Also, I think it's worth noting that at the beginning of the trailer, he said "it's time we got what we deserved", while at the end, he said "it's time I got what I deserved". So Adam was legitimately fighting for the Faunus for a time, but now he only fights for himself. Interesting development there.
KRWBY Productions i think of when he sved gira and they did not all elvate him to such a point would have turned out differently, toy can see it in the way his facial expression changes.

KRWBY Productions but i think the way he was first hailed caused hin go down that path. Adam did feel anger when he was called a freak but if gira had finished his speech adam could have leaned restraint and tolerence to take such hatred and change before it was too late.
Spiteful radicals clad in Red, knowing a problem and claiming humble origins, but being to prideful to see anything but themselves as the answer.
It’s a pattern artists of late rarely realise. Suppose it helps that a couple of ol’ Monyreak’s motherlands knew it better than most.

To me, its the reason I continued watching the video. Also listening to the people cheer and gasp makes it all the more entertaining.
When you think about it, Sienna is a bit at fault for Adam's downward spiral. She encouraged him.
Basically, it’s like rewarding a person for bad behavior. They will continue until they become a bad person.

Savannah Simpson Not really, he was really close to feeling ashamed when Ghira reprimanded him before Sienna stepped in. When you reward bad behavior, you encourage more of it. Adam was this close to actually turning out way more different if Sienna had kept her mouth shut.

Seems like they may have their mojo back when it comes to the fights. There are still a couple of moments where people are standing still and doing nothing, but there are *far* fewer moments like that now. And the choreography has definitely improved.
KRWBY Productions lets wait for volume 6 to come out first
I remember saying after RTX that they were saying all the right things when it came to the process for Volume 6. I sincerely hope I'm right and that it's noticed by people disillusioned by Volume 4 and 5.
could you perhaps give me the gist on what they were saying about the process of volume 6? I would like to know
everlasting saga they are running ideas and early drafts past other writers at Rooster Teeth and thus ironing out some flaws before they declare the writing finished enough to start the rest of the process.
I think the main reason for a lot of that in Volume 5, ESPECIALLY during the fight at Haven, was they probably allotted more budget towards Raven vs. Cinder to make sure that fight was as epic as possible. But I do think they've heard us loud and clear and this trailer shows that they are going to try and do more quick action like the RWBY of old.

Volume 6 starts with a great short. The movement and the action looks really good. I hope that stays consistent during the Volume. But I am a optimist and hope for the best!

Edit: It's also interesting to see Adam abandon his mask at the end of the character short which could mean many things.
After believing he couldn't lose then getting a face full of karma Adam is either on his way to breaking down mentally or redeeming himself in the future. Either way I love the way his character was written.
He was already on the verge of breaking down mentally during volume 5, his mental state was pretty unstable if you noticed, kinda why he made such a rookie mistake against Blake. We have only seen him be badass while he is calm and collected.
Zack Rose Yup. He's a control freak. When he's in control he's calm and calculating. When he loses that control (i.e, Blake leaving him), he starts to unravel.

Adam doesn't deserve redemption. He's no Raven; he has zero redeeming qualities whatsoever, and I'm certain the writers intended for him to be that way.
He just better get a more satisfying death scene than Cinder.
I've noticed his mental state has seemed to be degrading since he saw Blake at the end of Volume 3.
This is the first time I have had to wait for something for RWBY. I started just after the finale for Vol. 5, and binged the whole show in a week. Watching this is almost eerie, having gone from oblivious to fan so many months ago.
Everything about this short felt clean, bright, and smooth, but the scene with Blake stood out to me the most. Something about the motions of the characters, and even her hair in the wind, really felt high quality.
I’m going to have to watch it a couple more times to soak in all of the combat moves, but the addition of blood really makes me feel like we’re about to hit another dark period in the story; like storm clouds on the horizon.
I’m totally stoked. Really looking forward to Volume 6!

