    I bought my used WR250R with all the usual mods already done, including 13/49 gearing… way too low for town traffic use IMO, first gear becomes redundant !
    I then changed to 13/45, I thought that might have been the Goldilocks size, but I still found that too low, returned to stock 13/43 a couple of days ago and I like it best, still pulls away plenty zippy. Don’t forget these little guys love to be revved !

    Ive got a 20 wr with a few mods and also gps adjusted speed healer. I’m 13/48. 70 mph is about all I feel comfortable cruising at. Very comfortable at 60-65 though.

      Nice! What other mods? With corrected speedometer (using Speedo DRD), I'm cruising at about 55 mph... anymore and I feel bad for pushing the RPMs high.
      Contemplating a set of street wheels, tires, and gearing...

    Just a Top Gear Top Tip, the WR250R and WR250F are COMPLETLY different bikes. They share no components with each other.

      That's not true. They have the same oil filler cap.

    I’m going opposite direction I think I want to see if I can get 100 mph on it.
    Or a Ton like the old British dudes.
    Kinda neat for a 250 I think.

    I have 13/49 on mine as well, never rode stock but I love the 49 rear. Still cruises on highway just fine at 55.

      @@KevDoesStuff 85 is about the stock top speed so 87 after a 49 tooth mod which decreases top speed doesn’t sound quite right.

    You can change your own rubber. Quality aftermarket front sprockets(like your rear) are fine. Nice vid!

  • @KevDoesStuff
    @KevDoesStuff 4 года назад +3

    Be careful with aftermarket front sprockets, CycleCruza used an aftermarket front and stripped his splines out and he had to get the cases spilt.

      Not sure if was install error or what, just a headsup.

      The new sprockets CycleCruza used after he repaired that problem were the same brand used in this video. Supersprox

    Hey its the dude from the taco camper channel! I bought this bike after watching some of your videos! Have you stuck with the same gearing and tires. I need to replace mine on the new (2008) WR250R.

    I might have missed it, what length of chain did you go with? In the vid it looks like your chain tension adjustment is pretty far out like your not going to have room to tighten the chain as it stretches out. Im about to do this mod, gonna go 13/49 and i think i need a 110 chain.

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  3 года назад +1

      110 sounds about right. I had to shorten the 120 link chain by about 10 links or so.

    I have this on my WR as well. Soooo much better offroad. With the stock gearing 1st is still too twitchy offroad but 2nd gear puts the motor too low in the rev range and it fuckin HATES lugging. Yeah it's doing 8000rpm at 65 but....oh well.

    Can you tell me what is the chain size links ?

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  Год назад

      The stock chain used is a 520 x 108. If you install a larger rear sprocket, it will be a few links longer.
