    Most judges don't care how active you are in your kid's life. I pray to have a judge like this if I ever get in trouble (and yes, no matter how good you think you are you're capable of getting put in jail)

    obviously over whelmed and depressed father's plea to jail...he didn't even know the sentence. So many people criticize judges... But here is a case where a judge heard it ALL!

    Heartbreaking. Everything wrong with the US justice system right there, stuck in the system, beaten by it and given up. Some bloody brave comments by the Judge, kudos.

    12 mins into this one and tbh it just feels sad. I mean I rarely feel this way when watching these videos but I just feel sad for the guy. He sounds totally lost and asking for jail time not undertstanding how that will effect his kid or even knowing it was for a year.
    Def some bad life choices made and having a kid at 20 years old.. wonder where his parents were.
    Dunno sounds like he honestly needs some time and guidance to set him on some sort of direction on where to go.

      His parents were there, he lived with his mother until October of 23. As far as the kid, and this is why Judge Simpson wanted more time, he has already been removed from his kid due to pretrial conditions.

      He can’t do them in jail either. When you have a probation system that makes people choose jail over it, and this is not the first time I have seen someone prefer to sit it out, it is time to examine the probation system. He can’t afford it, he will go broke trying to pay the fees, and jump through all the hoops and probably end up in jail anyway. I have known people who got stuck in the probation cycle for years from one dumb mistake.

      @joeg1992 let me say, as someone who unfortunately had relatives go to jail and prison. That's where you can get more drugs, not less. Some of the biggest dope dealers in jail and prison are the guards and kitchen staff. It's brought in by mail, visitors, and lawyers as well. He probably knows that.

    • @kayfurlano1462
      @kayfurlano1462 2 дня назад

      @ , he didn’t realize the jail term was for a year and was backtracking when that was said. He said he wouldn’t do well on probation. That’s because it usually includes more than a few years and drug testing. He also made no sense whatsoever when talking.

    This video shows that, first, our education system is a failing so many people, second, our justice system is failing so many people, lastly, we need more mental health awareness and services.
    His public defender should step up and put into words what the defendant is unable to explain.
    Why would he choose jail over probation?
    Example:
    Jail- one year and done. Time served, nothing more required.
    Probation- various fees charged for administration, drug screens, etc. Need to go to probation office at certain intervals (weekly, monthly, whatever). The time and cost to participate in probation is not free nor cheap. Also, probation might be 2-3 years instead of the one year of jail. Not to mention, corrupt power hungry probation officers that will look for any reason to violate someone. (I’m not saying all or even most are like that, but, definitely some are. Same with police. You know this to be true.)
    Needless to say, a defendant may have a desire to totally comply with conditions of probation and obey all laws, and jail will still be the less impactful option. Sadly.

    Poor parenting is the source of all these young people being irresponsible and entitled! What this country needs to do is have a mandatory "boot camp" requirement. Every 18 year old must attend 2 mos of "boot camp", where they learn to appreciate the value of being an American and be taught to be part of a team and a 1st responder to their local community; be taught to be a good citizen and pass the same test a naturalize citizen must pass. And be held accountable for their choices and suffer the consequences of bad choices.

    • @penname40
      @penname40 11 часов назад

      I agree with the boot camp idea, but should be at least 6 months for Everyone., maybe up to 1 or 2 years, depending on criminal history.And education to pass a citizenship test and mandatory technical school to gain a marketable skill.

    • @ricklichau9176
      @ricklichau9176 7 часов назад

      @@penname40 Well, basic training would only take 2-3 months. Additional training could be available upon request as an option, not mandatory. This is American after all, not a dictatorship, unless Trump gets his way.
