- SIG Dropped a couple new P226s at the SIG Next event this week. The first a super high dollar high end P226 XFive Reserve which has everything they offer on guns. The P226 40th Anniversary is true to what the P226 used to be and is in a retro box.

The 226 was the cool guy gun when I first got into guns in the early 80's.
The 226 and 229 are still the cool guy guns😁
@@JD-tn5lz Indeed. If you know, you know.
@@JD-tn5lzabsolutely
Bought my 226 14 years ago and it’s still my EDC. I have to say though, Sig has so many versions now they just confuse me.
@@garyokie4893 With the addition of these two just announced models, Sig currently offers 8 variations of the P226.
I love the Sig marketing team, they need a huge raise. Just bump up the MSRP 20%, the customer wont mind a bit.
You're right.
Because Sig will sell every single one of them that they make.
All of them.
If you can't afford $1200 for a brand new all-metal hammer-fired da/sa from a reputable manufacturer, maybe you should go back to Tisas land.
Biggest small arms company on the planet for a reason, and it ain't just marketing.
@@JD-tn5lz"stop being poor"
@@fullm3taljacketnope, stop being addicted to Consumerism.
How many pistols do you need?
You don't have to be well-off to spend $1200 on a high-quality item...now, you may need to take your Tisas and Ruger and XD to the pawnshop to get the cash.
Just remember, if someone somewhere isn't making profit somehow, you're scratching at roots for supper.
@@JD-tn5lzreputable? Doh kay
I got a used (still brand new) P226 for $900. $1200 is insane. CZ Shadow is $1200 at my LGS.
And the CZ is modern pistol
@@junderwood6633 CZ-75 is like 10 years older than the P226.
Yeah.. I got a used p229 with red dot for eight.. might as well be brand new.
These money grabs are crazy. But I guess if they can find buyers, go for it
I recently attended a Camp Legion event. A P226 Reserve followed my home. As for the 40th. I have a 35yr old Yellow Box with papers, and test target, P226, made in W. Germany.
As someone that has carried Sigs since 1994 I like the 22X series most. While everyone claims the German guns are great the failure point was in the stamped slide. We ran a lot of rounds through 228’s and a common issue was the roll pin would break that holds the steel breech block in the slide. The solid steel slides didn’t have that issue. It took a lot of rounds to get there in the West German ones but still something to look for. Will always have a Sig 226
When I first saw the reserve, I was like - oh hell yeah, I need that! I was thinking I’d finally become a P226 owner. Then I heard the price and was like oh hell no.
Sad.
Shop online, there are police trade-ins out there for often much less than $600.
Why would you think this would be less than a current base P226 which is already $1K?
yeah they need chill the prices...
@@JD-tn5lz You are referring to standard P226s - the Reserve just came out and there's no police departments shooting with that one.
@@danielhenderson8316 Where did I say I was thinking it would be less than the current base or less than $1k?
That price of $1200 is insane when Beretta 92s go for 650.
You could get the reserve instead.. it's only twenty-eight hundred
Also filled with lowest bidder Indian small parts. Trash company grifting off marketing and legacy designs that they’ve ruined.
Ans the beretta is 10x reliable
@@RabbiTosmiser There has literally been extensive military trials of these two pistols going head to head.. 10x did not happen
@@calholli more reliable still I exaggerated

I mean I like the p226 but I'd just as soon get a police trade-in. Dear lord $1200.
sig is pretty well hitting the crack pipe!
Yeah, same. They're out there if you look.
However, I expect that $1200 in 2024 is a good deal compared to the 1984 dollars price and do the inflation adjustment.
Ya know, it used to be that purchasing a handgun was a major investment and something that people didn't consume like popcorn like they do now.
Plus, in the 1980's and earlier, handguns were for cops or criminals. Maybe an exaggeration, but "you sure couldn't hunt ducks with that" mentality.
@@leftyo9589naw. $1200 for a quality all-metal hammer-fired da/sa? Nope, that's perfectly reasonable.
