Thanks for the detailed review! Especially the sizing comparison with other Altra shoes. I have a pair of Lone Peak and the comparison gives me a good referene point.
@@matjobin😮 oh!! I've never noticed it on any other shoe, but I just discovered Altras. I mostly used Nike before. Had to switch due to tight Nike toe box causing me pain
@@laura198816 I don’t know of any others with that type of heel cup fabric. I hear ya! I’ve been wearing Altra’s for several years now and can’t go back to anything else. Enjoy!
Hi, great video! Wondering how these compare to the new Olympus 6 and the wide Lone peak base models. I own the Olympus 5's and the 6's and they're pm my go to shoe, even to wear indoors and around the city. However, the lone peaks lugs are too thick to wear around the city and let alone indoors.
@@Chupabrah Very different compared to the Olympus and Lone Peak. Aside from the different fit and lower stack height, the lugs are soft and more aggressive. So they’ll feel similar in a way to the LP and wear out faster as an everyday shoe. If looking for an everyday shoe or for pavement, you might want to check out the Escalante. I have a pair that I wear when I’m not on trail for cross-training, gym, everyday. It has a similar fit to the Lone Peak and Olympus, and also a stack height that is very close to the Lone Peak.
Commenting while listening to the video, just not a fan of that weight for the drop. This is a good "strengthening" shoe, but I guess positively, can say you can increase the "strengthening" idea by having a heavier shoe :D But overall, thanks for the review
@@davidc6775 I actually just got my NU20 classic in the mail recently. Some nice updates and pretty similar to the old NU25 (which is one of my favorite headlamps). I might have something in store. Stay tuned 😉.
Great review. I wasn’t aware of this shoe. I’ve since fully transitioned to only minimalist shoes and want that ground feel and flexibility in the sole. My top concern is good tread, esp on slippery rocks. But good to know this shoe is available if i ever need or want more cushion. How is the treat on slippery rocks? Seems like it would be the same as for the Lone PEaks - which isn’t great. But if find myself stuck in a town with limited options, and need a shoe, this looks like a good option.
@@RC-qf3mp Thanks! It has been on hiatus for a couple of years and was released again just recently. The Vibram traction is greater with these than what’s on the Lone Peak.
mud pad. not for general use. gimmicky tbf, albeit heavy design details making it feel like some sort of ltd lux run which had always been the kind of quality lvl altra put on for all its models if it is to have all that bloated models, vs just one model to rule all terrain. also ironman/tria/sparta all that bs are gimmicky too. however it took me nearly a decade to realize i can use the lp on fr biking. only those who know will know and even then it will be a super fraction. pure marketing choice that vf put bikers to the backburner. in the 00s when you talk bikers, it is going to be xc and fr folks. and when you talk the coolkid outdoor, it is going to be bikers.
@@JasonHikes1 It depends, but I always expect between 300-500 miles for a pair of trail runners. Typically I’ve been getting 500+ miles out each pair of my Altras over the last several years.
Just a heads up for people looking to buy... Theyre a fantastic shoe, but I've owned three pairs, and the first two began failing where the midsole joins to the upper around the outer ball of the foot. I put shoe glue along the entire midsole/fabric seam on the fresh pair and haven't had an issue with them, I'd suggest you do the same, as it seems to be a common issue.
But that's the exact same shoe no changes made that's why it's still King MT 2 They might launch MT 3 next year after seeing the response & feedback I guess!
@@slavasss2189 It would seem that way and I totally get it. This shoe is the same as the King MT2 from a few years ago though. No changes, just re-released. So I can see why it was kept as the King MT2. Maybe a 3 will be released in the future?
Been waiting for King Mtns since they discontinued 'em. Pumped to see these back!
Same Here ❤

It seems like the new Kings have an almost velcro texture to the heel cup to keep your foot securely locked into the shoe, I like it
@@laura198816 The shark skin! It reminds me of the skins made for alpine skis. I like it too and how secure everything feels.

Did you see the new nitecore nu 20 classic they just released? Seems like the old nu25 with some updates. The people need a review!
