They make it sound like ford was specifically trying to tear dipper and mabel apart out of malice or some shit. When literally all he was trying to do was give dipper a job opportunity he thought he had earned, it had literally nothing against mabel and he definitely wasn’t pissed off at mabel or anything when dipper declined lmao.

@@JessicaS-bb8wz Just because Stan is closer to Mabel doesn't mean he doesn't love Dipper too. He has been shown to care about Dipper immensely, just in a different way than he does Mabel. And the same thing with Ford and Dipper, just because he's closer to Dipper doesn't mean he doesn't care about Mabel. To suggest otherwise for any reason is just extreme bias towards Dipper and against Mabel. Stan and Ford both love Dipper and Mabel with their entire hearts.

He did majorly favor Dipper the point of encouraging him not to tell anyone about the rift which caused the whole wiermaggedon thing (I know ppl like to blame Mable for it but she’s a literal 12 year old and he’s a grown ass man. Ppl need to stop blaming little girls for the failings of the adults in their life). He also wanted Dipper as an apprentice, and spent time pushing a kid barely into high school that he needs to disregard the last remaining bits of his childhood in favor of pursuing a career and reassuring Dipper that she wouldn’t mind it to convince him to do it.
So yeah. I do think he cares about her, but he is not really good at ppl skills and def sidelined her.
The fact that half of this video is from the books, and the other half is mainly The Last Mabelcorn and Weirdmaggedon is heartbreaking, they should've had more bonding time.
Ford being voiced by J.K. Simmons is just a plus. A huge plus.

I love how she immediately calls him “Grunkle” and not “Great-Uncle” like Dipper. Dipper wants to show respect because he’s looked up to him all summer, whereas Mabel already loves her new Grunkle even though she just met him like a week ago and barely knows anything about him. She also isn’t afraid of this man that just walked out of a portal and owns like 50 weapons from the multiverse. Idk just thought it was a sweet detail

I always loved the scene where Ford uses Mabel’s drawings as a prop when he’s trying to trick the government guys into leaving them alone. To me this was always really meaningful and sweet; he was already fully embracing being her Grunkle. ❤️

I try to avoid that part of the fandom (toxic). Everytime I look up Mabel they are everywhere and it's pretty depressing.

A few years ago I read a fanfiction involving Mabel and Ford that genuinely made me sob. I'm sad that there was little interaction between these two in the actual series, but what we got was still really wholesome.

Okay, it was a one-shot called Mabel's Lament. The first half is a bit angsty, which is quite jarring considering it takes place after The Last Mabelcorn, but the resolution is still very sweet.

I think perhaps a dedicated episode for it may have worked better. DD&D was good for establishing a bond between him and Dipper. Perhaps The Last Mabelcorn would have worked better as the Mabel and Ford episode.

This is funny becaue when promos for 2b first aired and people saw Ford and mabel's sweet greeting and him giving her journal 1 and a crossbow they were worried that he was favoring her over Dipper and went on and on how that was not fair since Stan had already been consistently shown to be closer to Mabel than Dipper and so Dipper would need extra attention from Ford. Then when people tried to claim Ford did not like Mabel after he only offered Dipper the apprenticeship, others pointed out again that Ford constentaly praises how sweet and social Mabel is, and carries around things of her's (her drawings and the alien Keychain). The two clearly loved each other. I would say the reason they spent less time together is that Mabel is very family/group activity centric and Ford having a family again is something Ford needed to spend 2b getting used to. The end credits show that Mable and Ford start doing art projects together at the table if that helps. She also starts inviting Robbie over to do make up with. Mabel really can befriend anyone.

If you didn't know, it's referred to as Hammerspace because most early cartoon characters would pull out a hammer out of nowhere from behind their backs. It's jokingly said to be a vast interdimensional space that only cartoon characters can access.

I learned a lot of unusual trivia about obscure topics like the Wilhelm scream, Redshirts, soramimi, hyperthymesia, the buttered cat paradox, helicopter parenting, etc.

Honestly whenever Stan and Ford reference Shermie, their brother, I just wanna know about him more. I wish we got interactions with Stan and Ford talking about him more. Maybe he died while Ford was in another dimension and Stan had to break the (old) news.

YESSSSS 😭 It's like, what does Alex mean by there's no more story to tell now that season 2 is over???? There's SO many possibilities and stories you can tell with the GF franchise with animation!! It's just a matter of being able to think outside the box enough to come up with something good (but not in a way that makes it seem like it was hastily put together just to make more content and makes no sense for it to exist)
I feel like perhaps Alex got really burnt out during season 2 and that's why the plot went by so fast then, and then as the years went by he started working on other projects so now he doesn't really have a desire to make any more animated GF content. That's my theory anyway, I could be totally wrong. I mean we aren't entitled to another season, but it would be nice since I feel like there's still so much you can do with the GF universe :)
Ngl if I could help produce season 3 I would, because I have LOADS of ideas about what can be done with it!!

What I didnt like about him was how he didnt really pay much mind to Mabel. Keep in mind.

