As a dad, I know very well the dilemma Grant faces when factoring in his family responsibilities alongside his wiffle ball career. Hopefully he can find an arrangement where he can play on (at least) a part-time basis next season. He has brought so much positive energy to the league over the past two years and cultivated so many awesome moments that will shape MLW's history for the better. Thanks for being great, Grant.
@@jacobreynolds4749 i don’t think this is the big reason why views are down. it’s just that this is the same thing for like 3 years now. no new teams, or no new fun players.
Man, that sucks but I can’t say I blame the guy. Maybe Kyle should institute a rule that you have to pitch to a player on their first plate appearance. Otherwise Grant could have stayed home and they could have punch run for him.
No, a team is not one player. You can make them pretend like they are pitching to somebody but whether they point to the bag or throw pitches 10 yds off the plate you have to give them a reason not to do that
Bonham struck out looking 3 times with runners on base. No one to protect Grant. Not to mention that no one else on the team could hit with the exception of the pinch hitter, who was brought into hit way too late.
Yup. Drew got a lot of critisism before the season started with the trade, trading for Caden and Szerlag, losing Sawyer, etc. But he's put together a decent squad and has them in the top 4, and Caden is pitching well.
It was an effective strategy. The Magic's fatal flaw was it is a top heavy team as in...literally one player who can hit and has to carry the entire team every game. I will say this about Bonham he has skill as a pitcher and has some very deceptive stuff. The guy should not be hitting though sorry.
Absolutely hate to see Grant retire. RJ was visibly nervous. Cobras took a series seriously. Keep it up and they just might make it to the World Series!
The intentional walks shouldn't be limited. If they had someone hitting behind Grant that could make contact it wouldn't be an issue. Would they IBB Dan? No, because then it's Dallas. IBB Dallas? No, because then you have to face Landon. Get it? The Magic lost today because they are an inferior team. Nothing more, nothing less.
I’ve never seen a hitter carry an offense this much in the history of this league. Even when the Preds supporting cast was struggling, it was never THIS bad.
Both losing records??? Guys, you need more games during the season. Please just play double... Please. 1 extra post a week haha. I love this so much. I watch this more then college and pro ball haha
Terrible showing by the Magic. I think walking Grant everytime was a very smart move by Drew. The Magic only have one consistent hitter, and I think the IBBs are totally acceptable in addition to being legal. If GMilly leaves, the Magic are going to be worse off than they were before him and RJ showed up. May have to pull some more draft hijinks to keep them from going 0-15 bc the league is evolving fast.
I wouldn't say bad baserunning because had he stayed at 3rd it feels like the chances of anybody getting a hit were astronomical. I think Grant kind of had to go for it there. Didn't work out is all.
exactly. the magic have one flaw and its lineup depth. and they took full advantage of it. and if they ban and ibb they just wouldn't throw him a strike and waste four pitches lmao. rule or not grant wasn't seeing a pitch to hit
The rules should change because that was boring and not entertaining. The playoffs do not make a team with lack of pitching depth work through that but easily exposes teams with weak batting in a league where pitching is already miles ahead of the bats. Magic lost because they are a bad team, but this was a disappointing series from a viewership standpoint.
The only way to make a team pitch to a batter is : after 10 consecutive balls to one batter, that player may elect to take the intentional walk and remain at bat with a fresh count.
Grant, as an older guy myself (34) and a preds fan…. I would hate to see you go. You have great energy and you seem like a genuinely good dude. Hope everything works out, and maybe you’ll come back just to beat the preds to make me personally upset.
Honestly, a risky decision to not pitch to Grant, but it was on the rest of the magic to produce and punish that decision and they didn’t. Congrats Cobras!
@@birgerhovda8773that was a baserunning error? He was on base every inning watching everyone strikeout. It was either run there and hope for a bad throw etc. or stay at 3rd and watch the next guy strikeout lol.
the way i see it, as much as i really hated seeing grant not see a single pitch, magic literally had an advantage each inning, do you know how hard it is to give up NO runs across both games with a guy always being on 1st base each inning?? This says more about caden's pitching being outstanding, and it says a lot about the rest of the magic hitters at the plate. Not a SINGLE RUN with a guy on base each inning?? Whether you like it or not that's sad tbh and the Cobras earned it even if i I don't appreciate that strategy
I’ve said it before and I will say it again Drew Davis is a national treasure that kid cracks me up more than he doesn’t well done Cobras. Much love to the magic for going out there and defending their title as well.
Don't let the walks distract you from Caden Irwin absolutely dealing in this series. There's nothing wrong with the rule. Not a single hit outside of Aigner. That's on the Magic, not the league.
I understand that the mound is only 35 feet away and the wiffleball has insane spin and is coming in fast, but these hitters need to do a better job just putting the ball in play. Like the number of strikeouts the Magic had is just absurd like shorten up and just make contact and it ultimately cost them their season.

For real. They got hosed this year. They had 2 solid pitchers and 4 consistent hitters. Chaddy really impressed me this year. Adams too. Sawyer has always been good. They deserved to be in the playoffs. Eagles vs DBacks is the real championship this year. Those 2 are far above the other 6 teams. I would bet on the Eagles.
Never know. If the next batter walked, Miller would have been up to bat with the score tied and the bases loaded. Can't run yourself out of the last inning.
People are going to complain about the intentional walks, but that's on the Magic. The fact that the rest of their team couldn't get on base enough to force even a single scenario where Grant has to be pitched to or there'll be a run walked in (or put up ANY runs of their own like we saw them do last postseason) says it all. The loss here is on the Magic batting lineup, they got cooked by Irwin all series. Huge credit to Drew for implementing the intentional walk strategy and going with Caden, who I was saying should be the ace since that gem vs. the Wildcats, and of course the wins here are all thanks to those shutout pitching performances by Irwin (and the offense doing just enough).
