    If you look at John Daniel channel he said the worked with the black inverter you have and it has been improved in several ways. Like larger caps, larger 12v bus bar, different plug. Lower idle draw.
    Thanks for comparing the inverters.

      I am commenting while watching. The victron also has lower idle consumption as I understand. The SW power has 12 to 20 watt idle consumption.
      Again thank you. I think victron is one of the very best, but that comes with a cost.

    I didnt look through the comments - in my case i was an offehore oil field SCR electrican for yrs -
    What im saying ios from experience - also i live in the rural deep south -
    Huricanes and ice storms can and do knock out power off the pole for lengths of time -
    So i use low frequency inverterrs and high frequency inverters -
    The VA is what a generator or inverter can generate for 1 minute as when starting a induction motor -
    A good low frequency inverter rated at 3 kw continues will give a boost of 6 kw for 4 seconds then then possibly 5kw for 1 minute - a high end low frequency inverter will also have a 1 hr rating of 4.5 kw for 1 hr - then the continues rating of 3 kw ( at 78° F) -
    I use a 2 kw low frequency for my house when the power is out - it runs a 1 hp well pump just fine -
    The high frequency inverters that are made by Trace or Xanax will maintane 120 volts as long as the voltage is is good - if the cut out voltage is 10.5 on a 12 volt or 42 volts on a 48 volt - the inverter will generate 120 - on those inexpensive high frequency inverters when there used on lead acid batterys as they drop to 10.5 or 42 volts the AC out put will also drop to 100 volts -
    They seem to be designed for lithium batterys -
    As a general rule you dont want to have a continues draw of more than 20% of an inverters full out put rating -
    My low frequency 2 kw inverters will power my electric wood splitter - my 3000 watt high frequency Li Time inverter will trip out from the surge off the wood splitter - my system is 12 vilt - if your continues max draw is 600 watts a 12 volt system works ok -
    Any thing above 600 watts it better to go with 24 or 48 volts

    All the fuses blow at once, time frame: POP! This is the "Reverse Polarity Protection"! (If you hook up the battery cables backwards! Just touching the cable to the battery post, and Bang!) It also take out the PWM variable speed controller for the fans (Both the MOSFET and a 220uf cap.)

      there's a lot of questionable design choices made with this inverter... But mine is still humming along working better then I was expecting. only time will tell. I think the inverter is inexpensive enough that it would be wise to carry a spare for anything mission critical.

    Old clip, but someone might find this information useful. The output stage of the AIMs inverter is very reminiscent of an inverter manufactured by lingqi. Even the layout of the AC outlet end of the unit, complete with the soft-off button looks like a lingqi inverter. The physical size of the 3 transformers suggests 1500w peak, and 3000w for 20ms (ie, pointless rating). The rating of the IGBTs in the H bridge will be another tell. Combine that with the fact that it shuts down at 1500W with a resistive load more or less cements it (didn't see that part of the clip before starting this post). The 40A fuses are probably just that they ran out of 10A fuses. The lingqi inverters are fairly explode-proof devices. AIMS doesn't make anything from what I can tell. Not even their low frequency inverters. Most of their inverter specs are overstated.

    Do you know of a way to modify (increase a bit) the low voltage disconnect threshold in such inverters? I would prefer not rely on the BMS (lifepo4 battery) to control the load disconnect. From what I've seen most have it set to around 10V (for 12V system) which equals 2.5V per cell for 4s.

    • @halentech2269
      @halentech2269 3 года назад +2

      Victron Phoenix can be programed to disconnect at less then 10 volts I believe but, you have to get the Bluetooth adaptor to program it. Someday I think more inverters will offer this as we migrate away from the "Lead Acid" way of thinking.

    I feel your pain, the pure sign inverter world is full of cheap short cuts. The smaller Xijia 2000W (Peak 4000W) was tested here where it was overloaded and abused numerous times and the overload protections worked well and didn't blow any fuses. I'm guessing the fuses are only for reverse polarity or shorting the DV or AC which would likely do a lot of damage anyway. The video is called CNSWIPOWER Inverter brutal Max Load Test. Half of these inverters found on Amazon wont even start a full size fridge or microwave so the soft start capacitor included on the Xjjia is important for power outages. The AIMS brand doesn't empress me but Victron does! Too bad they don't make a Phoenix with the right specs for your application.

