Do you think we'd have the same quality of life if we stopped paying taxes?
Great job 😀, I really enjoy your videos !! But you had assumed that a goverment wouldn't exist if people stopped paying taxes , wich is not always true ,goverments have other way of earning money than taxes like state-run/owned companies and exploitation of natural ressources !
Yes. The money spent by government collecting taxes could be spent services for the people.
If governments print the money, why do they need taxes?
Then what’s the point of having An Army and Police? They provide safety and are risking their life’s to go in war or in a Riot.☠️
@@davidloz2204 I am Government. I print & control the money (so the people think & I fuel this dellussion).
Now with that money I allegedly produce, I run an expensive department, just to get 1/2 of it back thousands of tax transaction a second, in every country, even thousands from those on welfare, GST, fuel tax, carbon tax etc.
I dare someone to comment that this makes sense (because governments do not create the money)
Who does? & how?? (oh, & how much???)
@BOBONOPOLI Nothing would happen. Gold only has perceived value. We can't eat it or build houses with it.
You are saying government gold the government has is used to buy bonds. What give the bond value & how much cold is used (& thanks for the word salad). You actually have no idea how money is created, nor can you explain how much gold is used, or government has & what tuns that &/or bonds, to currency.
What if taxes became voluntary, instead of mandatory. You choose to pay for the services you need/want and the ones that are not helpful will shut down.
So basically what America was supposed to be
Yes
Giving people the choice of starving the government if they aren't happy with it?
Ha ha, that's a good one.
"when you shout "give me liberty or death" the state will happily give you the later"
the state cant be fixed since its based on theft.
I would be in favour of holding regular plebiscites that decide how our taxes are invested.
For me:
10% military spending
20% education
30% healthcare
15% Policing and domestic security.
25% Social welfare (to help pensioners, children in the care system, homeless people, people in financial hardship, disabled people etc.)
And other people do their own percentages of how much of their taxes should be invested in what and an average is worked out. The final figures can be used to guide the central government on matters which concern the people most.
25 trillion dollars won't go missing from pentagon LOL
@Revolutionary Communist Pentagon is a government body. That means, it is basically socialist.

There are many countries with 0% income tax and they’re doing very well.
xGqt X if you have lots of oil or some other money source (which no big nation has) yes
If not nah
Resist NOW But how? Tax the Companies? They move abroad
A value added tax? It hits the customers (us) just like the income tax
Tax the others who are buying US products? They stop buying them as they are too expensive
Those countries still find ways to pay for its ammonites
Those places have oil
There are many companies that are not run by taxes... Any industry that needs to be funded through theft clearly the people don't want it...
What if we stop paying taxes
Freedom
Robin Hood Yeah there is. It’s called government. If I wish to make a private transaction, what gives a third party (Government) the right to say that I must take a percentage of the sum used to pay in said transaction and give it to them? What gives them the right to hold property that I’ve bought and own for ransom and force me to continue to pay for it without locking me in a cell? Please stop worshipping the government to the point where you actually defend it. Tax collectors should be strung from trees and Tories/statists should be shot in the fields.
Not freedom. It is free *doom*
+Fox King47
Yeah. The freedom to be killed by either some pillaging gang members, because there's no police. Or by some pillaging foreing soldier (because there are no defence forces).
You know, I think anarchy can only exist in American where there are more guns than people,
I think anarchy can only exist in America where there are more guns than people. That every dick, tom and Henry can defend their property with an effective weapon, not like back in old days you only have a spear to fight off an axe wielding thug .
And that the people has an effective way to communicate to associates, to form up an militia strong enough to defense each city or choke point in rural area. To take up arm against Mexican invasion force.
Think of winter war between Finland and Russian. But why would Mexico try to invade USA? USA is Mexico’s biggest trade partner. Unless they want to take over the avocado farm in California. But of course, they can buy it with money. Surely it’s cheaper than losing a battalion worth of spillers and tanks.
There is no such thing as "free".
you must be from north korea
Air, dip shit
This clown has no idea where the money (national currencies, that is) comes from. & no, the government does not print it, create it (in any other way) or give it value. There isn't even a law that says you have to use this currency. That in itself would nullify so called tax laws, if the governments of this world were fair & honest, but then, that's not the governments job.
You can legally by a house outright, for Monopoly money or gold wrapped chocolate coins, if that's ok with the hungry, sweet toothed seller.
Hmm....
There is and it's called; "Death"
This videos logic: the government takes your money, to give you free services, paid for with a fraction of the money they took from you, while the rest is pocketed by the government. Such a productive government
well my friend if the government gives you back 100% of the money they took from you, then how are they going to pay the people who work for the government?
have you ever gone to a restaurant?they charge you more than the food actually costs to make,it's because they want profits and they need to pay their workers.
@@sKxapFarbxqjk528khjlwv 1: Income shouldn't even be taxed, consumption should only be taxed.
2: They shouldn't be turning a profit. That means they are inefficient with the funds.
3: 100% of the value of the taxes should be flowing back to the people that paid the taxes (that's the whole point in paying taxes if any at all). This means in the form of safe roads, free education, free universal healthcare, universal basic income, safety personnel and services etc etc.
@@user-dr9gs6wh1k And the government can't even provide the services listed better than the free market
@@dmtlover3128 dude, majority of the things you use on a daily basis were invented from government funded research, aka tax payer money. How can you possibly say that the government wouldn’t be able to provide services when majority of developed countries are doing it and their standards of living are better than the U.S. if a restaurant didn’t make a profit that doesn’t mean that the workers don’t get paid. Profit shows market inefficiency. If businesses didn’t shoot for profit or quarterly infinite growth then our standards of living would be at our maximum capabilities and we would be moving forwards as a society.
I'm not saying they can't im saying they do it worse than if the true free market was able to run and alot of the stuff listed like education, roads and healthcare if fully privatized with no red tape regulation then we would be able to have an efficient system like the good ol days before the mass government intervention in the economy.
Title correction: What would happen if the government stopped stealing from its citizens?
Nice. The goverment should make their own money. If they make their own money then it is a private property and they no longer be "goverment". Just people with power.

