When you said, bite and he said, No no. Just scratched. I almost lost it. That was CLEARLY a bite. It takes a lot of experience to handle yourself the way you did. A Vet. would never do what you did without a muzzle. Your a ROCKSTAR, Doug!!!!

I tend to agree with the owner. With birds and dogs, there is what some call bite but is not and then there's a BITE when the jaw clamps down. The owner's arm was all scratched. I used to roughhouse with our dog when I was a teenager and my arm got like that too. I've also been bitten by dogs. Really bitten. Three times. When I was in primary school, 8, or so, then when I was 11 or so - still have a small scar - and a few years ago, by a Staffordshire.
Noticed by contrast when the owner asked "are you alright?"
But... the problem with the first kind is that a tooth can land in the wrong spot (tendon or vessel?) and that can be painful.

I can't believe he really said "no no she doesn't bite" after she literally just bit you. Apparently his definition of "bite" differs from the rest of the world. I'm sure if he presented that behavior to other animal professionals, most if not all would turn him away. You're a very special person.

Aww Lychee .. You can tell how sore her spot is. I wish he could have held her more so she could have had more adjustments, but it's not always easy when they fight against it to protect themselves. Hopefully Lychee can take it easy and rest and heal up her hip/leg. It is hard to hold them back when they want to run and have fun, but whatever it takes to get better for the long run. Get well soon Lychee.

Good heavens, you are way more patient with people than I would be. If some dog lunged at me while I was trying to work on it, and the guy argued with me about getting bit, I would be so angry. I have no tolerance for pet owners who allow this kind of behavior. Yes, I know animals will respond aggressively when they are threatened, but I expect an owner to do much more than shush his dog and pet her and reinforce that bad behavior. If that was my dog, the leash would be on, possibly wrapped around her muzzle, and she would be properly restrained. That guy allowed his dog to get multiple bites and close calls in. If you want me to work on your animal, you damn well better protect me. Allowing his dog to behave that way and acting like it was nothing was so disrespectful. I have no tolerance for that.

    • @lgrinaker
      @lgrinaker 8 месяцев назад +2

Although, of course, no one wants to see any bites that could hurt the doctor, this comment seems very harsh.
The dog’s person seems like a good and caring man to me. I imagine he hasn’t experienced her biting others before. But then, he likely has not taken her to a chiropractor - reaching into really tender areas of his dog - before.
And he was clearly trying to do his best.
Yeah, he initially denied the bite. But after that initial denial, he didn’t do so again. Instead, he apologized and continued to try to help prevent it from happening.
The doctor will have a better idea - far more experience with what a session entails for an animal - of how best to help the situation.
For example, he talked near the end of the recording of potentially using a muzzle.
(I’m guessing that he might have done so in this case if he had it to do over again. 😊 I say that because I’ve seen him use a muzzle in another episode - with a Pomeranian, I think? 😊👍)
But I also really appreciate the doc wanting to help regardless, and the patience and compassion he clearly maintained with both dog and human here. 👏❤️

I hope the guy uses a real dog collar or harness in addition to the choke collar which can strangle the dog. Choke collars also can lead to tracheal collapse. I know we only saw a small portion, so hopefully the owner is aware and uses proper collars. Wishing Lychee a speedy recovery.

Dr Willen, you explained and demonstrated everything so perfectly 👌, your speech was so clear. Lychee didn’t mean to bite you,, she has a a really bad tender spot but we can’t have anything happen to the magic hands of our great 👍chiropractor. Being on the leash for some time will get that part to heal quicker cause without a leash, she’s all over the place and is very fast. I think this was the first dog that was giving you a hard time when you wanted to do more for her cause she’s in pain, the owner should’ve used the muzzle. Ruby was the greatest patient, she-loved you as so did you, hope Lychee feels better soon. Thank you 🙏for everything and have a nice week doc

In the 8 years I work for him my veterinarian never got that and he showed me the proper way to hold. The owners don't understand if the dog is in pain it will protect that area.

I would suggest trying a plastic plate with peanut butter (liver pâté for nut allergy owners) spread ALL over it, try to have the dog come in hungry. Owner can hold at any level while you work...even putting a cone on while letting dog have peanut butter...

I see in the end , Coconut want to hold
her Owner to , for he cant bit Doc ;-))

It really bothers me when dog owners insist that their dog doesn’t bite. EVERY dog bites.

This is NOT a mean dog. Shes in pain. Dogs cant verbally tell you that what your doing hurts. Snapping like that is a correction. "I dont like that,it hurts, STOP!"

Can't help but feel this could've been a lot easier if Lychee's energy had been drained more before the visit. She was amped and out of control

Seems like Lychee was "reflecting " the owners pain there at the end of session! Or mirroring " his " painfull area. 🤗
    Edit x me.