      I run the whole house (staggering things...) on a 5000/2500 watt cheap china inverter ( 140 euros delivered); i heavily modified it, providing in and out finned heat sinks for the IGBTs,and adding two extra 12V fans (.12A,each) to cool the toroid and the multiple tranfos, through two 3 inch holes on the cover, on a temp pwm control, external; this in addition to the 2 stock fans; not bad; the thing runs cool as a cucumber(at ambient temp plus 4 or 5 degrees) even when giving out 2450 watts steady for an hour (fridge+ water heater+2 washing machines); have 6 panels (220 w+,each,3 years old) on the roof, bought used at 85 euros each, that supply a 4 bank of old used car batteries, along with two 12 euro charge controllers,30 Amps, the blue things; i have a 13 meter (13x2 is 26!!) cable with 4 wires of 2.5 mm2, but it loses me almost 10 amps at 29 volts; either i will double it,or switch to a 48 volt system, which i shd have done in the first place...

    I've got the xijia 3000 watt inverter as well the only difference is that mine is 24 volt model and so far its amazing!!! We have 2 air compressors and they start at the same time many times already and they fire up like madness so if anything would kill an inverter its exactly that kind of load !!! So go ahead buy it and plug in a power bar and you are golden

    My question basically assumes low frequency inverters are only really useful for big motors that are a short circuit for when started up.

    I do like the Aims Brand, but in my opinion any inverter that uses the case to dissipate heat is bad, they are cheeping out on heatsinks, because the fans are blowing over the components, yes, but they are not uniformly cooling them down like what a heatsink would do.

    How much power are you looking for? Did you try VICTRON Phoenix 48V/1200VA (1000W)? The Toroid/E-CORE transformer based can handle high inrush current better than the HF Inverter. The double power rating of the HF Inverter is only for about 30 ~50mS only.
    So how well is the Victron tested out? How are the other Inverters tested out with real world loads?

    • @halentech2269

  • @Francesco-wj8mc
    @Francesco-wj8mc 5 месяцев назад +1

    Victron don’t call these inverters LF. Thai have a mosfet bridge and a big toroidale Transformer. They call HYBRID HIGH FREQUENCY.
    Actually, LF inverters are with a even heavier squere iron Transformer.
    They tolérate even 300%

    • @Francesco-wj8mc
      @Francesco-wj8mc 5 месяцев назад

      300^% surge power, and handle for Several seconda. Toroidal handles peak of 200% for seconds.
      HF handles less of 200%, if Are inductive loads, and for fractions of second.
      Constant repeated highly inductive loads all day long and alls days destroy a hf inverter. A LF square Transformer inverter last decades. Is more seaftey for isolation. Hf can fault dc-ac isolation or ground isolation. I never would let running without me a cheap hf inverter at high lével of power. I let alone victron at 100% power for hours

    The real important thing about VA and W is that all inverter have only a VA capacity or capability...
    Va power is absolute.
    Watt power of an inverter don’t exist like absolute value. It’s a lie.
    A 1500 W sponsored inverter can’t have 1500w in any situation.
    Hypothesis n.1:
    If have 1500w max with a resistive load , it never will have 1500w with a inductive load. It will handle only 750w if power a 0.5 PF load.
    Hypothesis n.2:
    If handle 1500w with a motor with 0.7 PF, it will handle 2140w with a pure resistive load.
    So????
    1500w is a LIE in both situations.
    This inverter will have a max VA capability. If would be 1500VA, this is true in any situation. The time that correspond to 1500 w and the time that correspond to 1000w. The inverter ever will be power at 1500va.
    Transformer ever are rated in VA. Like ups etc.
    With VA you can choise the correct dimension of your inverter, based on PF of your loads. With W you can’t, because you don’t know for which PF the watts number is true.
    Probably manufacturers refer to resistive loads.
    This is one of the reasons why a good inverter is calculated at 110 or 120% of the max powers of all used loads. But a cheap inverter say to dimensions at 200% the max hypotethical loads power.
    Even worst: EASUN manual says: if use indictives loads , choose a model with rated power is from 3 to 5 times the loads power😂.
    The same company says you”our inverter is a shit”!!!
    Victron says to chosen a model with rated power slightly greater than max loads power.
    What means this?
