My bad SoulHeights. I feel like such an idiot, but the truth is, I do overexplain sometimes, and it's clearly something I need to work on, and I've actually been told that since I was a little kid. I think the overexplaining problem probably started when I was about three. My mom used to give me these books with lots of bright colors and sounds, and then after I looked at them for a while she'd always ask me to describe to her what I'd seen in the book, and then she'd praise me more if my explanation was more detailed and maybe a little bit less if my description was a little more vague (even though she was always super supportive, and an attentive loving mom even to this day; she and my dad are still alive and doing well, and they even offer me great feedback and suggestions on my videos and podcasts that I do on the internet, so I'm not saying she did anything wrong here). Now look, she was probably just trying to nurture my communication skills and improve my ability to interact with adults and with the written word, but that kind of thing sticks with a kid, and I pretty soon I found myself carefully explaining things to my coaches, my teachers, classmates, people at church, teammates, cashiers, this one guy named Ted who my parents were friends with, but I'm not quite sure what he did for a living or even where they met him. But I can tell you this, Ted was a cool guy, and he would always ask the best follow up questions. I think one time Ted was with us at some kind of family pizza party at this little privately-owned pizza joint and arcade, and he let me explain the plot of all the video games in the arcade to him for hours. That was a great day, and I think I became a way better explainer after that. I heard Ted died a while back, which is sad because he was a great listener and also great at Dig Dug. Do you know what Dig Dug is? Oh man, where to even begin with the classic video game Dig Dug? I think it's safe to say that anyone who was a fan of arcade games back in the day has at least heard of this one, if not actually played it themselves. For those who might not be familiar, let me try to explain: So, in Dig Dug, you play as this little guy (whose name is, you guessed it, Dig Dug) who has to navigate through a series of underground tunnels and caverns, all while avoiding or defeating various monsters and other hazards. The game is set up on a grid, and you use the joystick to move Dig Dug around and use the buttons to make him dig tunnels or use his trusty air pump to inflate and defeat the enemies. The main objective of the game is to clear each level of all the enemies, which can be quite a challenge at times. There are four different types of enemies in total: the round, red Pookas, the green, dragon-like Fygars, the grey rocks that fall from the ceiling, and the little white balls that chase you around. Each one has its own unique characteristics and behaviors, so you have to be strategic in how you approach them. One of the most interesting aspects of Dig Dug, in my opinion, is the way that you can use the terrain to your advantage. You can dig tunnels through the dirt to create paths or blockades, and you can also use your air pump to collapse the ground and trap enemies or cause them to fall into pits. This adds a layer of strategy to the gameplay, as you have to think about the layout of each level and how you can use it to your advantage. Of course, no classic arcade game would be complete without power-ups, and Dig Dug has a few of those as well. You can collect vegetables (yes, vegetables) to earn points, and there are also special items that give you temporary invincibility or speed boosts. These can come in handy when you're in a tight spot and need a little extra help to make it through a particularly tricky section. All in all, Dig Dug is a classic game that has stood the test of time and continues to be enjoyed by fans of all ages. It's a simple yet challenging game that requires quick reflexes and strategic thinking, and it's definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. Anyways Ted died of an aneurism, which is horrible. I still think about him sometimes, and I definitely know he is missed by so many. I didn't know what an aneurism was, but I went back and did some reading, and wow! It's a scary thing! Okay, so an aneurism is like this thing that can happen in your blood vessels, right? And it's when, like, a part of the vessel gets weak or something and then it balloons out and it's really dangerous. I think it's like, if it bursts or something, it can cause bleeding in your brain and that's really bad. I'm not totally sure how it happens, but I think it might have something to do with, like, your genes or your lifestyle or something. I know that some people are more prone to getting an aneurism than others. And I think it's more common in older people, but it can happen to anyone at any age. So if you think you might have an aneurism, you should definitely go to the doctor and get it checked out. They might do some tests or something to see if you have one and then they'll figure out the best way to treat it. I think sometimes they can fix it with surgery or something, but it's really serious so you definitely want to catch it as soon as possible. I don't know, that's all I really know about aneurisms. Sorry if I'm not making a lot of sense, I'm just really excited to be able to talk about something I learned about. Anyways, that pizza place where I ate with Ted and all those other families also made sloppy joe sandwiches and I still remember the first time I had one of these bad boys. It was back in the day, when I was just a young fella. I had never had anything quite like it before. You see, a sloppy joe is a sandwich that's piled high with ground beef, onions, and a special sauce. It's served on a bun, and it's just about the messiest, most delicious thing you've ever eaten. The sauce is sweet and tangy, and it's got just the right amount of kick to it. The beef is juicy and flavorful, and the onions add a nice crunch. And when it's all nestled between two soft, fluffy buns, it's pure heaven. Now, I'll admit, these sandwiches can be a bit of a handful. They're not the kind of thing you can eat neatly, like a PB&J. No, you've got to dive in with both hands and get a little bit messy. But that's part of the fun, isn't it? And the best thing about sloppy joes is that they're so easy to make. All you need is some ground beef, a few onions, and a jar of that special sauce. Then just throw it all in a pan and let it simmer for a bit. Before you know it, you've got a pile of sloppy joe goodness that's just begging to be devoured. I'm not saying sloppy joes are the best kind of sandwich - probably they're far from it - but it's not like you can say that definitively because everyone has their own opinions about sandwiches and some of those opinions get a little intense if you know what I mean. There are just so many different kinds to choose from. It's kind of overwhelming, you know? Like, do you want a cold sandwich or a hot sandwich? Do you want meat or no meat? Do you want it on white bread or something fancy like sourdough or rye? Too many options. But I think the most popular kind of sandwiches are probably the ones that are like, you know, super simple. Like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or maybe just some deli meat and cheese on white bread. Those are like the classics, you know? And they're easy to make, so I can see why they're popular. But personally, I think the best kind of sandwich is one that's a little bit more creative. Like, maybe it has some weird ingredients that you wouldn't normally think to put together, but they work really well. Like, have you ever had a sandwich with avocado and bacon on it? That's like, my all-time favorite. Or maybe something with hummus and roasted vegetables, that's really good too. I don't know, I guess it just depends on what you're in the mood for. Sometimes I just want something simple and easy, but other times I want to be a little bit more adventurous. And I think that's the beauty of sandwiches, you know? There's just so much you can do with them. They're really versatile and there's something for everyone. Anyways, I have to admit, I have a tendency to overexplain things sometimes. It's not something that I do intentionally, but it just happens. I think it's because I get really excited about certain topics or ideas and I just want to share everything I know about them with anyone who will listen. But I know that it can be frustrating for the person on the other end, especially if they're not as interested in the topic as I am. I've had friends and family members tell me that I can be a bit of a "word vomit" at times, and I totally understand where they're coming from. So, I just want to say that I'm sorry if I ever come across as overexplaining things. It's not something that I do to try and show off or anything like that, I just get really passionate about certain things and I want to share that with others. I'll try to be more mindful of it in the future and not go on and on about things that might not be of interest to everyone. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from and that you can forgive me for my tendency to overexplain things.
I don’t know why my comments got deleted or held but there’s an account on Twitter that does just that. It’s really neat and I won’t say the name in case saying the innocuous name of an account posting Christian AI art is the reason it’s gone.
