    What is your opinion on the best distro for Nvidia drivers out of the box? I have tried three different distros, and it seems like they all have the same problems, with Optimus, external driver, driver updates causing black screens ect.

      your best bet is the gaming distros or installing the drivers yourself which isnt hard. i looked into the optimus technology and it doesnt seem to have very good documentation in terms of linux but there is a reddit post thats like the first few search results called "The Ultimate Guide to Setting Up Nvidia Optimus on Linux" seems like it would point you in the right direction. tbh i dont buy nvidia stuff anymore, i have a machine with a 1660 super in it and it runs perfect with the open source drivers on pop_os and other stuff ive tried. but yea my main machine is amd/radeon so i typically dont have any issues

      @@jdanks Im sort of able to install Nvidia drivers with the Terminal, the issue is that when the drivers update, it screws everything up badly, like usually a black screen no display situation it's always because of Optimus and Nvidia not setting things right. Also my external monitor causes my system to freeze if I don't set everything just right. I can't use pop is it doesn't work with my certain brand wired Xbox controller I don't think any Ubuntu based distro works with it

      @@kyledupont7711 so if you are still getting bios screen and grub boot loading screen you can switch it to i think its like safemode or nomodeset and it will boot into a 640x800 screen or whatever then you can get into the terminal and reinstall the drivers then reboot and you should be good. im also pretty sure you can do it from the TTY as well. the thing is with nvidia they are literal scum about their code and compatibility can be spotty due to them hating their users. dont give up though the community fixes stuff pretty fast nowadays its not like 10 years ago

    Do you know of any linux based distro similar to nomad bad?

    • @jdanks
      @jdanks 3 месяца назад

      porteus, antix, puppy linux, slax etc.. theres a lot of them however only a few are good. the terms i use to search for those is "live usb" "from ram" "portable linux distro". from there you will see theres a ton and realistically if you know what you are doing you can put any distro onto a usb like that

    how to install Nomad BSD?..were is the iso ?to download it ..i tried but i doen't know how to do it,can you make a video how to install this distro?

    • @jdanks
      @jdanks 3 месяца назад

      so the image (not iso) can be downloaded from the downloads page (at the bottom) of the nomadBSD site. you need to uncompress it with something like 7zip and then use balena etcher to write it to the usb. its not exactly like a normal iso bc its literally writing the working file system to the usb i might do a video on it bc its how im learning about freeBSD
