Great performance, thank you. as Said earlier you nailed Jaco. I have watched your video many, many, many times trying to get it down myself. I don’t read charts sooo watching, listening and practicing is my thing. If on your next video could please please show more of your plucking hand more this old man would appreciate it very much. If it’s secret I understand. LoL. Thanks again. Sincerely Pops Fitch.
Thanks for the kind words! The bass is nice; I thought it'd make me as good as Jaco, but I was wrong. Maybe false advertising. The rest of my stuff is par, at best. :)
Hmm...A Remark You Made, Blackbird, Palladium...anything! :) But, on the other hand, maybe it would be interesting to hear some non Jaco song with this tone :)
Nice playing, nice bass. Is this the version of the bass with Pau Ferro or Rosewood fingerboard? 12 inch radius fretboard? I'm thinking about buying this bass too. Can you recommend it?
Hey there man, you nailed this!! Do you mind telling me you cavers/audio setup? Are you running audio from a DAW/laptop/studio direct to a camera? I wouldn’t mind trying my hand at some videos myself! Cheers !
Thanks for the kind words! I don't do anything fancy at all. Honestly I haven't really evolved at all from ten years ago when RUclips was brand new! I plug into a BassPOD for most things, then use the stereo output from the POD into my PC (which is Linux). I use Audacity to record the part, then export that as a WAV. I import both the video from my Canon T5i and that WAV into a program called Kdenlive to sync the audio to the video. And that's it. It's a really elementary setup.
@@jmatthews13 ah ok got it!! I was wondering there was setup that allowed people to record live via some kind of setup plugged into the camera via a DAW etc but that sounds pretty self explanatory. I'll check out Kdenlive also! Thanks for the info!
@@thecandyshoppe2666 Well, the camera will take an audio input. It'd work just fine, I just trust my PC more than I trust the camera to process the audio correctly. Also, I'm usually recording over another track so I'd actually need the line into the camera to be the out from the PC, so it'd get messy. Also if I'm having to record multiple parts it wouldn't make much sense anyway -- for instance, I'm about to do a video for Continuum, which requires the bass part to be doubled and then panned to get the chorus effect. Going line-in to the camera wouldn't do me any good! Also FYI, the audio here is "live"... I record the audio while recording the video, then I just go back and sync them up. They weren't recorded at different times or anything like that.
It's actually a polyurethane coating, which isn't quite as hard as epoxy but still really durable. Some people will always worry about eating up the fingerboard with roundwound strings, but after 17 years it's still in great shape. Also, if need be you can just sand it down a bit and apply a new coat of poly!
One cannot be unhappy when listening to this song.
Wow Jaco was good... what a great tune and line. Beautiful playing... Bravo!
Great Jaco Pastorius! Rest in peace, your legacy still goes on...

Man Jason you Nailed it Jaco would be Proud indeed 👍
This is so good! How can the video have any unlikes???
Cause the people are stupids and there a lot of them in this earth
Great job
Excellently played, really enjoyed it!
glad you enjoyed it!
Increible este Jaco , gran trabajo reproduciendolo y poder ver de cerca como se tocaria.
Vamo´a Bajo!
You have no idea how badly I want that bass!
Then you're in luck! There are lots of places where you can purchase this same bass. They are pretty decently priced, too. I think I paid $1100 or so?
Great tone! Great Player!!!
Well that was . . . GREAT!
Great job my friend 👍💪
Sounds outstanding! Great job, great tone!
very impressive!
wonderful tone and technique bro :) you're great!
So good boss
this is awesome playing!
Excellent played!!!!
Amazing!
Sick stuff, you got all the good gear!
Thanks for the kind words!

The rest of my stuff is par, at best. :)
Jason Matthews you CAN be as good as Jaco. You jist need to be on that bass 24/7 like him hahaha
Outstanding !!
Very good, can we see/hear some more covers played on this great Jaco Fender? Best tone ever! :)
Anything in particular?
Hmm...A Remark You Made, Blackbird, Palladium...anything! :) But, on the other hand, maybe it would be interesting to hear some non Jaco song with this tone :)
I think if you play non-Jaco stuff on a Jaco bass... the bass just stops functioning instantly. The bass knows what's being played.
Ahahaha :D You can try, maybe he will let us.
Great job! What, if anything, did you use to nail down Jaco’s tone so precisely?
I didn't use any effects or anything. That's just the bass into a BassPOD. I used the Amp 360 module, 12" speaker, and that's it. Nothing special.
Nice !!! Congrats !!!!
...muito bom, de primeira! Bravo...outra !!!???
You're so talented :-)

looks like pau ferro
Beautiful
Geraldo Torres dude, what the name of your bass?
Excellent.......

simplemente all perfect 😍 jaco tribute bass is a jewell
I thought I could hear dpubling in your smooth bass playing, but you say in the description that you used no effects.
That's correct, no effects.
VERY NICE!!! !!!
Awesome. Is there epoxy on the freatboard?

-Well Done!!)
GREAT!
Like!
Pickups are Fender custom shop 60 ?
Yes sir.
Tocsin cool, you're talented, maybe you need some reverb
Reverb just didn't sound great to me on this tune. Maybe I'll try a different type and try again!
Wow, is not perfect but it good congratulation
Dear God please keep your wrist straight
Let me know what he replies with!
I assume you mean left wrist. I actually keep it remarkably straight, it just looks weird because of the angle.
@@jmatthews13 You noob!
torture
Go on...