Well the ML models were trained on existing art, and almost all of the existing bible art doesn't come from the last 20 years, it comes from a time when much of Western society had a positive view of the bible
All AI art has an intensely disturbing quality to it. It's difficult to describe, but it reminds me of some dreams I've had since I was a child...there is an vague (again I will use the word) "quality" to it that is intense, that skews perspective, conflates time and space...so, visually stunning at first, then cold and twisted the more you dive in. Very troubling.
I agree that current AI art is often like something out of a surreal dream. I guess that's not surprising when you consider that the AI is doing something similar to what the mind seems to be doing when dreaming - taking disparate random concepts and trying to combine them into a narrative without the governing constraints of waking reality.
'so visually stunning at first, then cold and twisted the more you dive in' Your comment reminds me of the reality of this World. It's beautiful and mesmerizing. But the more you learn about the realities of politics and globalism, the deeper you dig into history and archaeology, science and political sciences......the darker and more disturbed this World begins to look. To have an emotionless machine interpret our World, without previous influence of opinions, no previous experience LIVING in this World, just full on literal interpretation being it's motivator.... it's just fascinating!!!! The results are very intriguing.
Perhaps the missing word is 'Soul'. Cold is a very apt word here.I make a point which is not really connected to AI,& it is this. Some years ago I was looking through some popular Science magazines, the ones where all meaningful human experiences could be explained away by some biological activity, & I literally felt the coldness & soullessness of these journals. We are more than biology, & if stop remembering that AI is,or should be,a tool we are denying our spiritual heritage.
this was our lesson from Sunday school last Sunday. 😅 it is one of my favorites stories about Jesus. The biggest takeaway I get from this story is do not have fear or doubt . God has you in his arms no matter how dark or stormy your life becomes. Keep your eye on him and you will never falter. God bless and keep you .
Like your people sorely do, you are truly lacking understanding and do not know the creator. He demands sacrifice, You'd better find out of what. I can help you understand, if you're humble.Your fathers, have lied to you.The bible OF MY, PEOPLE,SAYS SO.
@@brianperro435 Dude that's an ancient fear mongering belief system made up by humans. You're brainwashed dude and I mean rly rly rly brainwashed. And stop being so weak and naive that you allow whatever is told to you to believe by others who are just as brainwashed as you!!! This is the 21st century. We're not Mayans!
A man in my former church use to do large chalk drawings while he when through a passage in the Bible. They always turned out beautiful. The difference in the experience for me was, I understood this man to be a redeemed follower of Jesus and he was doing it out of obedience and love and inspiration from the Holy Spirit. Watching and waiting to see what the AI would draw actually gave me a slight sense of anxiety.
Don't you understand the meaning you put on the man painting and the ai make up your reality. How you think about it literally affects how you feel and your experience of it
This is because you are taught to be afraid and taught to think negatively. If you truly understand Abba, you are not afraid. Be not afraid. Keep yourself in awareness, not anxiety. Jesus did not have anxiety because He knew the power of ABBA. He CONSTANTLY said not to be afraid. Remember, the Bible does not tell us everything, by FAR. Jesus said He had many things He wanted to tell His disciples but they were not ready to hear them yet. They received some revelations about some mysteries, but not even the half of it. Anxiety comes from fear and God did not give us a spirit of fear. Blessings.✨
From my understanding on how these things work, it's basically sampling/learning from existing images based off some sort of tagging system. So it seems that most religious art matching key words in your prompt that the program uses happens to lean heavily into the sailing/boats symbolism of Christianity. It also seems to focus on the artistic motifs without understanding the context, meaning it invokes genre specific feelings unintentionally and sometimes only manages to get it in the ballpark. All that being said I think you'd get some interesting results if you specified certain artists or genres in the prompt. Just giving it Scripture on its own I think is just signaling it to pull from generic mainstream Christian themed art.
Precisely this. The reason it kept putting Jesus outside the boat is because a ton of art that includes Jesus and boats and storms has Jesus outside the boat - to the point that it actually cut the boat in half in one picture so Jesus could be in the water. Same with the staffs - lots of paintings that contain Jesus and disciples have them holding staffs, so the AI put them in, even though they didn't make sense in context. Also why the art all followed the same general artistic feel, and why the clothes were pretty accurate each time - all of those are consistent across art about Jesus. The AI is just copying things from the image set it was trained on.
Everything an AI system can do it’s based off what we’ve already done as human beings that goes without saying and is common knowledge within the AI world. It’s welcome to puddle around in the world but it’ll never take over traditional Art.
As an artist, AI is powerful and dangerous. Like any tool, it is both incredibly creative and intuitive but also destructive and chaotic.. it truly is a wild time to be here, in this form, during it all. Bless all. 🙏 love and light
Wow I'm interested in perhaps using this technology to help portray the visions and dreams the Holy Spirit has revealed to me so I can reveal them to others
@@riverflow19 everything we have created is a degree of ‘artificial’ but we imbue our will through our efforts and thus AI is an extension of us : separate yet not entirely disconnected
@@darylingoteborg3178 yes, i understand....AI is a manifestation of humanities consciousness. Humanities consciousness is a manifestation of creation consciousness, however you perceive that to be. I guess that it is entirely up to us as to how AI manifests, depending on our intent. I understand that AI itself is inanimate.
Matt, what you should do is type the *entire gospel* into the AI and then ask it to make a picture of the scene where Jesus calms the storm and let the AI try to figure out what to do with it - which is exactly what any human painter would have to do.
Thinking the same thing. You could even go online and copy I paste the chapter you want the AI to work on without all the typing. This was cool though. I want to try this now. Been hooked on this AI since February. I love it.
I'm not sure I completely got my point across. Jesus walking across the water was technically a *miracle,* there is no rational or scientific explanation - it's just impossible - it's a matter of faith. For a human, much less an AI, to treat in a deeply artistic sense, the subject of an event which is completely impossible is art itself. You cannot achieve that level of artfulness by simply aggregating every single previous occurence and dividing by 'n' and and producing a result. Something has to change within you. The production of art changes the artist - does it change Chat-GPT? Maybe. We'll see.
@@MattWhitmanTMBH I believe it. The rebranding from my perspective already shows you're more free to explore other avenues. Not so boxed into one format. I'm excited to see where your creativity takes you.
That is our problem... we take everything to seriously or emotionally. EACH must work out his own path of salvation, to judge someone for learning the 'hard way' - yes, God is using BOTH 'lions'... one calls, the other administers 'faithful wounds', 'scouraging', etc. Consider in Egypt - the more that the Israelites were oppressed the more they 'grew' - this is because there is a synergistic effect to passion, whether it is passion to destroy, or passion to love. Or problem is that we need to flip on the 'love' (our enemies) switch, BEFORE it is only a 'band aid' for tragedy.
It should my friend these people are always trying to mess around with God and his word the Bible is not up for debate it's the true word of God being written by greatmen of God through the Holy Ghost we are not suppose to question God or his ways it's even mentioned in the bible not to question God we have no authority and no right to question him or his ways his ways are not our ways God doesn't see as we do just looking at the flesh he sees our Spirit he sees our heart that's why you felt anxious cause you have a touch of God in you telling you that's wrong I'm thankful your spirit is open to the holy ghost that's what thisr feelings are you feel that is the holy ghost revealing all truth to you just let that inner spirit be your guide and you won't be deceived many are being left in the wrong direction cause they haven't been thought the truth of God and the holy ghost which is our comforter given to us by Jesus it guides and protects us and brings to light everything that's hidden will be brought to the light God bless you and keep you safe

