This guy was, still is and will always be one heck of a talented musician! love this song!!! Kudos to you Stan Ridgway for your contributions to music!!!!
thats probably true, but he got no bloody social antennas or well behaviour to speak of. Wtf was that intro with the people sitting in the tent backstage or whatever. Some of the rudest things ive heard from an entertainer it was just annoyingly irritating and showed his lack of sensibility to say the least, what an idiot! But the song is great though!

I can not comprehend that I have only heard this song this year 2022 . I listened to Wall of Voodoo growing up !!!! ( It's normal to listen to every single version of this track , you can possibly find one after the other , Right ! ) Wooaaah Woooaah Woooaah Camouflage
I absolutely love Stan Ridgway. I hope to see him in concert someday. Please come to Chattanooga or Atlanta or in between. I played so many of his solo songs and Wall of Voodoo songs on Chattanooga radio stations.
Saw him in '82 with Wall of Voodoo in San Diego at Golden Hall. Call of the West was just released. Unforgettable show. It was general admission seating so I got close to the stage. Sad WOV disbanded as they were but glad Stan carried on with his story telling.
Amazing song, I learn about this song by the band Sabaton, who make a great cover, and follow to see who write it, amazing song, Stan is amazing, really.
Great song, so good it made me want to join the Marines back in the 80s. 20 years later in the Marines, i still listen to this song. Great job Mr. Stan!!!
I guess people who care about the age of musicians are musicians who never made it and they are old. I'm soon on that list too ❤️ but remember.. oldness come with a smile, the youth dream suicide.
I was a PFC on a search patrol, hunting Charlie down. It was in the jungle wars of '65. My weapon jammed and I got stuck way out and all alone And I could hear the enemy moving in close outside. Just then I heard a twig snap, and I grabbed my empty gun And I dug in scared while I counted down my fate. And then a big marine, a giant with a pair of friendly eyes Appeared there at my shoulder and said: "Wait" When he came in close beside me, he said: "Don't worry son, I'm here. If Charlie wants to tangle, now he'll have two to dodge. I said: "Well, thanks a lot". I told him my name and asked him his. And he said "The boys just call me Camouflage" Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, Things are never quite the way they seem. Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, I was awfully glad to see this big marine. Well I was gonna ask him where he came from, When we heard the bullets fly, Coming through the brush and all around our ears. It was then I saw this big marine, a lotta fire in his eyes. And it was strange, but suddenly I forgot my fears. Well we fought all night, side by side, we took our battlestands. And I wondered how the bullets missed this man. Cus they seemed to go right through him, just as if he wasn't there And the morning we both took a chance and ran. And it was near the riverbank when the ambush came on top of us And I thought it was the end, we were had. Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzing through a bush And that big marine, he just swat it, with his hand. Just like it was a fly. Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, Things are never quite the way they seem. Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, This was an awfully strange marine. And I knew there was something weird about him, Cus when I turned around he was pulling a big palmtree Right up out of the ground and swatting those Charlie's with it, From here to Kingdom come. When he led me out the danger, I saw my camp and waved goodbye, He just winked at me from the jungle and then was gone. And when I got back to my H.Q. I told them about my night, And the battle I'd spent with a big marine named Camouflage. When I said his name, a soldier gulped, and a medic took my arm And led me to a green tent on the right. He said: "You may be telling true boy, but this here is Camouflage. And he's been right here since he passed away last night. In fact he's been here all week long. But before he went he said: "Semper Fi", and said his only wish, Was to save a young marine caught in a barrage. So here, take his dogtag, son. I know he'd want you to have it now" And we both said a prayer for a big marine named Camouflage. Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, Things are never quite the way they seem. Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, This was an awfully big marine. So next time you're in a junglefight, and you feel a presence near Or hear a voice that in your mind will lie, Just be thankful that you're not alone and you've got some company, From a big marine, the boys called Camouflage Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, Things are never quite the way they seem. Woohoohoohoo Camouflage, This was an awfully big marine. (X2) Whoho Camouflage Whohoo Camouflage (Repeat/fade)
Thank god, this wasn't a vid of JIM MORRISON and THE DOORS SINGING "LIGHT MY FIRE"..LP AOR VERSION, with your posting of the lyrics, WE WOULD BE HERE ALL NIGHT..or THE EAGLES- LYIN EYES..lol..
Because he didn’t sell himself out too the music industry. Remember you have to be apart of a satanic cult to be apart of it. And I think Stan is a genuine dude. He sings a song about his record label. It’s good. Can’t remember what it’s called though
I appreciate you for drawning attention to the heroes that derserve it. I cant imagine what they, and people like em go through and I cant imagine it, because they do what is necessary so I dont have to. I just want to say thankyou to them all. Thank you for doing this so I can spend all this time with my family., Dont think that a lot of us normal people dont appreciate what you do. Mainly, most of us with the cognitave capacity do and it is humbling.

Wow 82. So much was going on that year musically. You’re lucky to have seen them then.
Better here than the original studio version. Love it! I remember seeing Ridgeway in the 80s/90s and this was such a crowd-pleaser!
No "e". ;)
The greatest star that ever lived ! Love you stan, big love from Norway💛

Wall of Voodoo and Stan Ridgeway are the reason I fell in love with music.
WOV were great with SR (1979/83).
But equally as good 1984/89 with Andy Prieboy.
One of the great storytellers/songwriters of our era.
A really timeless piece.
Loved this song from day one...👌🇮🇹
Massive top 5 hit here in the uk during summer 1986.

Wow, que rolota, siempre he admirado a Stan, soy super fan desde Wall of Voodo, gracias por compartir y saludos desde México City
Epic one of the most great songs of the world
His singing & regular voice sound noticeably similar, now that he’s older.

Stan is a fucking legend
I saw Stan live with the WOV in the '87, he's the man ...
You could not have. Stan R left WOV in 1983. You saw Andy Prieboy.

Someone needs to make a movie about this song. But they need to do it right.
The ghost is rumoured to be named Cam O'Flage, an Irish marine who joined US military only to save lives, not to fight in wars. He was a man of faith.
Not in the Hollywood of the 2020's. They'd be sure to foul it up.
