My parents live in Pickering (where the last house is), they purchased their house in 2007 for under 300k if they were to list today they could get up to 1.45m. honestly insane as most of this increase has come within the last 5 years.
I moved from Toronto to Niagara and bought a house for 565 approximately and within two years the value went up to almost 800. We renovated it and the neighborhood is filled with huge houses

I live in Des Moines, Washington, about 20-30 minutes from downtown Seattle and there's a house right next to mine that goes for around 600k. It's not that bad, it's modern-styled with a garage, 5 bedrooms, 1.25 bathrooms, and a nice kitchen. I know like nothing about houses but yeah I feel like its a well priced home.
I think these prices are depressing to the average person. I purchased my house for $200k in 2019 and i couldn’t be happier. It has everything i need and more. I used to live in a 450sqft basement. Where i come from its hard AF to get out. My $200k is a dream to many including myself. Grateful for all of it. To anyone who reads this, its all good. Live your truth and find a place that suites you.
So I looked up $1m homes in my city Green Bay WI and we don't have any .... There are 900k homes but they are 90 mins from the city and right by Lake Michigan. You get 3000-3500 Sq Ft and 3 bd 3 ba. The further you from the city 90 mins+ There are some ridiculous homes. In Wausau, $1m gets you 4 bd, 6 bd. 10.7k Sq Ft Wild. But then you have to live in Wausau ... Also for 950k, you get 4bd, 5 ba 4.6 k Sq Ft. The housing market is pretty good? here in Green bay for 200-300k, there are over 500 listings most of which are 3-4 bd, 2-3 ba. Nice video agent, It got me looking into all these things when I would never have before.
I live in Trinidad and seeing the prices for how small the houses in Toronto are I now realize how big my house is compared to their homes like I have a total of six bedrooms three bathrooms and my backyard is bigger than the third house but this is only possible because of my grandfather who built this house over fifty years ago with only a handful of people Who helped him and he’s now 84 years old i’m still one of the strongest man I know

What isn't focused much on here (understandably) is the absolute defcon 4 tier disaster the housing market is in Canada, one of the worst in the world. The housing market is completely fucked, 1 reason why TO and Vancouver are always making the top 10 most expensive cities in the world to live in despite the economy in either city never raking in the money to make it worth that value. As for the TO ever-expanding and making everything more expensive is correct. People nowadays are selling their 1.5-2m homes in TO, heading 3.5-4 hours to a city like Windsor to retire and buy a house for 800K & chill. That's assuming that the billion dollar investment groups don't outbid you by 50-100K or the real estate cunts.. I mean agents don't consistently rake up housing prices to earn a few extra $ because for some reason in our country, it's legal to hide the house market bidding where people are blindly upping the house price when they don't need to. Good times ahead for 1st time buyers in Canada if you're making over 150K. For everybody else, you're fucked.