I understand the government needs some income from taxes. But right now, at least in Texas, I think we still give up too much of our checks
Sam Leslie you Texans pay very little in taxes. I live in New York and taxes are high
I live in Texas. We don't even have a state income tax. What are you talking about?
I stand by what I say. I believe we still pay too much. It's my money that I earned and worked for. We fought a revolution over taxes that were much less than we pay now
Sam Leslie - Agreed. Taxes should be bare minimum. We should not be paying for a $100,000+ government officials, useless experiments, and unnecessary products that nobody uses. Taxes are too high everywhere, but government spends too much so they will continue to steal more and more from the people at their will.
Lets elaborate. The colonists declared independence and became 'criminals' and 'cop killers', after dumping all the tea in the harbor for a 3 percent tax on it, against the most powerful empire on earth at the time. That takes balls, and destiny. Wussies like the ones in the comment section deserve to pay taxes, because they are well-trained cowardly slaves who would never dare to work 'outside' the system.
Taxes are not required to keep things running. We did it in the 20s just fucking fine.
Bad gov money management, corrupted politicians, 90% of people don't understand money... some of my guesses
What? The 20s weren't that great. If you wanna talk about corrupt politicians, take a look at the Harding Administration from 1920 - 1922. Polio and many other diseases were rampant. 1921 actually saw an unemployment rate of 11.9. There was a federal income tax, but it was very low for most people. Very few people graduated from high school before the 1940s. There were also a fuck ton of tariffs (you know, trade taxes!) on imported goods which basically set us up for THE GREAT DEPRESSION. You couldn't have picked a worse time of economic responsibility in the United States.
As in they had railroads schools public services with no taxes.
You are right about railroads (although that's a complicated issue. There are good videos about them by Wendover Productions.) Private schooling was only, and still mostly is, for the wealthy. Public services, like police and other emergency services, have always been government funded. Things like infrastructure weren't really important until the 40s because so few people owned cars. As the standard of living and the GDP per capita rise, so do taxes to uphold those things.

