    In regards to Tales games, I'm playing through Eternia myself, and... I can't recommend it for beginners for one simple reason. The overworld that doesn't have a proper map. The game asks you to backtrack on occasion, but your actual maps do not update in any way. So if it tells you to go back to a place that isn't a town and you don't remember where it is... Yeah, good luck. Time to use Google. I think personally, if you want to recommend a retro style Tales game, I recommend Destiny DC on the PS2. The last dungeon is rough, but you never get lost on the world map because it has an actual good map system that lists everywhere you've been, it has a synopsis so you can hop right back in after taking a long break, it has navigational skits that are actually helpful, and Holy Bottles actually prevent encounters.

    Soul Hackers 2 and Star Ocean 6 might both be games worth playing but only if you have very good eyes. Both are prime examples of what a developer should never do: make the text so small that it's almost impossible to read. I've played them both but stopped because it's not fun, if I can't follow the non-voiced story or even adjust my characters properly.

      I played 20 hours to Soul Hackers 2, and then watched the ending on youtube, no way im gonna grind 15h or more to see the ending. While it is great and the characters are nice it becomes very repetitive with the dungeons and everything. Sadly i dont even remember the soundtrack which is very important in this kind of games.
      Even if it is now patched so you can even speed up the game and battle, the story is probably the best part of the game. Seeing Ringo moving so slow on this video was making me cry.

English Dub voice actress doing an amazing job on voicing Ringo's role. some part in japanese voice sound very tempting and english dub too. So cute. • @SageofStars
    @SageofStars 5 месяцев назад

    I played all of these, good games. The ONLY thing I'd change is, I'd leap forward on the Atlier Iris series to game 2. Game one has some wonky presentation(What's given away on the back of the box is treated by the game as a MAJOR revelation, and later on, something that's a major revelation is just kind of flopped onto the table and barely discussed).
    Game TWO on the other hand is a far more traditional JRPG, with a dual mode gameplay, as you follow two Alchemists, one being the usual JRPG hero type, with a magical sword of miraculous power, while the other is the more typical protagonist for an Atlier game, female, wearing heavy clothing, and extremely skilled at alchemy.
    In two, the plot progresses at a good pace, the characters are a bit better fleshed out, and compared to game one, where the alchemy items are OP as heck(since only one guy can use them), in game two, the items, gear, and skills are actually fairly balanced, with each one feeding into the other to create a powerful party that can take on some tough challenges.
    Should also be noted that after this, alchemy items become less and less impactful, as Skills start to take over the series, and have remained the go to option for OP until midway through the Arland trilogy, where the focus balanced again, before shifting towards Gear as your big power ups. And then the Mysterious series just included an easy mode where everything dies in one hit(Not really, but it feels that way sometimes)...but dumped English voice acting at that point too, which is bleh.

    I Am Setsuna or more like it's longer and more polished version in Lost Sphear and Arc The Lad: Twilight of the Spirits are two of my favorite games. I put both Lost Sphear and Twilight of the Spirits in my top ten.
    Conversely, Tales of Eternia ("Destiny 2") is one of my least favorite. I was meaning to get it on the PSP to give it another try but never did. I had the PS1 version with the strategy guide up until I sold it a few years back for a VERY nice profit. Only ever tried it the once though. Don't remember what it was specifically I didn't enjoy, I just remember that I didn't like it. It left quite the lingering dislike with me too if I can still say I don't like it but don't know exactly why anymore after a quarter century.
    Arc the Lad: End of Darkness can go along with Tales of Eternia as one of my least favorite.
    And just to balance it all out, Tales of Destiny is another in my top ten. So I have one "Tales of" and one Arc the Lad game each in my top ten and bottom ten lol. That takes some doing from a company to do something like that. Well...I guess Final Fantasy also pulled it off with VI being a top ten and III being a bottom ten but we're more used to that series being so very polarizing.

    Soul Hackers 2, I keep wondering if I should play it, but unless it IS a masterpiece, I dont feel like caving in and paying full price for it. Not to mention dlcs. That makes me angry. And I'm even angrier when I realize I'm still gonna pay for Metaphor.

    Eternia is easy to play, hard to master, but the best feature is be able to plug a second controller and play along with friends! human reid and farah kick asses.
    Wild arm 2 is good and all, but there is moments were i was completely lost and had to choose brute force, like i had to find a flying garden after half a hour i gave up am just lock the controler in a position it would fly around the world in 1 decree angle , so it would stumble on it eventually. also the female starter girl has the most forgettable name ever.
    atelier 1 is solid, and the boss music is rock.
    arc spirits is not higher because ARC 2 exist.

    I can't judge the Sakura Wars game fairly honestly. The gameplay is ok but IMO inferior to the fifth game, which was a PS2 game and the only other game in the series to reach the US for some reason. And I hate the story because it feels like there's part of it that is IMO little or no benefit to the story and seemed written just to anger those of us who liked the characters from the earlier games (While games I through IV stayed in Japan some of the Mangas and Animes based on the franchise and including the characters from I through IV came out here)
