Cool! I was going to try that with mine also. A good Idea is to make two small holes in the tires tread opposite each other this way the water will fly out of em when you go through water. Thanks for the plug!
with the doomsday, had to trim off a little bit of the threaded ends on both the rods and plastic ends to ditch the tow out, even after the bend, doesn't really need it, just the visual toe out is like "WHY?!" lol its also EXC gen2
These are BOTH great ideas!! 💡 The tire cutting is especially important if you're in water a lot... One tip there - find a cheep Leather Punch on Evilbay or Amazon. It will make perfect circular holes. Not that it's been a big problem with Tires ripping apart from scissor cutting... 😧 But as they USED to say, "an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure"!! 😉 I got my Leather Punch for $4.00, used.
Great wheel mod! I didn't put the foam back in, with the tape it slowed the air down enough to keep the tires firm. I did this only to the front tires, made the rig climb things so much better!!!!
That's an AWESOME trick with the Solder!!! I can't believe I've never heard of it before. 😧😳 Lead Solder is hard to find in the West... but I'm going to look around. Thanks! What I can see it REALLY needs, is Shocks and Springs that actually WORK! When you put it back on the counter, there was NO give in the suspension whatsoever. If you dropped it from higher, it might have bounced right off the table!!! 😖 That's bad. A Crawler without a SOFT Suspension becomes nothing more than a really slow Basher!! Losi has a good reputation for Shocks, and the ones off of their 1/18th Scale Crawlers should be about a direct fit. 😉
I've got them worn in good now not bad after you use them for a bit the reason ecx went with a stiffer shock this time was the gen one temper had a really bad torque twist problem and you had to really stiffen it up to keep all wheel on ground I agree soft shocks are a huge factor when crawling thanks for watching so many videos and commenting I really appreciate your time👍😁
I'm enjoying watching!! 👍👍 ECX won't be a major player with that philosophy.... I've been in the Hobby since the early 80's!! 😳 (yeah, I'm Old) Wraith and Ascender had TERRIBLE Torque Twist. They fixed it with realised Links and better Geometry. Wraith (2.2 Now!), actually has SOFTER Springs!!! 😳😉
Just bought the Ecx temper gen 2 today. First upgrade will be a battery charger! Looking at the Dynamite Prophet sport nimh charger. I'll go to the hobby shop tomorrow if roads are decent, snowing tonight.
Thats a great little crawler allot of fun the dynamite is a good charger mines 7 years old still works great hope the roads are good thanks for watching👍👍
for rim wrapping, 2 mm solder is lots easier to wrap evenly and several layers, but oh heck yeah!! does good things for WPL's or anything else. edit: yeah I don't do video's, thanks for showing it.
yup, lots tougher to wrangle but definitely works. the small stuff you can nudge around with a flat screwdriver for nice rows, step up for 2nd or 3rd wrap.... also easier to lock the start point with a little CA and just pull tight around as you're wrapping. for sure balancing isn't much an issue for crawlers, I mark my start point so I can end on a full wrap... close enuf! got a lap full of MN-D90 just bound the tx/rx and tucking everything into the body.... typical yuck for lack of space with WPL and similar.
yup, was doing the oil shocks earlier here, had to drill holes in rails right behind the trays high as possible, they're laid back kinda steep but suspension nice and soft. just carved away the rear part of the servo trap for the receiver to flip upside down, brushed ESC just ahead of it, battery connector and power switch are under the hood... edit: whelp, stock 180 motor not very powerful in it, but fair walking pace anyway and CUTE!
Good information, this RC is really tempting to buy. I already have 1/10th scale crawlers, but this just looks to cool and fun not to have. Would you ever consider star cutting the tire foams?
I have not heard of star cutting but if it helps I would this is a fun little crawler for sure I have used it allot I have 1/10 crawler s to but this little spider is fun 👍😀✌
This is only one video on this process. It's an old trick people used early in the crawling days. But it might work pretty good on this scale of a crawler.
I think it would be like the gen1 you would need another servo and servo mount and i used a digital servo reverse y harness so i could use the stock radio hope that helps 😁
Cool video!!! I'm in the process of building a ramp like yours and was curious as to the dimensions, particularly the height of it, when lain down in correct position. Thanx, keep the great videos coming!!!
@@AdventureTimeRC Thank you. The measurement I was looking for is from the ground, up to the upper lip, it appears to be around 1ft but it's hard to tell on video. Again, Thanx for the great videos and information, keep on rockin them out👍👍
Hey brotha I had a quick question my uncle passed away and I ended up getting his R/C and slot car collection but he had a temper 2 ECX and I'm having the same problem with the stock receiver/speed controller it's not enough power coming from the stock battery the car came with when Im steering the wheels the LED lights cut out I also lose power and the car dies super fast what do you recommend I do? buy a new speed controller and battery?
@@AdventureTimeRC ok thanks, yeah I hooked up a 2000mah 7.2v NiMH hexfly battery from out of one of the other crawlers he left me and it works perfectly but obviously doesn't fit because of the size of the temper gen 2 what battery do you recommend I upgrade too that will fit in the temper gen 2?
3:06 Enough to do 6 tires, so enough to take car of 3 of your crawlers? So your only doing the front tires with that math. So why are you only doing the front and not the rear also? Nothing is going to get the weight lower then weighted wheels. Most guys I know weight all four.
Yeah i only weight the front tires thats all i have ever done the back always seems fine but i needed weight on the front for climbing steep inclines all the people i wheel wirh only do the front. Thanks for watching👍👍

