We have a few channels here in the states that you would be perfect for on cable television. You're a beast man. Thanks for showing us all this cool stuff.
Hi bro!!! Like the way you planned, everything looks nice and clean. If in a future I could go big definitely will do something similar but for saltwater. I enjoy your tips and tricks to do the hobby as simple and enjoyable as possible. Take care
What kind of flexible hose is that coming from the return pump? I'm in the process building a stand and sump for my new 72 bow front and your videos have been a great help, thanks.
Cooling that drillbit is insane! I'm amazed it was hot enough to steam! I love the durso overflow. Noise is my biggest complaint with overflows. Silence is golden. What mic are you using? Your voice sounds so clear! It makes a huge difference.
I will update this tank and do some noise tests for you guys. It literally is silent. You would love it. For a voice over like this, i use a blue yeti on rode arm. I record into garage band on a mac.
Great video Joey! Why did you choose flex pipe over rigid pipe for your supply hose to tank? doesn't it cut down on flow due to turbulence? Just curious, thanks.
Hey Joey. I'm planning on building a tank like this myself and I was just wondering how far from the side of the tank you drilled those holes to clear the 2" x 6" frame.
hi I am Dheeraj frm India. ihave been following ur videos for quite some time.you mentioned before in ur videos that ur going to setup a planted aquarium. when is it going to come up. i am really exited about that project. of course i like all ur projects.
Hi Joey, I know you are busy with the gallery and I am grateful for that as the information coming out from it is priceless. Thanks to you I have fallen in the fishkeeping hobby and about to prime my tank. But still, there is a question I can't answer for certain: you said in this video that you will do a clip about the difference between filtration turnover and display tank turnover. Is that still in the pipeline? Thanks again for sharing your passion with us.
Thanks forgetting back! With the standard fluval edge 23L over the back filter i've never managed to sustain more than three fish. Whenever I have added one fish I always seem to lose one within twi to three weeks. I know it's not a very large tank, I'm only looking to hold five/six fish in total. I've now installed the fluval 206, you can see the installation from one of my videos. I was hoping with the increased filtration and the increased water volume I might be able to achieve that.
I have a project in mind but you probably already done it and I just can't find it. Have you done a 50+ gallon tank with a sump built into or attached to the back of the glass aquarium? I have seen the one on the side wall but I would like to see you do one on the back wall. Thanks...and your videos are very informative. Love the DIY aspect.
Hi Joey cool setup how often do you clean those filter socks, I've been seeing alot of ways on cleaning them just had to ask the Diy guy, I have a 200 gallon with 1 Arrowana only. Thanks
Hey Joey I have a question I hope you can help me with. I'm going to change my regular sand for coral sand this weekend as my pH is quite low for my cichlids. As im doing the change with my fish still in the tank do you know if the coral sand will cause a rapid pH spike or does it leach slowly and change over time? Thanks.
I just bought your book, but could use some advise in the mean time. I just bought a 380 gal.I hope for a good deal $900 its 8'x3''t x28''w it has 2weir boxes each drilled with one 2'' hole there is a160 gal. acrylic tank for sale in my area for $125{ its crazed pretty bad} I could use for sump. But need to buy fast or will be sold. do I need a sump this big? I'm new to fish keeping but trying to learn I'm not mechanically inclined at all. wish I was your neighbor would pay to plumb this system oh how big of pump as well. thanks for your time Lisa in WA.
why the knobs on the valves on top? I'm not a plumber nor do I assume to know as much as you on this subject. Just seems if knobs were on bottom there would be better access. Thanks
If I crushed lava rock small enough, could I use it instead of power sand for a planted tank?

I'm gonna do a first time sump and plumbing build. But I'm going with a side drilled tank and weir glued to the side of the back wall. I did not plan for a third emergency stand pipe.
certainly interesting to see how it was plumbed. I would like to do this to a glass aquarium but I'm not sure how close together I could have the holes without it cracking. I guess it's just luck if it works
+The king of DIY that's put my mind at ease a little. I'll be drilling the base of my aquarium soon. the last time I just siliconed a box to the rear of the tank and drilled that.
ive been watching alot of your videos and i was wondering if the pond armor will work for a saltwater tank because my bottom glass broke and i do not want to pay for new glass if i can use a plywood base
What do you recommend when choosing the diameter of return pipe on large tanks like this? I have a 420 gal tank with a Reeflo Super Dart / Snapper Gold Hybrid (4300⁄2400 GPH) that has a 2" FPT inlet and a 1.5" FPT outlet. I too, was wanting to use 3/4" Loc-line at the tank. Do I stay with 1.5" on the pipe from the pump to the tank and then reduce to 3/4" bulk heads or do I not use Loc-lines and reduce to a 1" bulk head? Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to answer this for me.
this is unrelated to the vid but do you have any good canadian online fish vendors i am having trouble finding any. p.s love your channel super helpfull
Joey can you point me to any online site from where i can order it in USA, unlikely i have to get them ship to Pakistan as these vales, unions, elbows and bulk heads are not available at all
As mentioned in the video, there are a pair of powerheads on each side of the weir. Each one pushing around 4000 gallons per hour. Between the return and the two powerheads, we are talking 10,000 gallons per hour circulating the water. There is no issue at all.
+John Rose sir i am just 15 and my family does not support me on this hobby i am on my own even the tank and everything i bought myself, but the circulation in my tank is not strong so i will be needing that ,might not be expensive for a working man but not me
+John Rose i have a 55 g with teen flower horn just overhead sump, flow of the water that falls from the sump just goes until have depth of the tank so his pop all stuck at bottom

by far my favorite build video

Hey Joey do you make tanks for other people?
good to see some nice heaters in the sump. I have been using eheim heaters very similar to those for the last 10 years or so with no dramas.
Would have never thought to put those hooks under. Joey always thinking ahead.
what an incredible build!
I have a question. The water coming from the top weir. But how the bottom keep clean ?
Awesome system Joey, thanks for the upload.
Your welcome!