Why would you watch his videos if you expect to buy any of these guns at JiffyLube wages?
It's not when you can buy a Beretta for much cheaper.
A fool and his money are easily parted @@JD-tn5lz
$1200 for the 40th Anniversary is ridiculous when you can easily find clean used original P226s for less than that.
Noice. Love my West German made P226. Looky. It's GB Guns in the background! I really enjoy you guys working together. Shows on your channels. And as always, thanks for the share!!
I really like the idea of the Reserve (price aside), but I hate that sig makes all of its fancier p220 series pistols single action only.
Like the P series of Sigs, but due to riding the slide release, they stay in the safe. I did put a legion release on my P228 and it helps.
I need an XFive in DA/SA
Great guns. One day, some day I intend to get a P226 or P229. It may be a P220 in 10 also.
Some may complain that Sig has way too many choices for each of their models. I, however, think it's great that they make all these choices so that most people don't need to modify them much. In addition, some people like myself have decades of experience with the p226 and we love some of the quirky versions they release. I've gifted p226 versions to family members on more than one occasion and nobody has complained.
They just keep dancing all around the models I want. A 226 and a 229. Da/sa. Full stainless. Optic ready. It that too damn much to ask for?
I think you forgot about the Reserve, it's limited run, supposedly fewer than 1000 will be made! also, that 40th edition is cool, but might as well get one of the other editions that has all the optics and light holding capabilities. I'd want a 226 that's DA, no SAO, no matter how good it might be...
The 40th Anniversary Edition is DA/SA.
Uh no. They're da/sa and they're sao, unless you're that oddball that wants a DAK.
I've heard tales of some people once existing that liked DAK, but I don't believe all the stories I hear.
Dang, David - you're now hanging with the Super Influencers!
That shiny one does look pretty stable in action.
at the kick off of the event Tom Taylor, EVP of Marketing referred to 38 different media outlets at the event. I'm a media outlet.
Sig has gone crazy on pricing
hey, but they include a fancy cardboard box!
Hoping they come out with a Spectre Legion Rose Virtus model of this platform. Or maybe a X Macro X5 NRA XL Tac Ops Edition.
The names are getting ridiculous, but on the other hand it’s impossible to even get Glock to do an MOS version of all their guns…
I'm more interested in your stainless x5 p226.
So here is the quandary,
How does the Sig P226 x5 legion that can be purchased for $2199 (and will fit in an IDPA box) and the P226 X5 at $2299,
compare to a CZ Shadow 2 Optics Ready at $1350 😮with a Cajun Gun Works trigger job at $435 and & $60 optics plate & shipping both ways at $200 (2045 total)?
I would appreciate any input from those who have shot them, please (maybe a comparison review 😁).
Cheers, Tony
Haha on the heavy drinker joke!! 1200 bucks, nfb for me....
The classic P226 40th Anniversary is cool but 1200$ is a bit much!
I’ll stick with my p226 xfive legion.
🇺🇸
I wonder how the quality of these new special edition Sigs compare to the old German Mastershop models.
the german guns were oversized guns hand fit down to be functional so they have a custom 2011 style feel. The American guns are designed to a tolerance and precision machined then assembled. So it won't feel like the old german one - but it will shoot like it.
There are a lot of myths about the old German guns. They were certainly good, but 30 years later, gun making has actually come a long way, even though everyone wants to believe "if it's older (and/or German) it must be better."
@@bsmithhammerabsolutely correct. The tolerances and standards have improved tremendously and yes [heresy alert], the American made Sigs of today are generally higher quality than anything Sig made in Germany.
So is the Reserve better than your X5?
when on when will the release better slide kits than the "pro cut slides"
im talking short slides for 226s
long slides for 229
integrated comp slides for both.
Love Sig P220 DA/SA series firearms! To light a trigger on the first round of a defensive firearm seems out of place!
Didn’t Arex or some off brand company make a clone of this? Wonder how these two would compare…
$2800 is a whole lot of money. 😂 I have more then that in the standard 226rx on my hip. All manner of AC and GG parts, RDS, threaded barrel, aftermarket grips, mags and upgraded base plates, griffin cam lok system for my suppressor... etc.
