They have done many online performances during the pandemic and they ALWAYS deliver no matter what! And yes you are right about something being not quite right. BTS is 7 and will always be 7. It never feels the same when one of them is missing! They ALWAYS leave a space for a missing member during any choreo and they don't sing in their parts which just shows their how strong their bond is! We all missed SUGA during that period! They felt really empty not being able to perform for ARMY for 2 whole years! They really love ARMY and we love them too!

since O.N is an answer to N.O from 2014, the ON intro in this performance is frame by frame the same as the N.O. MV back then. The members descend from the stairs, the individual shots, even the close-up of V's shoes. The black diagonal curtains at the back were white on the N.O. MV and instead of a marching band, they had string musicians alongside them. Check it out if you guys want to compare. :)
One of the reasons I keep binging your videos in this BTS saga is just because you enjoy and let us go with you in the journey. You are not annoying like other RUclipsrs that pause all the time to say the same thing. You pause when you really think it worths the pause. Major props to this channel.

BTS is very artistic, poetic, deep, has levels and they are phenomonal performers. Nobody can come close these days 🤯🤯💜💜 And they always leave a spot for if one is missing, so they still can be included in that way, very respectfull 🙌🙌

ARMY was missing. It was so hard on both of us. BTS feeds off of ARMY, and ARMY charges their batteries! We were so blessed to have seen them at all during the pandemic. 💜
Your observations are so astute, even noticing during live performances that something is lacking when ARMY participation is missing. The fact that fan involvement is important to BTS, to the point that fan-chants are created for us to be a part of the performance and not just viewers, is one of the many things I love about the group. They've spoken often during pandemic performances about how much they feed on fan energy, and how difficult it was for them to work to bring up their own energy themselves without us helping - but that they tried their best because it was important to still give us their best performance. During their recent live Seoul concerts fan numbers were limited to only 15,000 (22% of venue seats) due to Covid policies, and they couldn't stand, sing, or yell. They could only use provided noisemakers. BTS talked in a VLive afterwards about how weird it was to have a silent crowd, with masks on that hid smiles and singing to let BTS know fans were having fun.
I think also somehow Suga is their guts, he makes them feel safe to express bc they know he has got their backs. He supports from behind. And they have also expressed missing Army at online performances and how it does not feel the same. The army give them the energy and rawness

I love the way they line up in "On" according to age before JK's amazing solo (oldesr to youngest). "Life Goes On" is a true pandemic classic and always makes me tear up. Great reaction! (And we all missed Suga, but at least his shoulder is better now.)
I'm glad you did this one. Yes, the energy of the ARMY and interaction of BTS with them was missing. BTS had a tough time with that for almost 2 years also. They did do a 2021 FEST with ARMY audience only on screen too - it's worth a watch, but same kind of thing. I loved the Black Swan intro and the Life Goes On song which was made for us to help get through the pandemic. Thank you for continuing the BTS journey. I'm BTS and Avi all the way! :-)
BTS did not attend any of the year end award shows in 2021 cuz they were on a scheduled break ( their 2nd one since debut in 2013). The next big performance they did was for the Grammy's in 2022. But u can check out the 2017 and 2016 ones if u r interested. Also the MAMA performances till 2020
As a performer not having an audience is a huge deal. I remember thinking the same thing when I watched the recent online concert in Korea. The audience wasn’t allowed to clap, sing, shout etc. They had these clappers and it was NOT the same, we could feel the effect on the boys. It made me sad, for them. They killed it as usual but it does make you feel a little depressed.
I don't know if you have noticed that there's a space among them during their performances. Suga (Yoongi) had an operation on his shoulder and BTS always leaves a space for a member. That's how they respect each other. During this time all of their performances even during Christmas presentation it's either they had a space for Suga or they even used holograms so Suga will be present. That's how close they are.