Unfortunately most people think the AI danger will come through some robot uprising e.g Blade Runner or Will Smith film. Sadly we could be wiped out by a relatively small, none physical software program. Could be simple as targeted manipulation through propaganda to destroying Health, Sanitary and food production services with just seconds of access to the Internet. I don't think we should fear Robocop and ED-209 😮✌️
Pretty sure AI has read illustrated biblical art, lol, so yes, it depicted what you’d expect it to. AI knows every detail and word in all languages of the holy Bible.
Very nicely done. My experience with AI art generators is they need an explicit explanation of the picture you want, it can’t infer from some of the text you gave what was expected. Rather than the verse, describe in detail the scene the verse is describing. That will usually give you a more appropriate image. Still it did a pretty good job even with the lack of context. You were on the right track changing “He” to “Jesus”. When you say “the sea” change it to “the Sea of Galilee” etc. Loved the video.
I love this....as a Christian I am absolutely in awe how much this visualizes my own imagery. The first one is "disciples", followers. Not just the twelve. And He had many at first who followed to see His miracles
Here's a hint, you can add certain things to the description like "perfect face, realistic, style of ___, etc" and there should be a negative prompt (though I'm not familiar with this specific generator) that allows you to put in things you don't want such as "mutilated body, more than 5 fingers, etc" and there is a technique for every generator that if you add on {prompt} or [prompt] or (prompt) it will either increase or decrease the importance of a specific word or phrase, those it's different for every one. If you use the increase bracket around the negative prompts, it will further decrease the risk of having that specific prompt you don't want. It's complicated, but can make it much more eerie when you get into the realistic stuff... Especially if you get mutilated figures... I've gotten things that just looking at it gives me an adrenaline rush and I feel like I wanna run away. But good job. Jesus is so incredibly well established in art that it's hard to say the name and not get that image when you type it meaning someone else, like from Spain or Mexico, even if their last name is different.
Hey man, can you send me some photos you define as "extremely eery/scary". Ive seen crazy things on AI art but never saw mutilated bodies. Would love to see.
First time I’ve seen your channel. I’m quite impressed with the images just a few words can bring an image that feels mostly right. Yes context is so important. Having just finished a study of Revelation, I too would love to see how the AI depicts that. I’m subscribed now and looking forward to more presentations. Bless you.
How much can you type in at one time? What would happen if you typed a whole verse? I’d actually like to see more of this, because I find this fascinating
Funny you say this, there was a website in the past where you could type a phrase and you would set a number of translation iterations, let's say 100... and it would take your text and pass it through different translators and command them to translate into a language of its choice, a random language in its iteration. it would take your text and translate it to italian, then chinese, then german, then korean, and so on... you get the idea. The final translated text was always completely different to the original and sometimes super funny.
I use only the KJV and blue willow and stable diffusion have given me some great images that were very closely related to what I prompted..I use images on my RUclips videos.
What I think is super interesting is that in the first image, the amount of disciples wasn’t specified in the submitted text, so it didn’t render a specific number of disciples. It kind of reminded how we can often read more into the scripture than what’s written (obviously we have more context than AI). I’m intrigued.
Excellent take. It looks like all four Gospel writers mean "the twelve" when they say "the disciples," but maybe at times a few went on little side quests. I've always pictured the entire group being there for the whole thing at every moment, but probably there were exceptions. Very interesting thought Larry. Thank you!
@@MattWhitmanTMBH Also Jesus had more disciples than just 12 at first. It's later when he says "whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood shall not die but have eternal life" is when the other disciples left Him
Agreed, but as soon as human eyes and brains and souls interpret this AI art, that human pareidolia phenomenon occurs and we see meanings and patterns that might not be intended but are definitely there. It's wild.
Just found this video and really appreciate the clarifications. What’s interesting to me is that this clearly shows how taking verses out of context can give a “false” idea or meaning to the Word. It’s so important that we always read the Bible as a whole. Read verses as part of a chapter, not just something that pushes an agenda or makes us feel good. I loved this and can’t wait to see what else you will share. I also subscribed!
This video was very interesting, and Roxie, I gotta say, your conclusions are probably the best thing we can draw from this experiment. People can make God's word say pretty much what they want it to say. Matt is NOT doing that... I think he is a Godly man. He's just testing the spirits, as we are told to do.
Or rather Aramaic and Greek as those were the original languages the Bible was written in. The Latin translations didn't come along until a few hundred years later. But the translations done now - those by true bible scholars - have been shown to be quite accurate. The word might not all match depending on HOW they were translating - concepts vrs word-for-word, etc - but the prophecies of the Old Testament and the message of Jesus, why he came and the salvation he offers in the New Testament are still there.
This is what happens when you feed the lines to machine who clearly isn't well versed in the Bible. The dumbest about this AI is it has no clue what it is being asked to draw.
yup.. IDK and tbh.. dgaf.. but.. in what "context" is slavery okay?? this 🐂 💩 about context is funny.. cuz.. usually xtians use this to TRY to explain away atrocities.. inconsistencies.. fallacies and contradictions.. 🤷♀️
Thanks for doing this, Matt. Very interesting results. Looks like the AI is not overly biased for it against the Bible. I've been trying to figure out how credits are charged per AI image request. Is it a standard set rate or request?
I remember reading a computer translation of "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" as "the whiskey here is good but the meat is rotten" I really enjoyed watching this
We were told this when I was in the language school in Monterey in 1988. They translated the phrase from English into Russian, and back to English again.
Sorry if someone already said this, but I would love to see what it does with different translations with the same verses. This is fascinating. Just discovered your channel. New subscriber :) Oooo, I want to see what it does with Jesus flipping the tables in the temple

