OMG! Finally another woman that feels like me about the "women" in this game. I am a "B" cup and I cannot even make that in this game. That is not even that big, and yet the devs seem to think that women do not have breasts... like at all. When you said "she was neutered in the chest" that is how I felt too. My hope is modders will fix this travesty.
@shayliakara Modders will deffo fix this 100% my dear :) I also have a B cup but this is outrageous! i wanna be the opposite of me in a video game! big breasts and skinny! haha
I laugh my ass off at seeing the bulge size being BIGGER than the breasts! I can get some people want futas... But the fact that a penis size can be larger than the largest breast option is hilarious!
Fun fact... if you are a Qunari mage... you are made a slave, worse than slaves for the elves! Human mages are normally locked in towers cause of the dangers they pose! Inquisition saw to 'fix' that issue... After Hawk in DA2 got (not directly in a sense) an entire chantry blown up and saw Templars and Mages directly against one another... Meredith says hi btw! This game throws out so much lore established from DA1-3 it is insane....
I thought my playback had buffering problems with all the time skips but no, Mish just couldn't stand to go through with it all. And it says something when even Mish skips over character creation in a game LMAO
Skyrim forever put me off of this type of character creator. I shouldn't have to play with sliders for hours (or download a mod) to make a passable but still not ideal character. Give me a half dozen default faces, some options for noses, mouths, eyebrows, etc and a few different body types plus a height slider. Something like FFXIV as an example. Sure, you can include bulge slider too, that's a complete non issue for me. I agree on the general art style. Its off putting to me, especially compared to Origins. Its not a bad looking game, just not my preference. Sifting through the blind hate/praise though it seems that Veilguard is a good game with a good story, but with atrocious writing. When you have a franchise that is built upon good writing that last one is going to be a deal breaker for many.
I don’t know why they made all these new factions nobody has ever heard of instead of going off known established factions. Crows and wardens are the only 2 established factions. There’s no reason the lords of fortune can’t be the raiders of the waking sea. The veil jumpers could be a number of dalish clans that have banned together to protect their heritage and artifacts of their old home. The mourn watch are part of the Mortalitasi, but you don’t find that out until later. That should have been either in the description or just have mortalitasi as the faction. The shadow dragons aren’t really explained either. I know they were formed from the Lucerni that Dorian Pavus helped form, but again it’s not mentioned. They could have done a much better job with the description and the faction names.
oh I'm glad i've never played any dragon age game before and your critisism doesn't bother me x) But sounds resonable I guess(10 minutes into the video). Also random thought: there's something about a conventionally attractive female dwarf...
Some commentary channel back when the first trailer showing the Veil Jumpers was released. Entirely possible they were wrong, it was a random channel that was recommended to me by YT, so it might not have been accurate if you haven't come across any game-related info on it - you're further into the game than I am! ^^;
I think you did a good job with very poor options. At least she looks different to most of the females in current vids. Thanks for making her and I enjoyed your comments. Cheers from Australia 😊
Yeah and the whole video felt down face first because of 0:25 - 0:30 😬 Talk before that sounded el okey. So it was a jump to end after that short segment. Simplifying combat so that couch gamers are pleased & in hopes of more sales isn't good for this pre-establishes franchise ✅ There's also immortality option in story difficulty mode & companions are immortal in every difficulty mode. Yaiks. Not to forget the push-ups done by Isabella because Trash Qunari thinks that she missgendered her. 🤦♂
I know there's a lot of forced dialogue scenes with non-binary stuff etc. but i think an additional option of pronounces doesn't hurt literally anybody, no?
I ended up playing a Dwarf warrior instead of a Human mage since I was able to make a more manly looking character 😅 No Spellblade for me! I’ll probably end up speccing as a Reaper
@@mishkaraeI tried all three classes out first and the orb and dagger were my favourite! I just couldn’t make a human I was satisfied with and when I tried making a Dwarf it was a lot easier 😅
Pro tip for the character creator: Don't use the head shape blender, lol. It seems totally unnecessary with all the other customization options available. I was able to make a pretty cute elf.
