    Good honest review as always! The ability to provide live food for fish is worth a thumbs up for jbl in itself! You'll have the healthiest and most vibrant fish you've ever had!

      Thanks for watching! Yeah it's definitely worth the effort to hatch and feed live food even just for the natural behaviours it brings is worth it on it's own! 👍

    Very cool. You got a ton of brine shrimp from it too! The little cory fry are so cute.

      You do indeed....ALOT! Haha. Yeah I need to post some more pics of the fry. All the albino ones escaped the hatchery as the think went below the surface of the water without noticing haha. I have loads in my other aquariums though so I'll try get some pictures/videos.

      @@amandah2866 Yeah I should think so, it's a heavily planted aquarium so plenty of places to hide and be safe. My other fry in my Natural Style aquarium never even went into a breeder box and there is loads of them.

      @@MrBrightfryed That's good to know. I've told my fish there is to be no cannibalism in this house lol. But I don't think I've ever bred any fish in my community tank, the nitrates are too high due to my tap water.

    I started with the Hobby hatchery, which didn't give me enough brine shrimp, good if only feeding 1 tank, so I got the Ziss ZH -2000 as it's 2ltr which I found to be the biggest available in UK an feeds all my tanks price cost £40 but worth it when your feeding multiple tanks

    • @MrBrightfryed
      @MrBrightfryed  3 года назад

      That's really interesting, I've found the unit once hatched will feed 8 of my aquariums easily and still have a little left over. They are more nano tanks but still pretty decent I thought.

    Great review! Would it be possible to set this up inside a tank so that it gets a constant temperature?

    • @MrBrightfryed
      @MrBrightfryed  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. I can't see why not, I've thought the same but just never got round to trying it out. I think flow is the most important think so as long as the tank has that then yeah should work. Of course its a larger tank/volume of water to have to change everytime you want to hatch brine which is why they are done in small containers like this one.

      @@MrBrightfryed oh no I meant to put the JBL hatchery in a container with water and a heater so it gets a constant temperature. I just did this but I'm a little confused as I had brine shrimp the the sieve part AND in the water below in the cup. So the shrimp is supposed to not go through the sieve? I'm lost 😂

    Good video. If you keep a light on the bottom of the hatchery like a torch the baby brine swim towards it.

      Thanks mate. Yeah I dont some research and heard that was a good tip for encouraging the shrimp to swim down. Also heard marine salt has alot of decent benefits as opposed to the stuff you normally use due to the minerals in the salt. 😁👍

    Hi!
    First time on your youtube channel. Great content.
    This product is in my opinion not ready for market. I had four in series (you know, when you connect from the top mounted outlet) in my fish room. They all broke down on me. The valve is the week part of the chain. You mention a few things but there is more. The dimension on the outlet is too small. Salt & egg clutter it and as time goes by the valve gets harder and harder to close and finally it snaps. I have ordered two Ziss Brine shrimp blenders and will do a video. Unfortunately I don’t know if I have the self confidence to make the video in English but time will tell. 👍🏻

    Lovely video, to reduce excess, add fewer eggs.

    Hey! Quick question, is it easy to separate the hatched eggs from the brine shrimp with this set?

    • @MrBrightfryed
      @MrBrightfryed  3 года назад +1

      Hey, yes as the eggs hatch the shells float to the top, in my experience using it for a while now the best way to separate is by using a torch (I use my phone) and point it to the bottom of the hatchery as all the live shrimp are drawn to the light. Hope that makes sense.

    So a couple of questions: Do they need to be fed?
    For how long do they live?
    What would be the ideal ratio so you don't end up with too many dead Artemia?
    What is the ideal temperature they need to be kept at?
    I want to start giving my fish live food and this looks like a really good product that I can use. Let me know!
    Thanks!

    • @MrBrightfryed
      @MrBrightfryed  3 года назад +1

      Generally if you are feeding them straight away then there's no need to feed them but you can buy formulated food if you want. Usually without feeding they last a couple of days tops. The brine bottle comes with a measuring spoon. I find that amount feeds about 6 tanks. My advice would be start with a small scoop and go from there. I've found they hatch well the warmer the water, mid 20's (Celsius) would he fine. You don't need to use the salt JBL recommend I've used normal aquarium and even marine salt and both work just as well. I still use the kit today and works well enough for me. Normally just pour the hatched into a shot glass and feed that way now. Last thing is the lid can be a little stiff to open after some use but other than that it's done the job well.

      @@MrBrightfryed Hey I got mine today and there is one more question I wanted to ask: Does this setup need to stay in the light? I don't have that possibility unfortunately due to space limitations.

    • @MrBrightfryed

      Great to hear. Hope you get on well with it. No light isn't necessary I find temperature has the biggest effect. If its cold they tend take alot longer to hatch the warmer the quicker 👍