The Utopiano Utopioan
Well, tax seems cheaper than paying for your own school lol
You don't need to pay for your own school, idiot. You pay to a guy who runs education business.
This video made me want to revolt and stop paying taxes.
The government schools are *not* free. We pay for them with our own tax dollars, and in many states in the United States, it comes out of *property taxes.* Granted, the amount paid in property taxes does end up making it like a rather long and affordable extended payment plan. However, historically speaking, in my home state of Kentucky at least, the private school system subsidizes the government school system in that the parents of private school students still have to pay property taxes for funding the government schools *even if* they *never* had their children use those schools *and even if* they themselves *never* used those government schools.
Also, roads and road maintenance can be done easily by the private sector. The advantage that government gives us is the absence in toll roads.... except, well, when governments want to have a few toll roads anyway.
There's also no reason why we cannot have private sector electricity.
Master Chief, Why do you pay?
@Vasser Melon tell me again why the education system needs to be overpriced
@@creativeideas012 because the state give them blank cheque which they shouldn't.
They give school money but not strictly regulate them to be cheap.
We are speaking without the full picture here.
"But who would build the roads?": The Video
Filthy Capitalist how would a private industry gain financially from building roads? (without tolls that would deter people)
Jason Balius "without using the one way to monetize a road"
exactly, that's why almost all roads are crowdfunded through taxes
If they weren't funded through stealing from us at gunpoint, they'd be funded through tolls.
If our taxes actually went to building roads, it'd be one thing. But that's not what our taxes go to. They go to the warmachine.
Also, taxes aren't "crowdfunding". They are theft at the worst, extortion at their best. With crowdfunding, you get to pick if you fund it or not.
Inb4 taxes are voluntary
*+Filthy Capitalist* _"Also, taxes aren't "crowdfunding". They are theft at the worst, extortion at their best. With crowdfunding, you get to pick if you fund it or not."_
Wouldn't utility bills and subscription fees also be considered extortion and not crowdfunding or would you consider private service as an exception to your philosophy because you're being rewarded service for paying and not punished for not paying, or because membership can be cancelled without moving but you have to leave the US to avoid paying taxes to the US?
What if our tax money stopped going to corporate welfare while they themselves pay $0 in taxes annually?
1. I believe that tax money should stop being given to corporations
2. You're wrong about how much they pay as the top 40% pay over 93% of all American taxes
"But how will we build the roads?"
Well, user fees obviously. Your income taxes doesn't go to cover the road. Gas tax and tolls pay for them, meaning those that use the roads pay for them. This could work really well if implemented in a unique way for most things that we need in our day to day lives.

Would have been much interesting to see how tax money usage could be improved instead of removing tax all together. The question is not if taxes are a bad thing, but if the money could be better used so we could minimise wastful public expenses
History would show that taxes are a bad thing given how they have always been collected, what the purposes of a tax are for, and how waste inevitably happens and later grows from how taxes are collected.
Robin Hood, yeah. Through fear, threats, and coercion through physical violence, jail, and/or death, under a compulsory system, run by killers, thieves, and liars, to force innocent people to comply. Anarchy does not always equal chaos. It can also mean a simple absense of government. I don't really subscribe to anarchy though. A limited government with low taxes is ideal.
There is not such thing as a "simple absence of government". If the government dissolved today, or even gradually over several years, it wouldn't work out.
Cinestar Productions There is such a thing and it is called anarchy. That is an actual definition. What you are saying is that real anarchy doesn't exist anywhere and it probably never will. Theoretically, anarchy obviously exists. Anarchy exists at the end of a spectrum and is not practical or ideal. Most things in life exist on a spectrum and compromise between extremes are always ideal.
The way I meant to phrase it (it is hard to tell through text) was that there is no such thing as a SIMPLE absence of government. It would not be an easy thing, or one that is possible. It is a similar concept to communism in that it would not work well with people given that we are extremely flawed, irresponsible, and irrational.
Cinestar Productions No problem. I think we are on the same page.
have you heard of a place called auroville? look it up
What would happen if no one paid taxes? A similar thing to what happened for much of world history before 2000 bc ( outside of the major empires of the time ) and a similar thing to what occurred throughout most of American history before 1913 and the " progressive " era, and that is barely existent governments that stayed out of the people's way, rather than putting endless regulations on businesses and everything else like the case is today. If people stopped paying taxes, governments would inevitably shrink drastically or disappear forever, this would lead to everyone being much much freer. The problems caused by the state would largely or completely disappear, this would mean no police brutality, no people in jail for victimless " crimes " , everyone having opportunities to open and run businesses, etc. The goods and services provided mainly or completely by the state would be provided by private businesses, co ops and charities, which unlike govt agencies, would be held much much more accountable. Pretty much all government services have been provided by private entities before the state monopolized them or at least started heavily regulating them. Also, without taxation, people would be able to afford the private options, and even if some people can't afford them, there'd be charities to help!
Quick Answer: People would be more happy :D
I wouldn't be. That's how we get our income tax checks every year.
DarkLight - Competition creates choice. This isn’t a biased opinion, it’s just a fact in any economic school of thought. Government is monopoly, how many high schools were you “allowed” to go to? One, the closest one that matched your zip code or was in your county. How many roads can you go on that aren’t government owned? Essentially zero.