They both had different things going on in their lives, Ford at first didn't really pay much mind to dipper either. That was until dipper proved himself to Ford(and a game of dungeons, dungeons and more dungeons)

A valiant compilation, and obviously I'm grateful for what we got, but this isn't even 5 minutes. This is why I read fanfiction.
We should've had 3 seasons
Season 1: Episodic nature that season 1 had with Gideon as the main villain
Season: 2: Dipper gets closer and closer to finding the secrets of the author, Stan work on the portal, Stan/government are the main villains, ends with Ford's return
Season 3: Ford and Dipper work together to try to prepare as much as possible against Bill, Bill as main villain

I still get mad over the fact Alex Hirsch chose to cave into Mabel haters and make a story that really didn't feel like a Gravity Falls story to please them, instead of something like a Mabel and Ford bonding story. Maybe I'm biased cause I had hoped for one from day one, but I wasn't alone. So many GF fans in 2018 were hoping for that too. I'm just glad we can choose if it's canon or not. Don't Dimension It is not canon for me!
Really? Huh, it never felt quite like caving to haters, it just felt like a Mabel deals with selfishness character arc, not necessarily a "she's a bad person" thing. I personally liked it, and also don't agree with the haters. But that's just me.
@@thejurassicjungle1275 The problem with the story is that it took things too far. Like, on page one we see Dipper naming a fault line after Mabel which is a clear play on words to make it seem she solely caused Weirdmageddon. That and later on in the book where she took full blame for causing it. That, alongside seriously hurting Dipper's character for me, really went against what the show was trying to portray, which was that Weirdmageddon was not JUST Mabel's fault. Heck, even that infamous video that started the whole Mabel hate issue was smart enough to state that Mabel wasn't solely responsible for it. But this story made it out that she was. It took away any possible meaning for a fair redemption story as it made Mabel take full blame for something she was not all responsible for. It was the equivalent of if Ford and Dipper broke a window while playing baseball with Mabel, and then she was forced to take all the blame, even though Ford was the one who threw, Dipper was the one who should have caught it, and Mabel ended up being just on bystander who tried to catch the ball, missed, and saw it smash the window. Plus the way it was written didn't feel like even Hirsch wanted this story to exist. That is probably why he left a message in the book saying the stories are canonish. They're only canon if fans want them to be. So, if others want to accept DDI as canon, they can, but for me personally, I don't. Which sucks because I love the Mabel dimension concept. But this one flaw is so big IMO, it ruins the story overall.
@@ThatGFFAN Well, I personally didn't see it as Mabel taking the full blame, just accepting her part in it (she was less a bystander as much as directly involved like Ford and Dipper, but was equally as responsible for it as them, the point was all the Pines family members were responsible (even Stan, if indirectly, by reactivating the Portal in the first place, and also having it active when Ford was about to kill Bill in the Quadrangle of Qonfusion), and Mabel being selfish was one part of the setup for Weirdmageddon). I don't feel like Mabel acknowledging she played a part was her taking the full blame, but I can understand that point of view. Though I don't understand the part on how it was written in a way Alex wouldn't have wanted it to exist, I honestly feel like that's projecting. Alex said he considered everything outside the show as semi-canon, that's just how he views things outside the show. He described it like a Solar System on Twitter, if I recall stuff outside the show were orbiting bodies around the show itself, supplementary, and his 3 AM tweets were comets off in the distance to be avoided at all costs or something. Alex is a funny man XD Anyway, I just feel like it was Mabel confronting her selfishness, which she never really did in the series, it ended with Dipper giving up his apprenticeship for Mabel, which is good and is the message of the show, cherish childhood, but she never faced her selfishess in full beyond a few episodes. I disagree with the Mabel haters and am annoyed by them to all hell, but I can understand some of their points, even if I disagree. I don't think the story was supposed to be blaming Mabel as much as acknowledging her part in it, but hey, that's just my interpretation, who am I to say. I love Mabel, she's a great character, but she's not without any flaws and the story wasn't meant to portray her as the culprit for having them as much as confronting her part to play and her particular flaws, from my perspective. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply, and thanks for all these great videos, your channel's great! Been watching for years.
@@ThatGFFAN I find that this graphic novel was looking for two things: Give some more clues about the supposed relationship between Dipper and Pacifica (Although I dislike dippifica ship, I find it a rather forced ship) And that Mabel has her redemption to silence the haters.
Well, I don't know if Alex said that Lost Legends stories in general are stories rejected from the series, either due to lack of time or because Disney didn't give them the go-ahead (The only exception would be Comix-up, that story could only work in comic format) But technically yes, those stories would be canon (Or so I think)
In all fairness and no disrespect. It is their characters they made it wheat are just sitting on a chair watching it I mean it's their storyline and they can really make whatever characters favor whatever that they want.
It's their work it's really up to them what they want to do.

I'm not saying that dipper can't be you know selfish. But she is a mature and she asks her age and I'm not a huge fan of kids in general but dipper his personality I actually like him because hes more serious and he has fun but he acts more mature.
I mean take the whole situation with the apprentice she acted like a whiny person and I guess she wants to be with her brother but like like why should she pull him down and not let him do what he wants to do and what makes him happy.
I do think he was young and I do understand why they didn't do that but it's like they need the characters they can have them favor whoever they wanted.
I think they were going for Mabel gets Stan and and Ford gets dipper why should she get both she's not that important.

Hmmm, I don't know. I don't think Ford has much of an affinity for Mabel. That's why sometimes I don't understand where so much fanfic has come from where Mabel is shown Sharing with Ford. (Although many of these I find adorable)
I think most of us saw the 'turkey hand' scene in the series finale's end credits and wanted more of it, so we turned to fan-made content to fill that gap.
Not to resurrect a year old comment but I think thats exactly why theres so much ff with mabel and ford interactions. We didnt get it the main canon and we needed to fix that!
