    I struggled with the same problem on my 05 Yukon, except it was for the rear AUX heater. After lots of diagnosing and realizing there was nothing wrong with the actuator or the control module, I realized that the feedback circuit that tells the control what position the door is in was out of range. It should read between about 1 and about 4 volts depending on the position. If it reads close to zeor or close to 5 volts then the acutator will stay in the extreme position and will not move. Use a volt meter and measure pin 9 of the actuator, it should be the dark blue wire. If its out of range, remove the actuator, open the acutator and reposition the gear then place something at the stops to prevent the gear or arm from allowing it to turn beyond the extreme ends. Reinstall and initialize the control by removing battery power or the HVAC fuse for about a minute. measure pin 9 and confirm your voltage stays between 1 and 4 volts at the extreme end of door movement. Easy fix but complicated explanation. Oh and the actuator pins start at 5 and go to 10. Pin 8 should be missing if our acuators are the same. Good luck.

      Without looking at your car it sounds like an electrical issue where the wires were spliced together in reverse order. I’ve seen something similar with windows where the up wire is spliced into down button so when the button is pressed it produces the opposite action.

    • @cleanhandmechanic6325
      @cleanhandmechanic6325  2 года назад +1

      If it doesn’t blow at all the blower isn’t working. The cause could be the fuse, resistor or the blower itself. You’ll have to cancel out each possible concern.

      If the fuse is good it should measure close to 12V on each side. If you don’t have a voltmeter, you should be able to visually see if it’s broken on the inside or try swapping with a fuse the same size from a component you know is working on the car.

    Was it only blowing AC/cold air through defrost? Or was it only blowing any air at all through defrost? Having an issue with my 01 silverado thats blowing hot air on every setting except the defrost setting.

    • @cleanhandmechanic6325
      @cleanhandmechanic6325  Год назад +1

      Your question relates to 2 different blend doors; there’s the mode door which changes the direction the air blows i.e. defrost, vent, floor and there’s the blend door which simply changes the air from cold to hot.

    • @GSXRgYpSy
      @GSXRgYpSy Год назад +1

      I appreciate the response! I guess my question is, does the mode door actuator have anything to do with the temperature? Or is the blend door the only one that deals with the temperature? I ordered a new blend door actuator, and it should be here tomorrow. Im just trying to get the heat to stop coming out of the vents. My understanding is that the mode door is strictly responsible for vent, feet, defrost ect. & the blend door is the only one that deals with temperature of the air. Thanks again for your help.

      @cleanhandmechanic6325 Word. thanks for all your time. Not only did you release a video but you're taking care of people in the comments. You earned my support. I got about 30 more mins to look at it today & i found that the little rubber elbow (run off) under the ac canister (under the hood near firewall) wasn't attached & it was just leaking down to the firewall. I put it back on the pipe & hit the ac relay in the fuse box with the back of a screw driver & to my suprise the ac started working on every setting (defrost, vent, feet, ect). AC/cold air worked for total of about 60 seconds on every setting before it turned hot again. I plan on swapping the horn relay with the AC relay just to verify thats its not the relay. The new blend door actuator should be here tomorrow so I'll also try that. Once again thanks for the help, cheers.

    Is there a way to move that white gear into the upright position without taking the actuater out ?

    • @cleanhandmechanic6325
      @cleanhandmechanic6325  2 года назад

      Only if the actuator door is functional, sometimes the problem with these doors is that they are working intermittently. If that’s the case change the setting too cold and when it switches to cold air simply unplug the actuator and you will never have to worry about it changing positions again. I’ve done this as well.

      Not quite true, actually I have replaced the actuator on this vehicle. You have to use a short 1/4 extension to get the screws started, you will be upside down and it will be difficult but you can definitely do it. I don’t think I could get a camera view of how to do this without go pro or some type of headset which I don’t have. I’ve had this vehicle 10+ years, maybe I’ll make another video of the repair to help you out. Like and subscribe, I’ll be making videos on the fuel pump, headlight electrical repair and I guess I’ll throw in the actuator.