Reformed Christian here. I definitely wasn’t offended but I absolutely chuckled at the “it’s just too dangerous” line. A++ content as always sir. I appreciate you!
Although I have to ask why, from a Reformed perspective, it could possibly be dangerous to have false images of Christ. The Elect will be saved and will not fall into idolatry regardless, and everyone else will remain idolaters, even if the images were 100% true. Reformed Christians too often, it seems to me, imply that free will matters in comments like this while denying the existence of free will when it comes to salvation. Can you explain why it matters?
@@youknowitstrue3826 I expect you really don’t understand Christianity itself. In what way is Christianity “literally idolatry?” Jesus was God, said He was God, made claims about Himself that only God could make, and proved His claims about Himself by doing what only God can do. So, in what way, exactly, could it be idolatry?
@@robertpreisser3547 Lmao. I can assure you I understand Clownianity far far better that you do, idol worshipper. And no, pagan Jesus isn't a God, didn't claim to be God and God isn't man. And Jesus also said he couldn't do ANYTHING by himself, had no intrinsic power, life or authority, idol worshipper. And if he did (he didn't) he would be a false prophet plain and simple. You don't even have an angle, polytheist.
Very interesting. I wonder how it would have handled the KJV text - not because I think it is better, but because it is more embedded into the culture.
Interesting. Secularly, Jesus is merely a man who is noteworthy in history. Spiritually, Biblically, & culturally, Jesus is the Son of God manifest in human form (incarnate). The software must have been pre-qued with this information. You could test this out by entering the story exactly the same, except instead of just typing, "Jesus", you change it to, "Jesus Martinez". If I am correct, instead of the Biblically correct calming sea, you will see a picture of U.S. Border Patrol Agents arresting, "Jesus Martinez". Should that occur...This would infer that; your software might have been programmed by a, person of the: Judeo-Christian religion, a government entity, a white- supremacist; or possibly, some combination of the three.
@@thinklearndesign7441 No, polytheist, the KJV is filled with errors and interpolations despite several revisions. This is my first video here. Very interesting! I will watch another on this channel for sure. I am curious to know more about the artwork on the wall behind you, I can't see all of it but it looks pretty cool!! Thanks for putting The Bible and AI art together for us. Those are two things I am very fascinated in. I never even thought to look and see if anyone had done this. Great idea!
As an artist, what horrified me is that within 5 years, if not far sooner, ALL illustrations and book/web art will be done by this. There will be no cost incentive for publishers to actually employ illustrators. Most of these images have a generic 19th century quality to them, which is interesting for one or two samples, but becomes monotonous over several iterations. As the Sea of Galilee is just a large lake, the fetch and shore profile will not allow a wave height beyond about 3’ or 1m high, even with sudden Katabatic storms.
I was the Senior Illustrator for Bertlesmann Corporation (Doubleday Book Club and all the book clubs). I spent 15 years there creating painted, drawn and digital art to promote top selling books. It was a great creative challenging job, and it would have never have existed if AI was around then! I've been exploring AI for 3 months now and while it is fascinating, and a little addicting, it seeks to replace to real joy of creating art with your own mind, imagination and skill. It's so much better when you can smell the paint and feel the brush, in your own human hands.
Yes the human mind is always fascinated with their own destruction. But it won't be that fascinatin we're all in a soup line. Doctors lawyers and janitors all standing in the same line because robots took our jobs.😮
This was definitely cool to see after you put all the pictures in a row! The verse came to life! Hope you could do more from different parts of the Bible to see what you come up with, especially the crucifixion!

