I have no words to describe how I'm learning so much with you. Thank u. I'm feeling connect with the animals subjects due to you. I've been trying painting landscape, architecture, plants, never felt really happy painting them, but you did open my eyes to paint animals, a life changer. Lol. Painting animals it's so good and colorful. And in this video you have an amazing way to teach, as always. thank u.
Thank you for showing us how you persevere & your thought process with the 3 iterations of the sheep -- both interesting and instructive! Wonderful tutorial, Louise, thank you again :D
It's so wonderful to see how your followers have increased, Louise. You are a superb instructor. I, myself, have always found solutions to questions or conundrums when it comes to watercolors. Kudos to your continuous ventures, and thank you so much for your time and visual joy in your own projects. When painting is no longer enjoyable, it's time to walk away for a while.
This is such a beautiful painting Louise! Thank you for sharing your process. I love how you’ve got just enough detail to suggest the wool texture but it still looks fresh and interesting! ..I would be be inclined to overwork it I fear!! Take care 😊💕
You make it look so easy, you explain everything so well. I do know I need to practice more, I find very dificult to decide where to use soft edges or hard edges, when I'm not following a tutorial, so this video has helped me a lot, can't wait to put it into practice , thank you so much
Thank you for the fantastic video and the free one month trial for skillshare! Looking forward to trying some of your full length classes. Also, love the blooper outtakes! They have me laughing out loud every time. A fun way to end your videos.
Before I came across you, on Skillshare first actually, I never thought about my edges. It's just one of the many things I have learnt from you. Thank you for helping me become a better watercolour painter!
Thank you for the video, it has really helped me to understand about wet and dry and how to use the edges to create attention or distance...Also is such a nice subject...I Love the outtakes at the end 👍
Glad I came across your channel!! I’ve been struggling with this medium. Can’t wait to take another crack at it using your guidance. You’re paintings are so beautiful..just mesmerizing!!!
I loved this tutorial, Louise. Very specific and detailed on hard and soft edges. Sheep seem to be a terrific choice to demo those techniques. My question is what do you think about using the two different edges on something typically thought of as a hard edged object? Thank you so much for this wonderful video and for teaching it so well. I find watching you paint to be a soothing pastime for me. XOXOJANE
Beautiful painting. I look forward to painting from your Patreon tutorial. Thank you for mentioning the colored pencil class. I've been looking for a good beginner class as I have a large collection of colored pencils that I used for adult coloring books, but now I'd like to learn to create colored pencil botanicals.
Love your insights on how to use the disappearing and soft edges! But wow, I've been looking for a filbert and the soft but spring-back-to-shape of your filbert at 4:53? That is what I've been looking for and it's not in your description. Lovely sheep! 🤗
I just found your page, thank you for your wonderful tutorials. I got into watercolor a while ago, but your techniques are eye openers. I painted a sheep before, but now I know why it didn't turn out to my liking, no soft edges. Before I start your tutorial, what brand is the red masking tape? I purchased a white one but it won't come off without damaging the paper.
Hi there. Curious - I have bean an acrylic artist for at least 40 years. Just seriously delving into the watercolour world the last few months. I am wondering which of your extra sites would be something I would benefit mostly from. Skillshare or your Patreon site. Enjoying your videos and your teaching style so much. Thank you so very much.
Thanks Sheena. Most of my content and focus is on Patreon but on Skillshare you have the choice of hundreds of classes from others- not just mine. I've written about the differences on my website on this page: www.louisedemasi.com/online-classes and on this page you'll see all of the content I have on Patreon www.louisedemasi.com/new-index
🤗 you seem to be recovering from the -man-made evil- virus! Hope you're well. My eye is swollen this morning from the post-virus sinus infection; antibiotics helping. So what's the 00 brush you're using? I'm so frustrated with mine because it holds no paint/water, but I can see the hairs on your brush are clearly longer (and more hair, too). My riggers are too long, though. I love Love LOVE your soft edge vs hard edge videos! I'm adding more W&N to my collection, but I don't have that red-shade blue yet. It's on the list now! Blessed day for ya! Thanks for a lovely video.
I'm sorry you got it too. It's awful. I've got a sore swollen lymph node now which I'm putting down to after effects of the virus.....so over it. The 00 brush is a Da Vinci Maestro series 35. My favourite brushes. Thank you! 💕
I mention that in the video a few times. Hard edges are best where I want to draw the viewer's eye. Soft edges where I want to convey soft or round objects and where I want to make things look like they are further away - like the back of the sheep.
Hi Louise...I am into watercolours only because of very very few watercolorists...you are one of them....I like watercolours only if it's SLOW...but 99% of watercolours artist do it fast. Unlike you. I'm here mainly because of your slow style. But...I want to do landscape and cityscape SLOWLY..which I had never ever seen anywhere...I'm would be indebted if you could show how to do a landscape SLOWLY! Please comment. If it's not slow...I m planning to quit this medium..and go into pastels or oils.

Thanks Sarah. That's something I have to stop myself from doing as well. It's not easy deciding how much detail to put in and what to leave out.

My pleasure! Thank you. I use Washi tape around the edge. It's low tack so it doesn't damage the paper. I use Otto washi tape.
Very nice... 👌👌👌👌

You should check out Frank Halliday’s channel for landscapes.
I have been painting a few seascapes lately. I haven't tried landscapes yet- if I do I'll make sure they are nice and slow.
@@suel4269 hi ...thank you..saw his channel but its quite amateur...for me atleast
