  • Tri-Stringer is one of the most underrated backline weapons. People shrug it off as a "bad Charger" or to be a less consistant option. Its strengths lie in its poking ability and OneShot threat. You can control space with Toxic Mist and
    bombs from charged shots. Killer whail helps confirming splats not only for yourself, but for your teammates. In my opinion this weapon should be played in Tower Control, Clam Blitz and Turf War, as it can control space. You will have a hard time keeping up with teammates and opponents in Turf War and Rainmaker.
    Here is the build : sendou.ink/ana...
    Thermal Ink is great for this weapon as you're rarely going to splat someone immediately and it gives you information on the targeted player for 16s.
    If you are confident in your abilities to stay safe, Respawn Punisher is AMAZING and a very strong anti-meta ability.
    Ideally, you want on EVERY build :
    -1 Sub of Ink Resistance
    -1 Sub of Bomb Defense
    -1 Sub of Special Saver
    Ink Main Saver is a luxury and as you are more and more proficient with a weapon, the less you will need. I run a main to keep up with other weapons as it's inking capabilities are relitively weak.
    I slot in Special Charge to always have Killer Whail up, ready to push/counter-push.
    Some Run Speed is good since you cannot hold charge with this weapon and you will need to get behind cover while charging shots.

    I sunk in a lot of time into playing Tri-Stringer and I insanely love the versatility of the weapon. I combined it with Tenacity for a better special charging rate (when there's less teammates and less floor to cover), Thermal Ink for highlighting my targets and taking them out behind cover, and Object Shredder just to boost the damage against the Rainmaker barrier a bit.

    I love the tri stringer and the reeflux even though they are so tough to be consistent with. I really like the tri stringer’s kit, able to help threaten backline with the killer wail and defend against slayers in chokepoints with the toxic mist. Nice vid and commentary!

    Post-game commentary is more informative and easier to learn from, while live commentary is more entertaining.
    The two different styles are just different experiences that I’d say are equally as good of a video.

      This is valuable feedback as I find live commentary more engaging, but harder to do for weapons I'm less familiar with. Post-game really allows me to point out things, but requires so much analysis it's a bit overwhelming 😅

    I think that the tri stringer is easier than a charger at least for me. I play all types of weapons. I skirmish with slosher, I backline with ballpoint, I slay with Luna, suport with undercover, I play a lot of weapons. This is because if I start feeling like people aren’t playing a weapon type on a day, than I can fill that roll. Today no one wanted to suport so I played squelcher from 10 to 12 o clock. Chargers are the one class I can’t play. I can kinda play squiffer, but I can’t play e- liter or charger. I think it’s because I am not mobile unlike splatlings, have a charge unlike sloshers, and don’t have a big hit box like bows. All the back lines I play. Chargers are the highest skill ceiling backline because they don’t have any gimmicks. I’m gonna try to become better.

      That sounds like a better way to approach gear guide videos than I was thinking of doing ! Thanks for the idea. I'm currently working on making a Gearset for every weapon in the game, you can check out what I have for now at sendou.ink/u/seggtor/builds

    It’s not that it doesn’t have it’s own unique strengths, it’s that the skill floor to use those strengths is ridiculous compared to any other weapon, which makes it look like a poor investment to people.
    Also this is personal but I think the shoehorned gimmick of it shooting 3 shots you need to all hit is a bit of a frustrating game design. Bows in other shooter games are much more satisfying to me because of the one arrow it fires, so I hope a single shot variant comes out at some point.

    • @Seggtor
      @Seggtor  Год назад +4

      I think the weapons skill floor is not too bad, you can still do well early on unlike chargers imo. The "oneshots" are a bit too hard to get, I agree. I like the idea of a single shot Stringer, but would prefer if they tightened the 3 shots at 2 charges, making it feel more like a charger (reward for long charge deserved).

    • @vanilla8956
      @vanilla8956 Год назад +1

      @@Seggtor I think that understandability and approachability are important for a skill floor too though. Chargers are in the same lane as other weapons like the rail gun from Quake and Unreal Tournament or snipers in general, if you hit, full reward, if you miss, zero reward. This is very high risk vs reward but it’s so simple that any new player can understand how you’re supposed to use it instantly because of how it takes after similar weapons from other games.
      With the Tri Stringer however, even if someone loves the Huntsman in Team Fortress 2 and Hanzo from overwatch and etc, there’s going to be a lot that they are confused about. “Why do some of these hits not kill? Why and when would I want to use the vertical shot vs the horizontal? Why are there 2 separate charges? Should I be memorizing the exact parabola arc of the shot to hit people from the sky?” Why is it so hard to paint the ground in front of me? And etc.”
      I don’t think the Tri-Stringer is bad but I do think it’s bad that it’s presented as the default option. In Splatoon 2, they marketed the duelies heavily because it fires from 2 guns, In Splatoon “2.” And now they’ve done the same with the tri stringer and put it on the front cover of the box because it fires from 3 barrels in Splatoon “3.” But other tricky and adaptable weapons like tri stringer are never also the default only option, such as flingza roller, squeezer, or nozzlenoze. Instead they are added afterwards to be a more advanced option for those who want to take the challenge of a weapon with a much higher skill floor after they have already become comfortable with the lower skill floor weapons like the splattershot. With Stringers you need to jump right into the harder version, choose if you want close range or long range, and then go. I can only hope that a simpler one arrow bow is added later at least to build a bridge so that the tri stringer can be more approachable and eased into, but also because I would prefer it greatly.

      @@vanilla8956 They didn't want to make Charger 2.0. I agree that the affordance of the weapon is not great. i appreciate the 3 bombs from the weapons as it opens up a completely new playstyle.

    I’ve spent some good time with both Splatana and Stringer, and so far I prefer Stringer. It’s 1-shot isn’t as easy as chargers but it’s a good surprise considering there’s no reticle. Plus, fall-off kills are super fun to land. Meanwhile Splatana takes a bit to make work as the 1-shot is finicky and the damage is so-so, but I have yet to try Stamper so I’ll see how I feel.
