@@thegammelier its funny since steam has been recommending me void stranger the past month or so, you made me wanna pick it up as soon as I have time for gaming again :3
You hitting me with Koyaanisqatsi as the opening of the video smacked me with such an intense "that's so raven" flashback of when i watched it in college, oh my god. Completely forgot about that movie. Warn a guy next time! Jokes aside, I have to say congratulations to you for making such a fantastic video. Your exploration of Mizuguchi's work is just as profound and inspiring as his work itself. Your respect for the artform and knowledge of writing / video editing really shines through on this one man. By far my favorite video you've done up to this point. As a budding creative, I'm legitimately ashamed I haven't played or knew of Mizuguchi's work. I've always heard just nonstop praise for Tetris Effect and I kinda just shrugged it off. But to see an examination of why its just so special, makes me realize how naive I've been to not give it a shot. Not to mention Humanity! What a game oh my gosh, that is real potent visual and metaphorically storytelling, while still looking like a solid puzzle / strategy game. I am just enamored by the man's work and have to thank you for bringing it all to my attention. Your editing is on point and you really sold the visuals and music for the more emotionally hard hitting segments of the video. The script and your delivery of it worked great to further emphasize what was happening on screen as well. Just real grade A stuff, you more than deserve the growth you've been getting! Even if you do remind me of wacky abstract art films from college lol. Now if you excuse me, I need to go back to trying to find some sailors.
insaine that a channel that makes 30min videos on a topics I've never herd of that not only hold my attention but are some of the most entertaining videos I have seen in the past month getts so little attention
Once again you’ve managed to pique my interest in a game that’s, for all intents and purposes, tasteful. Not only that but excellent storytelling (an important skill for any sommelier) l! You’re really living up to your name here. The Court of Master Gammeliers should be proud.
When I was in university for computing science one of the classes I had to take was (something to the effect of) "sociotechnological implications of a computerized society". The of the first day was watching Koyaanisqatsi, uninterrupted, in its entirety. I think my life changed that day.
That feeling when you realized the same guy made a bunch of your favourite games. I've never played Tetris effect and Humanity but I will certainly check them out now
Yeah, and congrats on your Void Stranger vid blowing up like that ! It’s gained 60k views in a few days haha ; if your views keep on growing, you might just be the RUclipsr that turns that game into an indie darling 👌 Plus I’d be thrilled if that vid got you more subs : quality screenwriting content like yours focused on videogames feels fresh and exciting ! I loved your God of War vid, it’s the most interesting take on the game I’ve heard so far
Great video :) I’m super happy I came across your channel. Found it through your Void Stranger review (a game I’d played and loved). Now that I see you also have a bit on Humanity, I’m curious : what are some of your other gaming highlights from 2023 ?
@@thegammelier oh and, you may have more than enough games on your hands already and/or you may have already played them, but, if not, I highly recommend two remakes that came out this year and that flew under most people’s radar : - If you enjoy games as narrative experiences : Tactics Ogre is one of my favorite stories ever told in a game (everything Yasumi Matsuno touches is gold imo), and its remake has what I consider to be the best version of its gameplay. - If you like shmups (not sure about this one, but I’m guessing you discovered Void Stranger through Zero Ranger ?) : the M2 DoDonPachi DaiOuJou remake for switch/ps4 is a contender for the title of best shmup of all time. The story, though present, isn’t anything to write home about, but the way it implements its difficulty into its gameplay, mood and theming is 👌🔥👌👍🔥👌🔥
Incredible video. Im in awe that your channel has produced, with so few trys, literal masterpieces. Keep it up, friend
incredible video! came from the void stranger vid!
