Just scored one of these from a friend for $25. No zinc rot on the frame and the motor works! Tender frame was ruined though, unfortunately. But still, for $25, a working locomotive and no zinc rot on its frame is pretty incredible.
Nice score. I almost bid on this one, but decided to let it go because of the rot and the fact that I have a decent supply of parts myself. It looks like you have a good loco frame, though, since the motor mount tends to break off first. I have one from a special 1957 run MIB. It's still mounted on its original wooden factory display with all paperwork. If you ever need drivers for these, message me.
It would be awesome to have one of these, but the biggest problem is (the prices the tend to go for, first of all) but also just the fact that they are so insanely prone to zinc rot for some reason. Otherwise, they seem like very solid locomotives, like most of Rivarossi's locomotives.
From what I’ve found, if one of the 4-4-2’s have survived until now without zinc rot it’ll be good to go for the rest of its serviceable life. Acquiring one in that state or building one with original parts is the real challenge.
Very nice! The instructions look impressive
Cool! Impressive that you’ve gotten 3 now! Merry Christmas!
Uhhhhhh actually I’ve gotten 5 lol, but most of them are in a parts or repair state

I’m always interested in more parts and locos. Where can I contact you?
Let's try it this way: Nickel Plate 759 (no spaces) at Model Train Forum.

Does this have the same tender as the 0-8-0 switcher?
While the tooling is similar, they are not identical and have many differences between them
@@gopernoperstrains3160 thanks for your answer. Will you try to make a new one using 3D printing?