These things climb so good I put my foam back but put extra vents in the tires 🤘🏻✌🏻👍🏻😎
Pretty good cheep mods and awesome tips! Love that car and its details! Love the video like always!
Thanks man😁😁🚙

I bought similar wheel weights at O'Reillys auto parts. They are.25 oz each. I put them on all my crawler's.

I just went for the heavyweight stuff lol

I just got oil shocks for mn d90 it is a tight fit for good electronic s in the terr for sure

Great stuff as always good tips Thank you my Friend
Full watch and Like 👊👊✈️
Thanks my friend
My son had a tire break off. Can you show me how to fix it? The piece the tire screws on broke.
Thank you for watching unfortunately i no longer own this truck
Wonderful video. Would you be able to show us Temper Gen 2 conversion to 4WD Steering? Thanks.
I did the 4wheel stearing on the gen1 and i ended up taking back off it was cool but made it roll over to easy thanks for watching my friend👍😁
Thanks for your reply. Would it be difficult to setup 4wd on Gen2. I was looking to do that but don’t know what it involves and the possible cost.
I think it would be like the gen1 you would need another servo and servo mount and i used a digital servo reverse y harness so i could use the stock radio hope that helps 😁

The big ramp is just under 3ft tall and about 4ft long if that helps my friend home made ramps are the best thanks for watching

Will do my friend the small blue ramp is about 8inchs tall
@@AdventureTimeRC Cool, Thanx for the info and a BIG THANX for replying to my questions so quickly👍👍
So you just weight the front tires? Would it be good to do the rear as well?
That depends on you're preference most of my trucks i do all four but this one worked really good with just the front
Awesome dude some excellent tips!
Wow is a really cool wheel lead work
Thanks needed more weight on front tires was spining allot when climbing steep inclinations👍💣🚙
lol YW :)
I thought about doing the solder mod to my trx sport but i need beadlock rims anyway so i will get metal rims soon

A lipo battery will fix it if you want to change the esc you will have to change the receiver and radio to because they are a combo unit

Losi mini crawler 1/18 threaded shocks are direct fit
Nice 👍👍🚙
There much better than stock
If you want more flex turn the middle inner links inward
Nice tip😁
It's the way they should be inwards
The temper gen 1 had to much flex and torque roll was a big complaint so they probably didn't take any chance of the on the gen2
Gen one had no stance and all ways rolled
@@neilhamilton2621 what links are you referring to as the middle links?
Great
Are those 1.9 tires?
I think there a little bit smaller than the 1.9 sweet profile pic bubbles is the man boys
I think these tryes are good and grippy
Yeah, they try to be grippy
u should have left the foam out
