  • IN this video I demonstrate how to use data from a study to calculate an individual patients risk of the study outcome. This is important to know how to do because the patients you see in the office or in the hospital are often sicker or healthier than those enrolled in studies.

    Hi Professor,
How can I explain the results of an epidemiological study are likely to be affected by chance variation or not?
    Thank you,
    Thom

Thanks! How do we choose the risk score? Based on the included patient´s disease, i guess. For example, what is the best option if im evaluating death risk in CKD patients??

Aldo Costa I use various clinical prediction rules depending on the disease. I use an app called Calculate by QxMD. It has a lot of prediction rules based on organ system. Some people like MedCalc. UpToDate and Dynamed also have a collection of clinical prediction rules.