This is such a beautiful video. I’m a creative arts student, so this was so interesting to watch. And your observations of the verses and artworks were phenomenal.
@JUDGEMENT So, you do, or DON'T know the meaning of the word purview? I hope you didn't pay a lot for that purview, I'm not afraid. Pay purview. Ha! I kill me.
@JUDGEMENT Precisely. So explain how anything about me would be within your extent or range of activity, function, power, or competence. 😀 I think the pay purview was genius.
I found your topic interesting. There were many different levels and topics including Theology, religion, art, human communication, artificial intelligence, basic communication, human development, just to name a few. I think one of the things that we all have to remember about AI (you use the term several times) is it does not think. It processes. It’s so limited to the human condition. Developmentally I think you proved to me at least that AI is at a developmental age of three years old. Basic language, skill, learning, image, processing, connecting dots. I found your use of using replacement words in order to generate an image in your mind that you thought was accurate. I’d like to see it, tested by just using the actual words written in text. Another thing to remember is current AI has all current data and information stored. It has access to everything, whereas basic humans do not.
I found this very cool! I am a professional artist, and I really found this fascinating to see how AI would literally paint the biblical scenes. It definitely had a problem with faces, which I find very interesting.
In other art from MidJourney I noticed the mis forming of hands. Explanation given was that the AI is generating a pic from the millions of data points it gets from scanning the whole interwebs so gets a compilation of hundreds of hand gestures. Might be the same with faces in this case.
That AI trained heavily on the early 19th century Romanticists. That last image was totally AI-integrated from Thomas Cole's The Voyage of Life, both Manhood and Old Age. Really cool stuff. I think AI is just another fancy tool to inspire us.
It’s also helping musicians, psychologists, architects, and just about every other expertise to varying degrees. I love how art is the starting point of this foundation