How many guys have that in 320 or 365 buying aftermarket parts??
I bet there are a few but not a ton
@TheHumbleMarksman then why are the parts always sold out and I have to be wait listed? Try to get an AC or GG hammer for a p226. They both just came back in stocks I bet in a week their out. It's like the Romeo 2 or the new enclosed trijicon. It takes a year plus bc everyone is buying it out all the time.
Sig marketing knows how to hook the fanboys. Release the same gun in 50 different models none of which function any better than any other.
Ok, his videos are now showing up on RUMBLE so get over there. Utube put in new policies, show you've had enough and move to RUMBLE
So, being that we’re SIG and so cool, let’s dig up that old design of ours, call it an anniversary edition and charge 1200$ for it. Oh wait, even better, we’ll put it in that cheap old card board box again and make even more money off people hahaha! I mean seriously!?! I can appreciate the heritage of iconic firearms but that price for such a featureless gun in today’s market is a joke
You want things for free? Remember that a profit somewhere somehow puts food on your table.
Sig will sell every single one of these at the price they ask. Every single one.
Oh, and about the box. Back in the day Sig boxes were either blue or red. Boxes, not cases.
Cases are a fairly new thing as general expectations.
Frankly, who the he** uses the plastic boxes for anything? None of them (very very few) actually properly secure and virtually none hold range gear. They're kinda stupid.
P226 mk 25mk is 1100. I rather have a mk25 and it's cheaper. the retro gun should be priced at the same as a based p226 which is 900 to 1000. Sig is pulling a colt thinking people will pay more just because of your name
That you would pay $1100 for a Mk 25 speaks volumes about your credibility. You just chomped into a marketing trap.
Oh, and yes, Sig will sell every single one of these they make.
Too bad this will never be available in California... Or any other premium gun for that matter.
I have the X5 stainless, is the reserve worth $500 more? Is it better than the legion?
It’s a limited edition - it’s a display gun - it’s not a lot different in the hand than an 226 Xfive Legion
@@TheHumbleMarksman I think I want it then if it's a limited edition. I'll tell the wife it's for the kid's future inheritance lol
@@Moderndaycowboy74 Only making about 500 of them
@@TheHumbleMarksman Does the extra six ounces in weight in the XFive Reserve (48 oz v 42 oz) help? or make a difference?
I paid 1200 for the legion many moons ago when it first came out. 1200 for a gun without a rail, that comes in a shoe box is a joke.
esp when real-deal classic P226s are out there for less
Why would anyone buy these pistols? The P226 Legion SAO is a phenomenal pistol for $99 dollars more than the 40th anniversary and half the cost of the X5. Who is buying this?
Collectors
Sighs lost their minds with the current pricing structure….
A carboard shoe box for a $1200 gun? Nope
crazy aint it.
So do you choose your new truck based on the floormats?
Geesh, boxes get put away and never get looked at a second time.
I came to the comments 1st,and when I was watching the Reserve info I was thinking "1200 for that doesn't seem that far off" then he said 2800 😂🤣😂🤣
And then started reviewing the 40th anniversary edition.
The basic version should be no more the 700, 800 tops. That's ridiculous
@@JD-tn5lz yep
That's an impressively dumb way to look at it. Well done.
1200 for no rail. No optic cut. Old tech. Fail
There are many people trained to “ in a fight, front sight”. There is no need for a slide cut or rail. Complete home run!
retro for twelve hundred
reserve for twenty-eight hundred..
yeah.. no
ANOTHER Sig lol
I have only 2 more videos on the stuff at SIG Next... then I'll be done for a minute.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Oh, it’s not you man. I appreciate the videos, I just feel like they release a new pistol every week. It’s bizarre.

Your world is more interesting than mine
well i am european so culturally ahead how's higgin's
Yeah because all other pistols from Sig are junk other than the 226…