"There were no Asian elves" Sure, maybe. I guess. I mean, there was nothing stopping you, at least in DA:I, from making an Asian looking elf so its not like Asian elves were specifically banned from the lore or anything. Originally there were no Qunari with horns either until it was retconned, but you don't seem to have an issue with the change in that particular lore? So maybe it isn't really about the lore changing, hmm? ;)
I have no knowledge of what you speak - Qunari have always had horns in the versions of the games I've played...? The Qunari in Origins had horns, and that was the first DA game?
Having just researched it, from what I can tell you are mistaken. Qunari were always meant to have horns, and have always been stated to have them. The devs didn't want to fuss with head meshes (with horns) and helmets for Sten in Origins, so they decided there would be some Qunari born hornless. This is lore established in Origins. Qunari always had horns.
This is one of many reasons i love you mish, you are genuine and speak your mind, no sugarcoating your words just saying them how they are needed to be said 👌
I felt the same way about the "Veil Jumpers" as they made it look like it was straight from Fortnite, and it ruined my immersion. With that said, I have left her at camp almost as soon as I could. She is too whiney, and they claim she is the best of the best at what she does. But I will let you decide that as you play. As for Asian elves, it is how I felt when Krypton had Asians and other people from our world placed there. These are aliens. That was never the intent, but that is what our modern world wants, so lore means nothing now. Wish I could just keep my fantasy "fantastical" sometimes. But maybe they will take all this criticism and make sure Mass Effect 4 is good.
I have to be honest, I found Inquisition's combat to be significantly worse than mid tier. The interface was awful and made me wonder why on earth they did not just stick to the DA:O interface which was so much better for party management, positioning characters and aiming AoE effects. Interface aside, it was a button mashy, damage spongey, braindead mess that just wasted your time. And on the rare instances where it was not trivial, you just felt like you were tussling with the interface constantly. The combat in that game is irredeemably bad, and its most of what you spend your time doing given the massive amount of padding in the game and the fact that enemies died so slowly. And if most of what you spend your time doing is an active chore, its a bad game. Its not bereft of any merit, but its positives are not enough to justify the huge bloat of uninspired MMO filler quests (hugely expanded from the mission boards in DA:O, something that should have been pruned for sequels, not massively increased) and the sheer volume of terrible combat you have to wade through to see the highlights. When you contrast it with the Witcher 3, released around 6 months later, its not a flattering comparison. Origins did not have outstanding combat, but it was competent and whilst fairly simplistic compared to many CRPGs, could be quite satisfying with the backstab and stealth mechanics of the rogue of the wide range of spells of the mage. It also did not insult your intelligence by assuming you cannot read full sentences and needed a dialogue wheel to navigate dialogue. I actually think its a little overrated, but its a very solid game with a lot of things it does well and few it does poorly. There is not much which is truly outstanding however. There was certainly room for improvement simply by iterating on the same formula. Bioware could have made a sequel for Origins which was to Orgins what BG2 was to BG1: bigger, better and significantly more polished. Instead, the formula has been changed dramatically every time and at least relative to Origins, much for the worse. I will reserve judgement on this one until its been out longer and more time has passed to form a consensus of its merits as a game, rather than views based on partisan squabbling over what I admittedly find to be pretty obnoxious culture war insertions into the game. I mean seriously, mastectomy scars? Which to my understanding are the only surgical scars available in customisation. If we are going to be this silly with modern day medical insertions into a fantasy game, why no C-section scars, colostomy bags or chemotherapy induced hair loss? Also, I find it frankly pretty weird that any developer feels the need to include vitiligo as a customisation option. If we are going to have customisation of this kind, wouldn't something like acne be a more sensible starting point? This does seem to be pretty obviously agenda driven and claims that its just a matter of allowing player expression and in no way ideological are clearly disingenuous. Anyway, my initial impressions are this is yet another dumbed down, made for console game targeted at a significantly younger audience than either the BG series or DA:O.