im basically the same, except i started just after 4 was finished.
V4 and V5 nailed the quiet "talking" scenes for sure, but they definitely still needed to figure out what their style for the fight scenes would be after making the switch from Poser Pro to Maya, especially since losing Monty. this trailer, combined with the fight scene between Donut and Doc in the end of season 16 of RvB, has me convinced that they've got it locked down and ready to go.
I recently got a work colleague into the show, like, 2 weeks ago. He also binged the entire show in about 3 days, then he immediately went back and rewatched it all in 1 day. He's been super hyped for everything RWBY related since he started watching, even spending time looking up fan theories and trawling through the wiki for more info, and our work hours have been spent endlessly discussing the show and theorizing things, (whilst my ipod plays the entire soundtrack in the background as we work, of course).
I eagerly await monday morning for when we can discuss this short now.

This short single-handedly made me fall back in love with Adam as a character. The fight scenes were also pretty cool though.

It's a chain whip, used by Chinese Shaolin Monks. One of the most flexible weapons I've seen. And the way the dart on the end can be detached and flung at high velocity is the RWBY-style touch that makes it unique

No, but I have watched a show called Deadliest Warrior, and when they were showcasing the monks, that was one of the weapons they had. They have people who are modern-day masters of the episode's warrior's weapons and fighting styles. I've seen the chain whip in action in real life and it's quite impressive.
Obviously I'm a big fan of the chain whip, so seeing it in this trailer definitely got me excited. Too bad this is likely all we'll get to see of Sienna Khan in action as she's dead now.

I see Adam removing the mask as a way of saying “screw it, I’m doing this for myself”. The reason he put that mask on was for the Faunus and we see him being delusional in vol 5. Now that the White Fang are pretty much out of his grasp and his feud with Blake becoming more personal, he doesn’t need it anymore.
otakugamer16 but why was he stumbling at the end, he didn’t take much damage from the attack, or maybe he was drinking to forget about his botched operation.
Skyrogue19 probably from exhaustion. He didn't take any hard damage except to his ego. But that's gonna make him even MORE deadly now that he's got nothing to lose. Let's just say... Blake's gonna regret letting him live.
Eh, mental trauma? He was just embarrassed in-front of his White Fang peeps. Like I've said now he's lost everything, and that'd certainly fuck your mind up, he's been shown as becoming more unstable as Volume 5 went on, with his goal of capturing Blake. He didn't do that, that will become his goal now, he'll want to make her pay.
Myles and Kerry sure know how to give a good tease. This short did a great job with showing Adam's skill at manipulation, and also his charisma.
Ive noticed that when they're fighting the robots you see "SDC" on the wall. It's the initials for the Shcnee dust company.
Blake chandler heh. That should be fun, seeing Adam going back to wreak havoc after learning Blake has become more friendly towards Weiss (their mortal enemy) which will ratchet up the tension quite nicely. And yes, I hope Weiss old racism will flare up if that's the case. The writer in me demands it!
I hate Adam, but I like his character. Basically a love/hate relationship lol

This definitely redeems a few things that happened in season 5, AKA killing of Khan before we could see more of her and showing us more of what Adam was capable of. Even with scenes during Season 5, it leaves us with an interesting look at how far he's fallen and how that will affect things in his future.
Don't get me wrong, I was SO in love with Sienna. But the way she justified what Adam did and made the others praised it, she got what's comin' to her.

TheNameisLiam eh we'll have to see. I think Sun dying is pretty predictable. Ilia a bit more likely, but it'd take serious balls to kill Blake off. Then Sun would end up inheriting her legacy w/Ilia as his right hand woman. All I'm saying is anything can and will happen. Not everyone's gonna make it to the end.

Out of the 4 girls, it feels like Blake may be the one to fall first given the target on her back w/Adam and heading to Atlas with the most concentrated hatred of Faunus. Not everyone's guaranteed to make all the way to the end. This is war. Ppl die. I could be wrong. RT tend to throw curves @ us.
Fantastic short. I was a little worried when we got Blake appear; thought they might make it about her more than Adam. He really needs to re-embrace this viciousness in Volume 6. Could see a lot of blood on his hands by the end of the volume.

