I like the first original Contax T most, but I have got the Minox 35 ML which are a very good and fast Camera to use for street Photography, I also have the Leica Minilux which have the best quality Lens of all compact analog film Cameras.
Awesome presentation. It was so useful to see how these 3 cameras captured the same scenes. You did a lot of work. Thank you. It's as they say, it's not the camera or the lens, it's the photographer.
Thanks so much for your feedback, much appreciated! It was a fun thing to do and indeed, all of them are very capable tools for the job. The biggest difference for me was the way how a body feels in your hands. If you are tactile person like me, then, unfortunately, T2 is unbeatable🥲
@@snakeytales I had a T2 years ago. Sold it and got a T3. I regretted doing that as the T3 was too small and it didn't feel good in my hands. Both of the Zeiss lenses on the T2 and T3 were incredibly sharp, and to my taste, too sharp. Two months ago, I sold the T3 on Ebay for more than I had bought it years ago. I am now back to using an SLR camera, two Pentax LX's, one with an old 70s 35mm f/2 lens, the other with a Leica 50mm f/2 which has been adapted for the Pentax mount. That's all I need. It would be nice to have a pocket camera to carry around, but I see that the Konica and Yashica are way overpriced on Ebay. Cheers.
Haha, similar story! Got T3 “for cheap” let’s say this way, and turned out that lens is too perfect and viewfinder is much smaller than in T2. And with current prices it’s to expensive to have it as an everyday p&s. So I also stick to my Nikon SLR’s and Konica BM.
Thanks! Which one did you choose? Regarding film stocks, actually it’s all depends on the scene and mood. Typically for color it’s Kodak Gold and UltraMax, sometimes Fuji Superia X-Tra 400. For B&W it’s ADOX CHS II and Ilford Delta 400. But again, there plenty of other cool options: ADOX Color Mission, CineStill range, FujiColor and so on and so forth.
Thank you so much for your reply!!@@snakeytales I like the dreamy vibe of the contax t2, but for now will save some more and go for the Konica. Where do you develop and buy film in Amsterdam?
@stellagriep7650 that’s a great choice! You could find it from time to time on marketplaces for around 120-150€. My go to place for development is Key Color and I usually buy film in bulk on www.fotoimpex.com to save on shipping.
Thanks man! Agree, big mini impressed me with price/quality ratio. The only huge problem for me is that I always have to remember to disable flash with this small button😬
Nice photographs! in the small size of the RUclips video they have subtle differences in character, but pixel peeping them reddit (I have not account there but like to peep) I like the Contax most of the time because there is more detail; being the exception with the red flowers and the tree where I think the Big Mini achieved focus correctly.
Hey Albert! It's all depends on how are you comfortable in photography in general because film is not much different than digital in terms of basic logic of exposure/aperture/iso. If you are familiar and comfortable with this and taking into consideration that prices for P&S cameras skyrocketed recently, I would suggest to go for any manual/semi-manual slr from canon/nikon/olympus/etc. as soon as EV meter works properly. But if we are talking about P&S cameras, then I would highly recommend both olympus mji I and II, nikon nikon l35af, nikon af600, ricoh r1 etc. In general, try to find something with max. aperture 2.8 or 3.5.
Glad I found your channel! I have a Konica that I used twice and gave to my daughter. She's 12 and starting in film, so I am just getting her set in composition before we move onto manual settings. Anyway, i have had any issues with it. I bought an Autoboy 3 and it was having that issue of not focusing on my model. I was shooting it for a video that I am going to try and redo. Scanning my second roll right now from that camera to see if it was user error or not? But I haven't seen much out of the T4 and I was a little underwhelmed with your results for their price. Maybe another Konica is the way to go? Then again, I have high hopes for the TC-1 if I can ever get the scratch together for it... Anyhow, sorry for rambling... I just subbed though and going to watch your other vids, Señor Victor! Happy shooting!
Thanks man! I have one more in my pocket but this war in Ukraine makes me very upset so I can’t finish it:( Konica bm is like Olympus mju I - if you can get one for a cheap then it’s a great choice. In the end it just a camera and in with a good light you can barely find the difference between them. Specially for a kid where experience and joy is bigger than specs and advanced features:)
@@snakeytales Yeah man, I feel you… where are you at? (Country) This whole situation is absolute shit. A travesty. I hope you’re safe wherever you’re at. And for sure! She’s having a blast! @@snakeytales Ah! Someone from the Ukraine is selling their Konica BM-302 and I was convinced it was you for a second! This video was so helpful - while I would love the Contax, the Big Mini is more in my price range. Thanks for helping me make a decision!
You are welcome! I’m glad that this video was helpful for you! BM is very capable camera and I love it so much for the close focus capabilities which unlocks a lot of potential for casual portraits like this one instagram.com/p/CjatPS4IND_/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder;) All of them are very capable cameras with a pretty good lenses. Unfortunately there are not many cameras available with capability to disable flash by default. If this doesn’t bother you then big mini is a good bang for the buck. Also keep in mind that T4 doesn’t have exposure compensation capability.
Hi! Which one of these three? But in any case if I don’t use a camera for a long time and there is no film inside, I remove the battery just to be sure that it will not leak accidentally. So no, I haven’t had any issues so far with Big mini and T2, T4 I sold out.
@@whyborn2032 that’s indeed sounds weird:( Maybe flash capacitor drains it or something similar. Worth to make a CLR, hopefully it will be something easy to fix🤞🏻

Such a helpful video!!! I never realised how much better the T2 was. Thank you so much for this!
Better than what? These other two? They all are not great.
This video is extremely informative and well executed. Thank you for taking the time to put this together
