This is the best video I've seen yet on troubleshooting the Dolphin. I'm a total novice, so I appreciated the instruction on using a voltmeter. Then you stepped through various tests, told us what to expect, and what to do if we got different results. Great instruction. One note: after removing all the screws on my power supply, I looked inside and didn't see any fuse. Then I saw it was accessible on the back without opening it up! So that could have been an easy thing to test first.
Thank you for this video. I found it to be one of the most informative so far. I do have a question that I cannot find an answer to…when checking the dc voltage of the power supply for a dolphin active 30i with 3 pin/prong, where do you insert the 2 multimeter prongs?
Excellent walk through. Found my intermittent issue in minutes using the video. It was the tangle free feature, one of the pins dropped lower and was not making contact with the circular contact in the white tangle free enclosure. Pulled the pin out for good contact. Did not know how to begin troubleshooting this until I saw your video. Thumbs up!
Thanks for this professional video. With its help, I isolated the problem to the motor. Unfortunately, I'm told that I'm better off buying a new unit vs servicing motor / replacement, but my unit was only 5 years old when it died. My main concern is cost/value, is it worth buying an expensive cleaner that may fail in 5 years? or buy a cheap one and let it die...
Your video was very helpful. I have a slightly newer version of the Dolphin Plus. I lost continuity over the cleaner cable. I noticed a white connector on the cleaner cable (that allows the cable to rotate without getting bound up) that has pins inside. The pins were slightly pushed in. One of the pins was not making contact with the circular contact on the other side of the connector. I pulled each pin out, pushed them back in and now they have the spring like action that they are supposed to have. I was ready to throw out my pool vac thinking it was the motor, but all it wound up being was the pins in that connector. It works perfectly now. Your video lead me down the path that made me realize where my problem was. Thank you very much!
Thank you very much for the video. What happens if the voltage measurement of the power source indicates 11 DC volts instead of 29? Please, I await your response.
I am only getting 27v dc out of my power supply. Is that to low to power the dolphin? I have the dolphin premiere only 4 months old. My own screw up. Got caught out in the rain for an hour while it was cleaning the pool. Forgot it was running out there. It was dead when I remembered. Let it dry out in the house overnight. Got it to power back on but will only run the impeller for 5 seconds and shut down at the dolphin but power supply stays on.
I have an inoperative Dolphin Deluxe 4. I opened the motor. There is 29DCV across the b&w pins. There is no continuity from the red pin to the power supply end of the cable. I didn't notice any obvious failures on the PCB. Leslie's used their plug diagnostic tool and checked the cable as "good." Is the red wire used? I need to know before I purchase a new motor unit.
Great troubleshooting video! Found 28 volts at the end of the cable going to motor so assuming motor is bad, resistance at the motor is very high. Wondering if it's still worth replacing the motor even though pool cleaner is 3 years old?
Unfortunately, Maytronics doesn't consider the motor to be a do-it-yourself repair. We are unable to get pricing on that part. My suggestion would be to get a quote from Maytronics on the cost of the motor replacement. Compare that to the cost of a new cleaner. If the motor is more than half the cost of a new cleaner, I'd go with a new cleaner.
Can you repair ny dolphin premier ? The psu is lighting and can select the Programme . But the robotic vacuum is not functioning . It is 1 year old but i used it for 1 month last month . Was doing a very good job but suddenly stopped . Maytronic has not come forward to help, although it is still under warrantee.
Having a weird issue, when I plug in power supply cleaner starts a standard cleaning cycle on its own. Can not change or control from power supply or app. this is the nautilus cc supreme....it as if a bit is stuck in the logic causing the run command to be stuck on. Any ideas? A fresh program dump should work if there's a way.
This video is great! I have been able to work on my m200 for years. I'm having issues again and have question I can seem to fine a discussion answer to. QUESTION: Is the swivel housing supposed to be watertight? My m200 quit working and when I pulled it out the swivel hosing was cracked and water (and some fine debris) was in the swivel. I'm happy to buy a new cable but wanted to make sure my unit would self-test out-of-water. It will not. Cable passes continuity test. Could the water that got in the swivel have shorted out or ruined my motor somehow?
We reached out to Dolphin/Maytronics' tech support. They advised us that if the swivel is compromised, the blue cable will need to be replaced. It has to be watertight or water will get into the cable and short out the robot or power supply.
Will 26.9 volts at from the power supply/transformer to the motor case it not to work? That's what I get at the end of the blue 60" cable with the power on.
I saw a video on here where a guy fixed a ball bearing in his and it worked fine. It looked like many comments by others, had that same issue. LeisureLuke is the username for him. The video is one that shows how to repair your dolphin for 1$ verses 450$. Hope this helps you 👍🏻😊
Anyone know how to replace the top lid for filter cover in a dolphin Escape? Mine needs replacement but maytrronics sent no instructions do the hinges just pop out?
Are the tracks and brushes trying to move? Have you disassembled the cleaner to check that the motor's side drive shaft that turns the tracks is also spinning? I believe the Premier uses a two-compartment motor; one drives the impeller, and the other moves the tracks. Maytronics Dolphin Premier Parts - www.inyopools.com/partlisting/maytronics-dolphin-premier
I figured it out. The track do not move at all and if I power it on, the cleaners impeller will move for a few seconds, then the cleaner and the power supply will shut down. I disconnect the cleaner cable from the cleaner motor and the power supply would run as it’s supposed to. I think the cleaner motor is bad. I believe there is a dead short on the cleaner drive motor.
He should have mentioned - check of the continuity problem is where the cable meets the amphenol plug. If so, buy a replacement plug, cut off the old one and bad wire section, connect to new plug
I confirmed that 120 volts was going into the power supply at the female plug. But, the blue lights won't come on. This is the new style power supply 9995670. Does this mean that I need a new power supply and there is nothing else to try to fix?
Robert, unfortunately the newer style power supply doesn't have a replaceable fuse so you would have to replace the unit. We do carry this on our website: www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352059460.htm?Keywords=9995670

My Dolphin was working fine. Had it out for a week or two. Now it will not sink to the bottom. Thanks for comments. Dan

Do you know how the movable floats on the handle are used?

How do you clean the motor of the desiccant that is scattered in it. Why would one design it like that?

Good video👍. My dolphin goes a few meters than it stops, and if i pull it out of the water it works again. Any idea of the issue?😕

@@sdfaucette fixed. I had a problem in the cable

We are having trouble disconnecting the floats from the cable. Is there a secret to release these devices? Thank you!
Nice Troubleshooting tuto. Helps me just fine.

Our dolphins stopped working after 1 year , theres a short what can we do?
Thank you - this was helpful; I believe I have a bad power cord.

Sharon, have you checked the online user guide: manuals.maytronics.com/intro?pn=99996351&cust=3014
