    I live around the corner from The Blue Note. I have seen John not only there, but also at The 55 Bar, and other places he has just walked into to jam... Amazing chops... just one big WOW!!

      Definitely part of the best of the best though. Feel, versatility, real lines ( not just speed), GROOVE ( which 85% of solo bassist are missing), plus eyes ( can sight read anything) and huge ears...

    Sounds like Patitucci is playing with an octave pedal of some kind. Anyone else hear the octave above line? Might be a POG, but I can't really tell. Patitucci is the man!

    Man I love hearing the Tootch man on the 4 string! Always great vocabulary, instinct, confidence and bump. Been listening since 85. He’s greasy with Nate here🏅🏅

    He is just not funky bass player. This is not his music. But he is realy one of the biggest musicians in the planet. One of the greatest double bass player

    John is an excellent and versatile bassist. Usually I see him playing 6 string or upright. He's showing some Jaco style here.

    Bravo! I love seeing someone play a 4-string like that. I don't see why people see the need for 5,6, and 7 stringed ones. Sure you get super deep notes or super high notes but you break tradition and could sound just as good and have better spacing for more styles of playing on a 4 string.

    The first time I saw him was with Bill Bruford when I was a kid (I had fake ID and the drinking age was only 18). It was depressing. I almost went home and threw away my bass.

    I'd put Guy Nsangue in the same league as John. Seeing Nsangue play with Damien Schmitt in Jean-Luc Ponty's band was kickass rhythm section nirvana.

      Remember every note counts,sometimes what you don't play is just as important as what you do play,in music an edit button is essential.

      That's funny, because, I remember when Steve Jordan, Omar Hakim, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Charlie Drayton and other heavyweight cats were all using Yamaha drums; they sounded pretty good.