The final story at the end turned out beautifully! I noticed for the final image you added another beautiful one and am wondering what you typed in to generate it. :)
I think this was amazing and fascinating. Just discovered your channel this morning, and am looking forward to watching more. Who knows what AI is capable of. A bit scary!
I enjoyed this, Matt. This whole AI Art thing is pretty intimidating and frustrating for everyday people like me who make a living creatively. For me, that’s painting custom paintings for clients with watercolor. Many times what the clients are paying for is my interpretation of their photos. So I have mastered the difficult medium of watercolor and hope that Ai “art” doesn’t take my livelihood. It’s not “art”….it’s an image Long time listeners to TMBH…👏👏👏
And literally, Katie. An artist on RUclips named Jazz showed where some of the images AI "stole" had artists signatures halfway covered up. I've also read a news article about that & how does an artist copyright their work.
I think of AI as another medium. Pretty awesome, but not essentially any different than, say, acrylic paints, or photography. Maybe it lets more people delve into creativity--but it can never mean the same thing as your human interpretation. I can understand artists being intimidated, but we all are having to deal with how technology challenges us in our livelihoods.
The AI art generators are not actually creating art from scratch. When you give it a description, it takes several images found on the internet and meshes them together to try to come up with what you are asking.
Art is subjective. You may think it’s not art, someone else might think it is. I’m an artist myself but Ai art is art . That’s my own personal belief however.
I really enjoyed watching, and appreciate you gave thought to the context of the scriptures when inputting your text. I did notice that when you typed, "then Jesus..." you typed "the Jesus...". Maybe the AI was confused because it really wasn't the word "Then". In the picture with the sticks, that you questioned, I couldn't but notice they looked like a cross leaning sideways. Interesting!
I've been messing with AI art for a while now. Depending on how many images it has been trained on, it can know an amazing amount about a particular subject. That being said I tried to generate images of "biblically accurate angels" and all it gave me was people with wings, not the feathered eyeball things.
@@northgeorgiamom8956 See, that's where I'm confused. A lot of people refer to them as angels, and others say they are supernatural or "celestial beings". Like the Seraphim, and Cherubim for instance... Angels or no?
@@johnowens5342 Yes, look up Seraphim or Ophanim. The Seraphim were supposed to be flying around God's throne singing. Then the Ophanim were metallic concentric circles covered in eyeballs and sometimes feathers.
This was fascinating; such a rollercoaster of feelings! The images give some strong “flannel board” vibes. The situational, environmental type pictures certainly help convey the mood - fear, angst, calm, etc.
it'd be interesting to break the sentences in the verse into individual ideas as you would when describing a story-board. (It might help avoid conflicting combinations of actions like Jesus being awakened and Jesus standing up and disciples pleading with him). The A.I. also seems to require framing for each scene in order to retain the context. "12 disciples and Jesus in a boat" for each illustration.
I’ve used MidJourney for 6 weeks. It does not learn in the way you would like. Each prompt is unrelated to previous prompts. Mid Journey’s weakness is that it can create faces and hands that are terrible, so I usually add the words “very detailed facial features.” One thing that has taken me awhile to figure out is the use of Seeds. At the end of a prompt, if you type- -seed (like seed 1 or seed 2,etc, if you like most of the work, you can copy the text with seed, but edit the text any way you want. Except for what you changed, with a seed the rest of the image will be unchanged. To date, there are 50 billion images in these AIs, basically every image, or photo is in that AI. Overall the images you showed do paint a coherent story. I do believe that AI has not learned much about emotion and facial expressions. I think the experiment you did works well. I’ve done a number of Angels on Mid Journey. I think our personal intention leads to good art, great art, or terrible art...depending on what we are striving to attain.
That's very interesting! What would it generate with the book of Enoch? Thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video. Liked and subscribed.
That was fascinating. Telling your thoughts of loud with what you were doing is perfect. You didn't explain too much. Be yourself and don't let anyone make you feel bad about being yourself. You'll never be happy trying to conform. I like your style.
Actually, the only one you can conform to and be truly happy is to Jehovah God's principles. Millions already have and tend of millions more are doing so as we speak. Sure, it means giving up some of your harmful vices but in the end you are benefitting yourself and everyone around you. And it's worth it. Who else can give you everlasting life in a healthy young body where peace is preserved by everyone there?
@@edwardlittle5541 Although I can understand your concern about society not caring about God's ways in the general sense, it seems u misunderstood NiecyPie's comment. Her point had a very limited context. She only meant the criticism of his style of whether he should go into more details or less, was hyper critical & expressed harshly, when there are no set rules for styles in how we describe art. Hopefully I made sense.
Wow this is great for visual learners like myself. I get the over explaining part, but honestly for me personally it helped me in a sense be able to understand a bit better what your intentions were in terms of this experiment and also I’m left wanting to see more like this if at all possible. It’s interesting ❤ 🙏Thank you
The actual artwork is very cool. I like the style of the visuals (except for the monster teeth or unibrow eyes! 😜) and think, properly thought through, it could make for a nice comic book/graphic novel version of the passage. What strikes me though is the fact that, as wonderful as A.I. is, it still needs human input (and very specific input at that) to function properly/to render what we need it to. Doesn't the same goes for us as humans? A parallel could be drawn, methinks, to God's input into our lives and how, if we become detached from Him, our own output is quite lacking whereas when we remain ("abide", if you will) in Him, our "output" is much "better". Are we God's "Art-ificial intelligence"? 😉 Just some thoughts to think about!
AI art across the board seems to have weird issues with eyes, hands (particularly number of fingers), and weird deformities. Sometimes everything goes great, other times you get spider-dog. Lol
You absolutely should do more of this, I found the images generated to be fascinating, and the theological implications pairing them with the scripture strikes home to me(if you understand what I mean)…
AI is the beast and it is creating images. This has nothing to do with God and it is just the beginning. How long before AI is giving executive orders to the world. STAY AWAY from this great wonder. Do not be deceived.
I'm currently working on a passage from Revelation for my mom.. it is so dense that i won't be able to accomplish it without heavy use of Photoshop. I'm glad i stumbled across your channel to find someone on a similar journey
This is my very first introduction to what AI does!! I have been reading about AI, but I really had no idea of what it can create. This was a wonderful, educational experience for anyone is seeing AI art actually in action. Thank you very much for sharing this with us!! I can now see and begin to understand what AI does/can do. Fascinating!! I love it! Wow!!
I typed in "Annuanki inside UFO" and it really shocked me to my core. It looked exactly like what the Mayans depicted in their paintings and murals of their God's. Same with Sumer and Egpyt. It looked like a bearded human inside of a flying fish or flying orb with flames or something trailing behind it.
This is really interesting. I wonder if it generates original images/paintings or does it have a pool of stock images it draws from and provides whichever one it finds?