I wonder what the effects on technology would be 🤔
Sony Guirand depends on what the masses would volunteer to put their niney into, seeing as a good chunk of modern day tech is heavily subsidized.
With no financial buget to fund new stuff like SpaceX, CrowdStrike, Ring, System1 ect ect There would litteraly be no more technological progress. Even existing products like powerplants, transportships, weapons and waterplants can not be mentained. The only thing that will remain is craft which can be made by one person, like spears and bows. Not much more i gues.
Most likely be way more innovative because companies can put more money into their products and employees. Also, patents would not be a thing since it involves Government force so, old ideas can be copied and made much better for a cheaper price.
Short answer is not so much, technology requires the construction of complex and comprehensive supply lines. Such complex and comprehensive supply lines can't be created because there would be no courts to oversee the proper execution of contracts, contracts that would guarantee that corporations would be able to obtain the necessary man power and materials needed to perform business as well as shareholder rights. No new fiber optic lanes would be built because to many liabilities would be created in the absence of gov't and you can't even bother with fabricating microprocessors since one of your truckers can up and leave with several tonnes of precious rare earth minerals needed for microprocessor production without any legal ramification.
That is just stupid. All these things could be done by private businesses.

A corporation is just a legal concept in which courts will consider an organization to be a separate entity from the people who own and operate it, it's basically a loophole created to avoid personal responsibility. Also any business that wants to incorporate needs to apply for that status with the government. So corporations can't take over in the absence of a state because they literally can't exist without a government to give them special privileges.
Taxation isn't theft, tax "WITHOUT" representation is.
Mis-using public money for your own benefit without the will of the people though, it is wrong.
Taxes aren't paid voluntarily. Taxation is theft
@@calebf3655 Its more like armed robbery because if you resist, you will be killed by the state's goons.
Can you please do, What if the Government did their Job? or what if Rich Parties paid their Taxes?
Thank You :D!
iloveplayingpr its no accident that we are 10x more skeptical of freedom than government actions
I don't care who the IRS sends, I am not paying taxes!
Then they will take you to jail
Funny, there was no taxes until 1913 and even then we had all these things after that tax was only 1% and we magically still had all that

Taxes aren’t the problem the problem is the amount we pay and the consequents that come if we don’t pay them
" Which one of us can compute what he pays to the government in hidden taxes with every purchase he makes ? "

Taxation is the arm of the government; without the ability to tax, the government has no ability to govern. In effect, a government power ceases where it can no longer tax.
Thats how you see "life isnt free."
So short said. Dream for us employees but nightmare for employers and government
Not really.
Mexico would pay for United States' expenses
If every thing was FREE would we have this problem AND what would happen if everything was free
Shanyla Curry if everything was free that would result in no supply but a high demand. Or/And communism.
Shanyla Curry
Great. Why don’t you move to the Communist Soviet Union?
Oh wait, it collapsed.
Oh yeah we just got done learning about supply and demand in school and for some reason I just didn't think of it in that way
Nothing is free, it might be free on the shelves but the labour that was necessary to create the product isn’t free. They must be compensated and a free product hurts business, the worker, the society in general, etc. incentive would also be an issue because you want a reward for the work you put in. This was seen in communist russia as their planes were subpar due to their workers not giving a shit. If everything was free the area would fall into chaos, black friday causes riots and the product isn’t even free. The riots that happen when everything is free is much worse. Free stuff leads to chaos...
Tax should not be more than 2% of our earning....
No taxation = No government, No government = No laws, No laws = Anarchy.
Anarchy->Warlords->Feudalism
And history will repeat itself... :c
