I’m not a beginner but I want you to know how good you are for beginners. You are very thorough in your explanations. I always hand stitch my binding on the backside of the quilt. But lately I have been putting off binding my last two projects because of my hand strength. I am going to try doing it your way so I can be more productive Because I watched this video it brought it to my attention WHY I had been putting off the binding. Thank you for your gentle encouragement, it may not have been for me exactly but it truly was! ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
Hi Debra. I use to hand stitch my binding also. But because of a injury to my right side my right hand no longer closes. Stitching it by machine is so much faster. I should have always done it this way. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Ouch! your finger. I made these last Christmas without your video. They didn't turn out as well. This year, I'll make it with ease. You're such a natural teacher. Thank you.
I love your videos. Very clever, easy, quick items to make, especially for last minute gifts. And who doesn’t love Manny. Worth watching to see what Manny will do next! What a hoot!
Thank you for your wonderful tips and instructions. You make it possible for a beginning sewer to create beautiful items I can’t wait to make these rugs. Have a great day and thank you again.
I was thinking of using iron on fleece instead of batting and then "quilting" just the fleece and top BEFORE assembling the mug rug and binding it. Do you think this will work or not ? I am pretty new to sewing and trying different things. I love The Sewing Room Channel. Thank you for all your posts.
You can use any fabric that you like. Cut a flower out of large print fabric, or do a machine applique design. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Sherrill I have wanted to ask for quite a while but I didn't know if it was proper. Can I ask where you got your sewing table from that shows on your bigger baby lock? Can you also tell me what brand it is and if you are happy with it. I would like to get one for my Solaris and I know they're not cheap but I want to make sure that people really do like them and that they are worth the investment. Thanks a lot
Hi Maryann. The table is American Luxury Sewing Furniture Amelia - Model R8301 and you can get it at: www.sewingmachinesplus.com/r8301.php Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Sherrill, I have a question I hope you can help me out. I want to sew the satin stitch straight on some mug rugs around applique. What setting do you use on yours? I have a babylock Brilliant machine I'm using for this and can't find what I need to proceed with my projects. Can you help? Thanks!
Hi Portia. Select your zigzag stitch. For a medium width sating stitch set width to 5.0 and stitch length to .3 For a large satin stitch set width to 7.0 and length to .3 Test the stitch out on scrap fabric to see if you need to make adjustments to the settings.
Hi Giuseppina. Thanks for the suggestion. You can get a free chart on converting numbers from inches to centimeters. Go on the internet and search for "inches to centimeters chart". Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Ug! You'll need to play with your settings to troubleshoot. First, rethread your machine with the presser foot UP to insure your tension discs are open. Second, suggest increasing the stitch length--- 2.5 to 3. Third, can you change your pressure foot's pressure? Lower it by 10% because of the thickness of your quilt sandwich. Last setting would be your tension. Reduce by .25 and look for improvement. You'll learn to love your walking foot!!!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀
Hi Brittani. Maybe you are using the wrong needle. Use a size 90/14 needle. Make sure your bobbin is in correctly, and re-thread your machine. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Scotty an Manny so cute. Nice mug rug.

Hi Dorglet. The iron on fleece will work fine. Thanks for watching. Merry Christmas, and happy new year. 😍
My new machine has the serpentine stitch, I'm now sew happy. How big is your stitch width Sherrill? Just curious about that.
Hi Anita. I recommend setting it to 7.0 wide. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I’d like to do one without the section that you had from the fabric. I don’t have any at the moment. What would I put there instead?
You can use any fabric that you like. Cut a flower out of large print fabric, or do a machine applique design. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

what machine did you.use on this video
Hi Cathy. I probably used my Viking Sapphire. But I also own a Baby Lock Crescendo. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I need these binding instructions because I have to finish a bunch of mat projects
Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Could you put the measurements also in cene meters Thanks
Hi Giuseppina. Thanks for the suggestion. You can get a free chart on converting numbers from inches to centimeters. Go on the internet and search for "inches to centimeters chart". Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
When I used my walking foot, it missed a lot of stitches. Any tips?

@@TheSewingRoomChannel I've been using 80/12 needles so might give the 90 a go
I love that you don’t show that sewing!
Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Pretty, but more fiddly than other mug rugs seen. The tutorial would have been much better if your sewing machine had been used.
Hi Paula. Thanks for your feedback. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Great video. Thank you for sharing 👍