Anybody else interested in a series like this, but streamed? That way the audience could interact in real time with phrasing for the AI. Definitely understand how that could quickly become tricky for Matt to moderate. Would be interested in a series of this regardless the format!
I would like to see that, I would like to see a video with everything more random and chaotic. For instance, Jesus, Storm, Calmed Sea, Obey, Disciples, Sleep, Boat. Just random words from the passage in random order, and see what it comes up with, something like Paul's Conversion, Jesus Baptism, Ten Plagues, or some simple words like, "Rejoice Evermore, Bread of Life, Glory" each by themsleves see what the AI produces.
You should try all the stuff with mosses. The burning bush, the plagues, separating the Red Sea, receiving the 10 commandments. I feel like all of his life was visually impressive. I’m also curious what it’ll do with Elijah when he was carried into heaven and how they AI will depict that
I felt the images of the sea, clouds, boats and lighting was absolutely beautiful! I am wondering if giving the instructions you included the reference to the Bible with the Book, chapter given for reference. Thank you for the experiment. The reading of the verses, with the images put in that order really did visually tell the story. Beautiful
The 3rd image in the final product is reminiscent of my favorite painting of that scene. I'm blanking on the name of the artist who painted it, but I seem to recall that he painted more than one version of the scene. I guess if you just search images for "Jesus calms the wind and the waves you'll find it.
This was fun! Do Revelation next please??!! And I think some other comments have great input on how to frame your tags better, to give it a better reference point. ♥️🙏🏽
I think a fun experiment would be to do side by side comparisons of famous western art depicting the scene you’re inputting. Those are the art pieces it’s trained on. You could see what liberties it takes
New here. My 19 year old showed me one AI art generator the other morning - on HIS phone although mine was nearby (using mine now which feels quite eerie that this was a suggestion in my feed). Anyway, I’m always planting Jesus seeds on seemingly deaf ears. This video will provide another opportunity. Go figure.
WoW! Those are literally some of the most beautiful paitings I have ever seen, and would not hesitate for a minute to print those and hang them in my house!
I'm impressed thinking this was all generated by a computer with water scenes, waves, people and "hidden light", which was popular centuries ago as "claire obscur". Also the style is reminiscent of the artist Caravaggio whose colors and figures were very crisp and contrasted. It's wonderful.
Lol, yes, I changed the name of my channel a few weeks back. The Ten Minute Bible Hour is now exclusively a daily podcast where we go right through entire books of the Bible one little bit at a time. Sorry about the glasses :)
In an interesting way, these generated photos are almost an amalgamation of _all_ depictions of the scene you entered. It's also why they don't make total sense lol. Since photo AI's just aggregate all photos related to your inputs in the reachable internet (idk how far they go, because processing power) and then pop out an intelligible/readable picture, you end up with very relevant, but bizarrely off depictions. That's why (as you guessed) you have to be so specific with them. They aren't that smart, they need some handholding haha. That's why when you replaced His name you got the steampunk James Bond speedboat picture at 17:50!
Fascinating. You should make videos like this into their own channel. AI art for different Bible stories. I bet it would be very popular. I know I'd subscribe
interesting prayer: I asked chat GPT to write out a faith filled Christian prayer giving thanks to God - it did and it was inspiring , very nicely structured and doctrinally accurate ... after the prayer it did add an exclaimer stating it had no opinion on anything religious and it was basically just responding to my question/prompt. I then chided the AI for spoiling the overall response with its unprompted exclaimer when I hadn't asked for it. The AI apologized and thanked me for the feedback.
That’s because man doesn’t truly follow god, man lies to himself and to others about everything, man is destructive in every aspect of life. AI doesn’t commit sin like man does. 👽✨🌍
@Matt Whitman You are getting more like traditional character "Phoopho" (Auntie) of our subcontinental area. So loving to see them having a chit chat and even more loving to see them articulating their infinite thoughts. Love you brother, as you are.💚
Those pictures were absolutely astounding (except for the obvious ones) But I would have loved seeing an AI art generator replicating the Transfiguration or the Resurrection! If you'd make a part 2 of these art generators at work, it'll be awesome! God bless Matt.
@@surendemel8297 Yes, Genesis 38 8 would be a good pic for all to see. So would Psalm 137 9, a pic that would show all theists how to be happy and blessed.
Just a note: some AI art generators purposely make faces that are distorted to prevent users from making images that look too much like real people particularly celebrities and other public figures.
As an art person, my concern is for professional artists, as you and Destin mentioned, but I'm also fascinated. My other (perhaps bigger) concern is about these websites, apps, programs, etc. selling users' information. HOWEVER, someone could illustrate a novel this way. I'm someone that can imagine a scene vividly but never fully convey that with words so having a tool to help with this is fun. I'm not at all bothered by depictions of Jesus. And the terrible things people could come up with using AI generated images of Jesus are just the evil that's already in their hearts being given a form, so that doesn't bother me, either.
Hate hate this I'm an artist ( not professional). The last thing humans need is a machine to do something that gives them joy pleasure relaxation and self and world knowledge.
I agree the whole point of automation was to give more free time for humans to explore art, music and drama. Now it’s all been taken over by AI. I was a puppeteer but my audience s started dwindling when cgi cartoon movies came out.
All of these images were very beautiful. It's like they encapsulate a core feeling in the text, like how it latched on to the word calm to produce a peaceful and empty boat.
You ought to do the book of Enoch and the story of the watchers and the nephalim. How can I aquire the software your using? Fascinating stuff. I could play with it all day.
I think this level of art is perfectly satisfactory for many commercial applications such as video backgrounds, blog and news articles, essays, explainers. It's not high art and it has some sameness. But if you pay attention to the clip art type stuff that most blogs use, or the stuff that people make on some site like Canva it's better than decent. Most of these images look really good at a distance, much better than a lot of what you find online. I think a paid illustrator should feel threatened and should seek to find a line of work that maybe leverages this way of making illustrations, such as becoming a skilled "operator" of the software, rather than tilting against a windmill in denial and competing against basically robots. This is the next level of automation, kind of like what Adobe Illustrator did to art years ago.
Loved this video. Reading the comments not so much. Haha! I would like to see what it does if you read that whole passage all in one and then generate the picture. Like the whole story all together.
I like using AI art. I'm not one trying to use what the AI generated but I like using it to get inspiration for what to draw. This gives me some ideas. If you want to do more in the future, be sure to add things like what kind of style art like "oil painting" and see what it does. I'm pleasantly surprised most of those were done well and not horribly sacrilegious. Also man, does AI not get hands and feet.
I thought this was pretty impressive. Having been an artist before I know what it takes to conceive art work. From that AI great work all thing considered. Certainly you have to give it the full concept or it won't know where you're coming from.
Pls stop over explaining😕