Wow, what an awesome system.
Even though you explain it great, I would rather just pay you to set this up for my tank so I don't mess it up lol

awesome work mate , looks great
Another great video, so much info...O the book is hear thanks Joey
Very awesome Joey, I learned a lot and its good cuz I'm about to plumb my tank

I wish I had your DIY talent!!
Slightly off topic question, would I be able to install an external filter system in order to increase the fish stock in a fluvial age tank?
Thanks forgetting back!

+Tim Foster yes, I have done that. I have a full playlist of 40+ filters on my channel.
Can you tell me about the airline? Is it a necessity or would a hole left open do the job sufficiently? I would love some more info on that. Thanks !
hey man when are you going to post the video of the planted tank? , really looking forward to that!!
Hi Joey cool setup how often do you clean those filter socks, I've been seeing alot of ways on cleaning them just had to ask the Diy guy, I have a 200 gallon with 1 Arrowana only. Thanks
Love the system
Can I suggest an awesome design idea for a fish aquarium? Love your video's btw!
I'm new here and was wondering, do you build all of your large aquariums?
Another great video mate keep it up 👍
Thank you. See you in a few days for the arowana move!
Thanks.
I think you need to make a 10 min video of just the fish!
great job! i love it
I just bought your book, but could use some advise in the mean time. Joey, how many liters of k1 did you use in 375, and how many liters of bioballs in 370 plywood?
Love the videos
Good stuff
Hi, what's the distance of the holes from each other and from the edge of the tank? Is there a minimum measurements? thank you
thanks for this! really helped me figure out what to do with my future large tank plumbing concerns. would this setup work with the X-largd canister?
When will you move the arowana and will the tank be bare bottom or have substrate?
hey Joey, is it better to make a sump for 125g or canister filters. Thanks alot
A question, how much distance is there between the top of the Weir and the overflow pipe? How much inch/cm? Also for the Durso. Thnx
why the knobs on the valves on top? I'm not a plumber nor do I assume to know as much as you on this subject. Just seems if knobs were on bottom there would be better access. Thanks

its not luck. The holes will have no less than a 1" space between the simply due to the lip of the bulkheads alone.
+The king of DIY that's put my mind at ease a little. I'll be drilling the base of my aquarium soon. the last time I just siliconed a box to the rear of the tank and drilled that.
what is the mininum amounts of time my filter should turn over the water in my aquarium? I heard 2, 3, 5, 6 times. What do you reccommend?
hey joey, how would you get the 3/4 inch loc-line to attach to a 1 inch bulk head? thanks! love the series!! and all your videos!
Thanks. Just a simple reducer. 1 inch to 3/4" reducer.
ive been watching alot of your videos and i was wondering if the pond armor will work for a saltwater tank because my bottom glass broke and i do not want to pay for new glass if i can use a plywood base

hello joey, how big of a filter I can put in a 20 gal tank , ?? I would like to upgrade the filter
Awesome
Bravo
this is unrelated to the vid but do you have any good canadian online fish vendors i am having trouble finding any. p.s love your channel super helpfull
hi joey, what kind of powerheads did you use ?( brand , model ? )
Ya once the tank matures upload like a 1 hour video of it so I can run it on my HDTV. Like the fireplace on Netflix. I run that a lot!
Do you have to use the loc line pliers or can you put it together by hand?
I can do it by hand. its not easy, but its not impossible.
Joey can you point me to any online site from where i can order it in USA, unlikely i have to get them ship to Pakistan as these vales, unions, elbows and bulk heads are not available at all
Having the weir on the same side the clean water is coming back in doesn't effect much?
As mentioned in the video, there are a pair of powerheads on each side of the weir. Each one pushing around 4000 gallons per hour. Between the return and the two powerheads, we are talking 10,000 gallons per hour circulating the water. There is no issue at all.
+The king of DIY yeah I do remember you mentioning that I just thought they might fight each other. I'm really enjoying this series, learned a lot.
I had actually done this on a few small sized tanks in the past. It work well with the proper circulation.
Please go full time your so amazing... What about the arownna vid?
does anyone know the name of a colorful with many tentacle like decoration that I've seen in aquariums? most commonly with clownfish. thanks
What grade is your arowana
Are you concerned that the return is too close to the weir? I guess maybe it's for aesthetic purposes?
Joey what us the name if fan that circulate the tank and how much money does it cost on you for the power
They are called power heads, and don't cost a ton
+John Rose sir i am just 15 and my family does not support me on this hobby i am on my own even the tank and everything i bought myself, but the circulation in my tank is not strong so i will be needing that ,might not be expensive for a working man but not me
+Brad Suarez some fish require the current, also people use them for in-line diffusers, and even filters.
+John Rose i have a 55 g with teen flower horn just overhead sump, flow of the water that falls from the sump just goes until have depth of the tank so his pop all stuck at bottom
+John Rose i really does not want to drill the aquarium or do a fully integrated internal sump
and also what type of sump. it's a freshwater 125g african cichlid tank
kool
beast
That is goods
where is the video of the arawana going in its tank???
This coming Thursday.
+The king of DIY superb
what kind of hose is the return?
I believe it's called loc-line
+Tony J. thanks!
No problem!

Slightly off topic question, would I be able to install an external filter system in order to increase the fish stock in a fluval edge tank?