No, M&K said it few times that RWBY won't get into excessive gore or violence or anything R related. Pools of blood and such are still there but that's gonna stay pretty much the same.

So I have 3 theories for this some are a bit of a leap more than the others
1. Adam has Silver eyes
2. He just has regular Bright Red eyes
3. He has a jacked up face under the mask
So someone I know made bit of a leap and said he's blind I don't believe that but possibly extended upon saying he was blind in one eye from a fight

Ehh, I'd go with 2 and 3. If his eyes did glow that bright, then he has the same side effect as Yang each time he uses his Semblance.

I think he just used the mask as a symbol, honestly... even seem to leave it behind when fled and abandoned his group. It does seem that his semblance do give him a red glow when activated though.

I love watching RTX reactions, hearing the hype of everyone else and you all watching it blind not knowing it was an 'Adam' short either. I loved the reaction to Adam not wearing his mask at the start & again at the end, Miles & Kerry are such teases hehe. Also everyone's shock at the blood & Adam's violence too. This short shows how Adam changed over time, like Blake said he went from justice to passion to spite. The hype for Volume 6 is so real! I can't wait to watch yours & everyone's reactions :)
Nerds Of Aus that's what I thought, his mental state is breaking, we saw how possessive he was to Blake to him saying to on the WF members he'll make people pay for what they did.

It's interesting seeing how Adam added more and more designs to his outfit as time passed. His mask was originally blank, and his coat initially had only the red rose on the back and the white mark on the front.
Also, it would be very interesting if Adam has silver eyes, since that would be another parallel he has to Ruby, along with the red color and rose motif. I know back in the first volume, it was said that they weren't related, but I never fully bought that. I feel like there has to be SOMETHING that connects the two of them.

Hole Shit....HOLY SHIT..... Adam is one of my favourite Villains and seeing how he worked and hwo he became theviolent character he is today just HYPES me up, and i wonder how he looks like, He is just one of the many characters im hyped for in RWBY Volume 6
(Also who else thought his Relation with Sienna Khan was interesting, and how he just killed her when she didnt side with him was interesting to see he wont stop at anything and he has no remorse in killing those who stand against him)

I want to draw attention to that scene with him and Blake. A LOT of his dialogue is freaking TEXTBOOK abuser. He gaslights her concern about him killing, tactically attacks her insecurities regarding her parents and his inflection when he says he’s “GOT” her implied he regards her as an asset, not a partner or teammate. It’s a very NORMAL kind of evil. From a character perspective that really sold this short for me
Brandon Phillips-Patterson I caught that too. I could feel the emotional abuse he was inflicting. I wanted to knock him out. This was the fear he put in her. I think I hate him more than the main villans. He's so...human.
On top of HOW he said the lines so straight and without emotion. “I just get scared when it feels like you don’t believe in me anymore” sounds like he isn’t really scared but trying to guilt trip Blake. “Thank you, Blake. It’s good to know I’ve still got you” is so stiff and robotic he doesn’t even sound warm or relieved of his previous concern (which wasn’t concerned at all). That interaction was very cold and one-sided.
I needed this hyped video after my mood today XD Damn if this doesn't make me stoked for V6, not just the short but the crowd reaction too, always love when the fandom is buzzing

The fact they teased the mask twice is unbelievable
That single scene during the fight in the forest where Ghira tells Adam that the killing wasn't necessary, the way that after Sienna calls him a hero and the others cheer, Adam looks up with _absolute shock_ at what they're saying. It looks genuinely like that right there might have been the final nail in the coffin for his turning point, besides Blake leaving. If that one conversation had gone differently, if Sienna hadn't spoken up, Adam might have ended up being a completely different person if he listened to _Ghira_ instead of anyone else.

This was so dope to see at the panel, and your reactions pretty much mirror mine. Adam is such an intense and obviously conflicted character during this short, who unfortunately doesn't chose the right direction. Just noticed that his outfit when he dropped his mask is very different from what he was wearing at the end of volume 5, so I think what we're seeing is going to occur somewhere towards the end of V6.