Well they couldn't do anything because of COVID; no one was allowed to have an audience. We were all basically used to performances without audiences by that time. But I'm so glad you watched it! 🥰 Black Swan was absolutely amazing! Dynamite was amazing! On was amazing! And life goes on was just beautiful! I didn't miss that "essence" that you keep talking about because I'm army, so at my house I was still cheering and screaming when I watched this. I'm still so glad you watched and enjoyed it. I would say watch Black Swan again cuz you didn't mention that and the performance was really a beautiful, unexpected and creative rendition of the song.
It’s impossible to be as good as normally is while missing one member… they’re so close and their vibe off stage def felt heavy… these guys are family but they called him a few times when getting awards or doing interviews lol but 2019 is the GOAT imo lol and most army feel the same lol we still love them all though. You should watch the Grammy “butter” performance that they did 2022 … it was a special performance and omg so good.. they got a standing ovation and I was so proud.. I think you’ll love it since you like the dancing too. It’s iconic honestly. Rise of bangtan Maybe their older music videos? But rise of bangtan is really good outside of their music videos and live performances… there’s a bunch of award show performances … like there is also a MAMA 2019 and MAMA 2018 and they do a different version of “fake love” that is really incredible and a lot of fun

This was weird because they kept up the art and spectacle but it wasnt as much spark as the previous two years. They were really missing Suga and brought a picture of him to all the interviews they’d do. They called him randomly unplanned when accepting awards so he could talk via phone. They say in every way when someone is missing we are still 7. For the last few shows they even decided to eliminate solo songs and only do songs that all 7 could perform. Just wanted to add that this shoulder surgery was a big deal because Suga was injured before their debut in 2013 but lied about how he got injured (hit by a car while on a motorcycle while doing deliveries), he was afraid he’d be let go by company. Because he never got it looked at properly and it put an end to his b-boy dancing. He was in pain for years and didn’t even tell the others the truth till about 2016. Fans noticed him having times he couldn’t lift or move the arm over the years. He tells the story in two solo songs in 2016. Finally taking the 3+ months to get it fixed made us fans relieved and he’s noticeably more perky and active on stage the last 12 concerts.
This MMA 2020 was so comforting when it comes. Now that you have done the MMA performances, I hope you will react also to the MAMA performance. The 2014 with BTS Vs Block B was fun, and its become better years after years.
Yeh the members really struggled during the pandemic.. as performers… they live for that stage… but not having that energy and life from the fandom… it’s impossible to perform to that same energy. Like they were incredible and flawless and did nothing wrong… it’s just that connection and vibe that really was bad for them. They did a few online concerts and added some different fun ways of performing just to make it more like a show for us instead of just the concert but that was probably a lot for them too bc at least they had things to interact with while performing. They were very honest about it and like Jhope said he was like 80% happy I think he said … bc it’s just not the same without that mutual bond and getting to feel all that love and energy while delivering difficult performances still being live. They went above and beyond for the things they put together for these online concerts… but being able to finally see them with a love crowd November 2021 right before the world shut down a bit again…. Was everything… they couldn’t have been happier and some cried during soundcheck bc some army get to be there and are most non criers were the ones hit the hardest right away…. I couldn’t be there but I def cried out of joy for them to be where they belong and so thankful for the army who went and helped them feel like them again.
There’s also a 2016 and 2017 MMA performance as well as a MAMA performance for each year. As far as missing the essence of ARMY and how you can tell the members miss that essence you should watch this performance of Life goes on on KBS where they surprised BTS by having armies appear during the chorus. Taehyung is the only one who knew about it. You could absolutely see the change in the members demeanor when it happens…they were so happy! Would love for you to checkout the docuseries “rise of bangtan” bc it’s a chronological layout of the timeline and journey of bts made by army fans. Took 4 years for them to make and it is the best for international army bc it not only shows us bts before they debut and clips of them practicing, preparing, performing, the struggles and successes along the way… but it really does a wonderful job of explaining things about the industry and culture that really give a better example of why bts is so so special and just things that are impossible to understand without that foundation of knowledge. There like 18 episodes that are 40-50 minutes long and there are additional videos for each episode that is 10-15 min of “bonus content” for each episode ….. it will help you get to know all the boys a bit more now… and to see how drastically different things were for them… and their very very humble beginnings…. I mean these 7 boys shared one room together for years… theee bunk beds and one extra bed lol that’s how little they had… but I guarantee you’re going to love it and get snippets of songs so you can decide to check those out that you like particularly which is cool too!!
In MAMA 2020 they even bring hologram suga on the stage.
