I've left my original Xbox (originally my brothers Xbox from back in the day), sitting on the floor in my room for weeks now, tempted to take it apart. But fearing I will damage something due to my lack of skills, I did finally ask my brother via text if he removed the clock capacitor back when it red ringed 6-8 years ago. He said he did something regarding removing something, and called it a "watch battery", which I'm not sure is the same thing as an actual clock capacitor. He claimed the capacitor isn't what would leak, but the battery would, despite the fact the capacitor functions similarly to a battery. Anyway, any tips or help would be useful on taking it apart without damaging anything. If you're wondering which version it is, it was manufactured in May 2002, so it's definitely one of the earlier models.

Don't worry, it's not scary at all! First you want to make sure your system is modded (softmod or hardmod) , has an up to date dashboard, and is a 1.0-1.5 system and NOT a 1.6. If you want to softmod your system, I have a series that goes over the basics. I even show you how to do part of the disassembly process, including the screwdrivers you'll need with links in the description!

Also, I would really recommend the guides on ConsoleMods.org, you can learn to do pretty much anything with your system, including how to identify what model you have! Best of luck, you've got this! 😁👍

do you know what the different colors of the old friendtech dreamX consoles meant? like red vs blue vs green? happened to find a green dreamX with the turbo button and have no clue what i found to be honest

The blue is the light model which is 128mb RAM upgraded, the red has the best CPU upgrade plus the RAM upgrade, and I'm pretty sure the green has a lesser CPU upgrade and the RAM upgrade? Don't quote me on that cuz I can't remember for sure, but if memory serves me right that's the case. Either way, heck of a find! 😁👍
