My "boy" Quaker laid eggs for the first time when "he" was 14yrs. I did not handle it well. Now Sid is 24yrs and I am finally adapted to my baby girl. Lol
If I want two quakers is it better to have a male and a female(even if I do not want to let them breed) or two males or two females? Please tell me about your experiences!😊
if you dont want them to breed do not get male and female. they will breed. probably 2 males over 2 females but that would just be my personal preference.
also quakers dont really need another quaker for company if you will be spending a lot of time with the bird and it is outside of the cage the majority of the time. they become so attached to you. they are a wonderful bird
My girl quaker just glows when women give her attention. She is a little star! I think if a man gave her that same attention in a high pitched excited voice she would also find him irresistible ! Unfortunately the last man she met gave her nails a trimming. He's a sweetheart but nobody wants a stranger doing stuff with their toes. Before that it was my male friend entering her territory so of course he received a scolding. Hmm I better give her some positive friendly male interactions or she's going to be a little Andrea Dworkinbird! Though she would look adorable in overalls.
this may be anedoctal, but the male/female behavior is different. I have a pair, and have raised another male & female earlier. the female is careful and gentle, and the male is territorial/defensive, and likes to cary little items to "make a nest" or just carefuly lay them in the cage. if a stranger goes near my parrots, the female will cower behind the male, while the male will attack. the female only attacks when cornered, andt he previous female I had would only "fake bite".
the only way im gteting to know my quakers parrot is the dna test i do not want to stress abt the others ecspecially the plucking and the surgery i will have a stress attack
You know dude you don't know what your talking about I would never do any of this because I did and my quaker got sick and now pluking his feathers so never do this he do not know what he is doing and I would just take it to the vet

We recently lost our first Quaker, we only rehomed him in May. He was such a lovely character and is missed so much.
Why the rehome? Out of curiosity
I had my quaker parrot for almost 19 years.
Long time, he is part of family :)
@@quakerparrotandlovebirds1138 im 27 now i had him when i was a little boy im not sure if i can live without him.

That’s awesome can I ask why you think he passed?
I’m trying to find my Quaker’s gender my mom says it might be a female but I can’t really tell
Best solution would be DNA test...

I heard that their pelvis bone structure can tell the difference? Is that true?
This was a great video thank you x
Is it true that male Quakers often bond to female owners and females to male owners?
Nah, dont think they know difference. Who ever spend more time with them.
I would say no. My female Quaker is very bonded to me.

Also with masterbation, males typically point their tail downwards during whereas females point their tail upwards
my bird does point “her” tail upwards when i put my hand over her, so does that mean she’s a female??

I just got a quaker
Me too! In Dec 2023 😊
is it a good idea to get a pair/siblings?
Single bird bonds faster with human. Two is not bad also. But you need bigger cage.

I agree, only completely accurate method..

@@quakerparrotandlovebirds1138 really all birds can do that just because of what you did so just take them to the vet and don't listen to him
My Quaker gets aggressive & bites? She used to be very calm with me. Idk what to do 🤷♀️
I think mine is a boy. Or I hope. I named him Ollie; I am so scared he’s going to end up being a girl lol 😂
I named mine Jeanie Weanie, hoping it’s a female 😂