Most cool, my dude! I was blown away by this short, and if its indicative of the action sequences in Vol. 6 then we are in for SEVERAL treats! I loved that even when he was legitimately fighting for the Faunus, you could see traces of the spite, the manipulator beneath it all. The scene with Blake sent up SO MANY red flags of emotional manipulation. The whole thing was expertly crafted.

I always like Adam the minute I saw him in the Black trailer. He still remains one of my favorite characters even though he gets a lot of hate. I just like his design and the way he fights with his sword so I'm glad we got this short. I think Adam started to fight for a just cause but as time went on he started to stray from the path and his sense of justice started to become distorted. I hope we see more of him in the Volume 6 and learn more about his background since I felt like he got the short end of the stick last volume.
The action was pretty noice, with some good shots here and there where things were really fluid. I'm not sure if it matches up with some of the Monty Era stuff but things are definitely on the upswing.
I really hope they do more villain shorts. This short peek into Adam's past and showing his rise in the ranks of the White Fang was awesome

That's some pretty good capture considering where you were, and the sync up was excellent. I appreciate the attention to detail as it really irks me when reaction videos have the audio off-sync and there's either an echo or you just have to hear everything twice.

I think that Adam's eyes will be green. That will be reminiscent of the green-eyed monster thing and will be very fitting for a character like Adam. There's also the phrase "green with envy" and having his eyes being green would add extra symbolism to that. We all know how much RT love their symbolism and multiple layers to design choices.
And this is more of a fun fact than anything, but some believe that those with red hair and green eyes have been touched or impacted by the fae.

What I need to see in the next volume.
We need more of Mistral people. We need to see how life is there, it’s such a great opportunity to let us experience a different setting and way of life.
Adam needs to have a complex but motivating backstory. I wanna see him as a child and him meeting Blake and how he used to be so different.
More focus on ruby a bit. I understand it’s not just about her but last volume definitely pushed her to the side.
Definitely cinder is not dead so can we also learn her backstory since she’s from mistral
Also pyrras home maybe Jaune visiting there, it’ll be so good and heartbreaking
Also need to see Neptune and the other members of SSSN and other students and how they react to their headmaster dead but also need that cute lively fun they used to have in previous volumes

