been looking for a Ranger 2, but I'm struggling to find one. Have they been replaced by the Ultralight that you are using Matt?
What light are u using with the alpex looking for a light that would do for alpex 4k lrf on a 17hmr and a 223

Those rabbits were all aware of your huge IR...maybe for those ranges a 940nm ir would spook them less Matt 🤔
I have used 940nm quite a lot, and never found it to make a huge difference. I think the main factor here as that there are two of us out, and we often need to talk to each other off-camera. It certainly adds to the challenge...

Where is the stippeling in the grooves for? Why is it not where it should be? In front of the grooves and underside whole the way up to the polymer.....I don't want a gun for it's fancy look but i want a good grip. I will never buy a gun like that for that price with such stupidities and tralala on it. A hunter will never design a gun that way, only bank rest and tripod shooters can do that 😂
Nothing wrong with admitting you can't afford one mate. Times are tough and all that...

Agree - it's a weird one... I'd hope to have some grip there, the only thing I can think of is that it may be 'soft touch' which is grippy? Probably not, as I'd assume Matt woudl have mentioned it.
Why so much nonsense about grip, your cupping the gun, not throwing it like a javelin. Daft comment mate, it’s a superb rifle.
I’ve got a wolverine r and have no trouble with your so called slipping! I’ve got a pair of macwet gloves that give ample amounts of grip
I wouldn’t buy another daystate if you paid me overpriced overate crap