By the looks of it, AI generated art has a more positive view of the bible than most Americans at this point.
True, good one 😂
I guess that means AI doesn't have morality yet. I mean, no moral being could think killing the 1st born of every family in Egypt is a good thing.

It’s a demonic realm
'so visually stunning at first, then cold and twisted the more you dive in'
Your comment reminds me of the reality of this World.

Was it Dr Ruckman?
I seem to remember something like this.
God could be influencing the AI to get a message across to people. Glad I'm redeemed.
No doubt there is a lot of Christian art (and a lot of classical art is Christian) used to train the models...
Yeah, I was thinking it was tagged "Rembrandt Jesus Calms the storm"
Oiuuuu next time specify the artist to Alex gray stuff
Everything an AI system can do it’s based off what we’ve already done as human beings that goes without saying and is common knowledge within the AI world. It’s welcome to puddle around in the world but it’ll never take over traditional Art.

I understand AI to lack the will of Humanity. Its up to us as to how we handle it.(AI is artifical and does not belong in creation patterns)
Maybe. We'll see.
Wow. Thirty minutes ago I didn't even know a.i. art generators were a thing. But then, a your videos show me a lot of things I never imagined existed.

I would love to see Ezekiel's visit from the flying machine. And the description of the two creatures in Job.
I love this....as a Christian I am absolutely in awe how much this visualizes my own imagery. The first one is "disciples", followers. Not just the twelve. And He had many at first who followed to see His miracles

That actually stitched out really well. The background music you added with the story definitely made a difference to the tone of the pictures too.
I think it is always fascinating to see what the AI comes up with. Sometimes the results are amazing. Sometimes they are a complete mess.
👍Good information.
I would love to see what AI does with the same stories but different translations.
We should hope that the ' logic ' circuits function correctly in all translations !

I don't believe in the AI system what do they know that humans don't already know.?
I'm almost tempted to try itvin my native language Greek and see 😮
What I think is super interesting is that in the first image, the amount of disciples wasn’t specified in the submitted text, so it didn’t render a specific number of disciples.

Jesus had more disciples than 12 for most of his ministry. The 12 were apostles and many others traveled with them.
Bingo, exegesis for the win.
This IS interesting, I think the key takeaway is that, like with so much, AI can copy the superfluous but doesn't understand the reasoning.
Amen! More of us should have kept learning Latin so they can’t continue to lie to us.

Which A.I generator is this one?
In other art from MidJourney I noticed the mis forming of hands. Explanation given was that the AI is generating a pic from the millions of data points it gets from scanning the whole interwebs so gets a compilation of hundreds of hand gestures. Might be the same with faces in this case.

It’s not “art”….it’s an image
Long time listeners to TMBH…👏👏👏
And literally, Katie. An artist on RUclips named Jazz showed where some of the images AI "stole" had artists signatures halfway covered up. I've also read a news article about that & how does an artist copyright their work.
I think of AI as another medium. Pretty awesome, but not essentially any different than, say, acrylic paints, or photography. Maybe it lets more people delve into creativity--but it can never mean the same thing as your human interpretation. I can understand artists being intimidated, but we all are having to deal with how technology challenges us in our livelihoods.
AI is glamourized theft. We are still the slaves for techno-crats. Without humans, there wouldn't be a thing called AI
Possibly because the “feathered eyeball things” aren’t angels? But supernatural creatures!☺️
@@northgeorgiamom8956 See, that's where I'm confused. A lot of people refer to them as angels, and others say they are supernatural or "celestial beings". Like the Seraphim, and Cherubim for instance... Angels or no?
How does one start using AI art? Would love to start.
Feathers???
Matt, I actually was surprised enjoyed the AI interpretation of the text... along with your sound effects.... VERY NICE

Time stamps for the individual art generated. Best pause the video and click one by one

THANK YOUUU
Nice😎
Wow the way you put it all together and read the scripture at the end. Just Beautiful.
That's because the AI have that information/picture from Mayans, Egypt, etc in it's brains.
That's because it pulling the only info published.
I don't know what everybody else's problem is but I'm liking your explaining. Excellent!
Wow! This is my first time to your page. I am totally in awe about the AI 😇art and the Bible...I truely hope you do more!!
Just random words from the passage in random order, and see what it comes up with, something like Paul's Conversion, Jesus Baptism, Ten Plagues, or some simple words like, "Rejoice Evermore, Bread of Life, Glory" each by themsleves see what the AI produces.
good suggestion
I love your over explaining. Don’t change
Beautiful
Have you tried typing in verses from Revelations yet? I think that would be very interesting!
I don’t know a ton about art and I recognized some of those scenes as famous artworks of the scene you’re reading
This was so entertaining and actually quite astounding. I've heard of AI art but have never seen it in use. Thank you!
I feel like it’s the future
The first image, the people aren’t in people shapes, and there’s strange shadows stretching out of some of them. Creepy
Go figure.
That's crazy, impressive and scary all at the same time.
I've been doing this for months now with biblical verses and other ancient symbols. I've gotten some very crazy high quality renders.
Symbols, yes
Very much like Caravaggio
All right, so this is why I can’t find the 10 minute Bible hour! Lol the glasses messed me up. Didn’t realize it was you. Should of read the name?
Lol, yes, I changed the name of my channel a few weeks back. The Ten Minute Bible Hour is now exclusively a daily podcast where we go right through entire books of the Bible one little bit at a time.
Sorry about the glasses :)
@@MattWhitmanTMBH the glasses are great, no apology needed
@@MattWhitmanTMBH we all get old men! Do you have a Patreon page still?
@@MattWhitmanTMBH also sorry for the bad editing.
I LOVED IT! I can't wait to see more! Maybe you can do one of Mother Mary. I want to see what the art generator creates of her image.

interesting
Taming the Breast...
This was really cool to see in action. I've heard about A.I. art, but never seen it used.
@Matt Whitman You are getting more like traditional character "Phoopho" (Auntie) of our subcontinental area. So loving to see them having a chit chat and even more loving to see them articulating their infinite thoughts. Love you brother, as you are.💚
Those pictures were absolutely astounding (except for the obvious ones)
But I would have loved seeing an AI art generator replicating the Transfiguration or the Resurrection!
If you'd make a part 2 of these art generators at work, it'll be awesome!
God bless Matt.
Great suggestion!
@@MattWhitmanTMBH How about taking Genesis and Revelation? Or the parts where describes God's throne
Except for the creepy multiple Jesus one
Not high art? It bloody soon will be....
There will always be a niche for REAL ART!
Illustration #2: I love the seascape, the storm, the waves. It’s so real
Loved this video. Reading the comments not so much. Haha! I would like to see what it does if you read that whole passage all in one and then generate the picture. Like the whole story all together.
I would love to see this also.