Hot damn, did I enjoy you spittin' facts in character creation. Fiery passion for common sense and logic, and a hatred for politically correct bullshitting.
Just want to say I appreciate you voicing your concerns about this game right off the bat. I do agree that a fair amount of of "woke" and political elements went into this game (I totally agree with you about the Qunari) but I hope that it will still be an enjoyable experience for you playing Veilguard regardless. Loved your Imquisition playthrough Mishka and looking forward to this one.
"Political elements" like what, exactly? I think we all can guess... The only people that think representation of anyone that isn't a white straight dude is "political" are people whose political ideologies already revolve around the idea of excluding certain people from being represented in anything. And we know what kind of people those are, don't we? If you're choosing to call it "political", then you're telling on yourself. Way to go.
Everyone is, of course, entitled to their own opinions. I will choose to try not to focus on the opinions I disagree with. Or try to address them in a matter that is hopefully respectful. Or just move on if it becomes too much of a focus. That said, there is one very poorly done scene that should, in my opinion, not be in the game. If something is controversial that in your mind shouldn't be, than reflect that in the writing. it should naturally be a part of the dialog, not something you need to call out. Show, don't tell. You are just reinforcing people's negative opinions otherwise. I believe its not the topic that's the issue, its the handling of it. However, I feel a lot of people (outside of this community) are rushing to blame the writing issues on agendas, and I just don't feel that's the case personally. I think Mish nails it at 8:45. It's harmless, but its repeating what we have already read as if we aren't going to understand a simple English sentence. And none of the other races got a second section like that, so its weirdly inconsistent. Bottom line though, If the writing is good, than Mish's 'logic and common sense' should win out and it wouldn't be an issue. Or at least make it easier for others to roll their eyes and move on. If this game never addressed what some consider political topics, the writing would still be bad. If it didn't include certain options at character creation, it still would have been like unmodded Skyrim in terms of character ugliness. Granted there is a chance these things are cause/effect relationships, but I'm not so sure it is. That's enough of this type of conversation from me though. Back to not having enough free time to actually watch any of this.
I've never used the term 'DEI', and likely won't, and I don't believe I've used 'wokeness' until now, but I've argued against their existence in games before. Forspoken is the first one that comes to mind, minor references in Flintlock is a second one.
If Bioware used Lego NPCs in place of these hideous things, the game would of doubled in sales. It's already the RPG joke of the year. So why not have fun with lovable characters, Lego. Dearest Mishka, Bioware should pay you for what you are doing. Playing this must be pure torture, yet you power through sounding so pleasant as you do. Cheers and all the best with your channel.
You hate "wokeness"? And gender inclusiveness? This is a new side of Mishka that I have not seen before. I don't like it. It reminds me a lot of the people in the US that we call "Trumpsters". This is not a compliment.
I promise you that a lot of regular people are also tired of the “modern audience” inserting their real world politics and ideologies into games. We just want fun games again
@bonzai9802 And a lot of regular people want representation but can't get it because a lot of ancient and archaic audiences (bigots) just can't accept the existence of anything or anyone different from themselves.
gender inclusiveness was never a problem, it has been prevalent in all dragon age games without being preachy about it and it had a point in the story and wasn't shoehorned in. it also used language that fits into the world of thedas instead of modern earth language that destroys immersion. and when pointed out people like you want to group people with an actual point in with actual evil people. characters had actual identities outside of their sexual preferences. who you fuck does not a personality make.
I'm glad someone said it with the gender stuff. I'm a female gamer myself and was almost brainwashed on Tumblr as a teen into the non binary label, it's absurd in my opinion and to throw modern terms into a fantasy game breaks immersion. Still thanks for playing this and giving your opinions, I love to hear it and love your channel - first discovered you through your WoW videos! Keep it up 😊
