I used to get together with a friend when I worked downstate and watch WGN; we'd lose it over Len O'Connor commentaries. But this brings back a lot of television memories. Thanks for posting
WGN News must’ve been lower-budget in ‘79, using film cameras for their local reports at a time when most TV news had switched to portable videotape units.
Len O"Connor,a man you did not want to examine your actions. His commentary is legendary, either here or on WMAQ. I was 23 then and working,so this was not a program I would often see. Definitely back in the days where political slant was not evident in the news.
I was sad to here that Elizabeth bracket passed away in a bicycle mishap. June 17 2018, she was a great Reporter that I enjoyed watching her when I was a kid, she just reported the news objectively, no propaganda., no agenda., she gave you the news straight. she will be missed greatly.
The story about the girls actually was in the news again a few weeks ago. www.nbcchicago.com/investigations/44-years-after-2-teens-killed-in-morton-grove-a-renewed-push-to-solve-the-cold-case/3221646/ It's still a terrible tragedy that the families still don't have justice or answers as to what happened.

You're very welcome.
I always loved that night beat opening intro
I wonder if the murder of those 2 teen girls in Morton Grove, IL was ever solved.
That Cubs game took place on September 6th
Thanks for catching that. I've updated the dates on the description and the thumbnail; much appreciated.