As I've mentioned, RvB was going on a slight hiatus so I could focus on RTX and RWBY content. It'll be back in another week or two. As for this reaction, I mentioned it in the video, but the Adam Character short has been out on the RT site and their YT channel for the past 2 hours now. I just discovered RWBY a little over a month ago -- I knew of its existence before that, but had never watched any of it (nor listened to any of its music) since I've never been very interested in machinima or fight choreography or anything like that. It just never struck me as something I'd enjoy, so I always passed over it in favor of other things.
But last month, I found a copy of RWBY volume 1 on DVD out in the wild for $5, and figured I'd pick it up and see what all the hubbub was about. And while I didn't absolutely LOVE it or anything, I could feel tremendous potential from it, and the remaining DVD sets weren't very expensive online, so I figured, ehh, I might as well buy them so I have something new to pop in and watch after work.
...Well, suffice it to say, I'm COMPLETELY hooked at this point! ;) I've not only binged volumes 1-5, but RE-binged it afterward, and watched all of RWBY Chibi, and listened to all five volumes of the soundtrack so much that each track is basically seared into my brain now. It's not the CG or the fight scenes that get me, but the incredible characters and the mature writing and storytelling -- the fact that this is a show which addresses grief, loss, depression, PTSD, etc., and does so with such aplomb, all while remaining hopeful and positive in its themes, really raises the stakes during fights and keeps the narrative intriguing. Add to that world-building and development that's virtually peerless among American-made cartoons (and even hard to find a match for among Japanese anime!), as well as some of the BEST FREAKING MUSIC I'VE HEARD IN YEARS (how are Jeff and Casey so talented?!), and yeah... I guess I'm not telling you anything you don't already know!
But where I'm going with this is that you, and others like you (Puns of Damage, etc.), are an important part of what makes this show so great as well, I feel. The fanbase for RWBY is... mixed, to say the least. When I first got into the show, I started looking online for information about the world and characters, merchandise, etc., and was frankly rather appalled by the intense negativity, vitriol, and entitlement that came up FIRST in basically every search. I found nothing but people talking about how the series isn't what it used to be (which I agree with, but I feel it's only gotten better!), how it no longer represents Monty's vision (which... I guess I can't say one way or another, but I feel Monty would be very proud of the mature and nuanced show it's become), how the fight scenes have gone downhill (which I actually also disagree with, as I feel they've gotten easier to follow, which is something that's extremely important to me), or how the writers had BETTER make Bumbleby canon next season or they're out (which... I don't see happening, from a narrative perspective, but even beyond that, I think the importance people place on shipping in this show is absolutely absurd).
I was getting discouraged by all the negativity, and became worried that Rooster Teeth might get discouraged as well and either stop producing the show, or alter it to satisfy fans and compromise their vision in the process.
But then, I found your channel.
And I realized that the negativity I encountered was from a small but very vocal minority -- vocal enough to take the top slots on searches, but by no means representative of the Rooster Teeth fan community as a whole. People like you were out there too, not only supporting the show with everything you've got, but vocally and enthusiastically encouraging the people who made it, and even being encouraged BY them in return (which is amazing to see, and speaks volumes as to the kinds of people they are!).
Watching your reaction videos has been incredibly cathartic, and the passion you have for this show really does go a long way toward counteracting the negativity that seems to always orbit around it. It's not a perfect series, of course, but I love it -- "warts and all," as it were -- and it's nice to see others who are so genuinely and thoroughly enjoying it as well. And I know that as long as there exists a fanbase that's as dedicated to it as you are, the creators can take that energy and enthusiasm to heart and keep on producing this show all the way through to the story's conclusion.
And until then, I'll be watching, and I'll continue checking out your reaction videos as well. I may just be a random schmoe on the internet, so my word doesn't mean much, but thanks again for helping to give the RWBY fan community a good name, and for no doubt being a source of inspiration and encouragement to Rooster Teeth.
And if anyone from RT is reading this: thank you for producing what has quickly become one of my favorite American-made shows of all time. It feels weird to get THIS INTO something THIS QUICKLY, and I almost feel a little embarrassed by it... but I've come to accept that if I am to be labeled a fanboy, so be it; I will be a fanboy for RWBY, and I will bear that title with pride. ;)

Okay, I'm not sure what it was, or if I just haven't watched RWBY in a while, so I forget how it looked...
But that hallway scene with the Atlesians soldiers/guards almost felt like I was watching a 2D anime for a bit. Just the way it was shaded, the way it was rendered/lighted... something about it really lended itself to a very different look, and it honestly looked really cool. It could have easily just been the fact that it's more cell-shaded than before too.
I'm not sure what it was, but I liked it.

I know that this is not related to the character short but I wanted to get it out there. we know that the winter maiden has to access the relic of creation. the symbol of atlas is a burning torch probably a nod to Prometheus. the schnee family has a hereditary semblance of creating Summons. here is my question: what if Weiss's mother is the maiden? she has only been referenced a few times and never seen on screen.
Yes, that is true. But think about it. Since they did the "false" Spring maiden switch with Raven, hopefully the writers won't do that twist again. I think it would be interesting to have Weiss's mother as the Winter Maiden because it's another example of an female character with emotional turmoil.

I hope you react to RWBY Chibi next--because MAN, you are missing out! You devoted all your time to reacting to RvB Seasons 8 and 9, and I was just anxious to see your reactions to all of the stuff in Chibi.
I'm worried that you may get spoiled with Chibi's final episodes of Season 2, as well as Season 3 thus far. I sure hope you post a bevy of Chibi reactions soon, because we have about two months before Volume 6 begins. After seeing the fighting in this character short, I really want to see Ruby fight since she's my favorite character.
Hopefully hand to hand, since just one scene where she decks a guy beore going straight back to her weapon really isn't enough to justify all those scenes where they made such a big deal out of her not being able to fight in close quarters.
