    I used to carry around a hand towel but lately no, we mainly use malls aircon to dry ourselves or escape the heat, we jump into one before it's too late and calculating your journey with malls in mind helps lol! Food is the main attraction definitely. Anis mentioned the westernized side of living in Singapore is what made the country appealing, you'll be feeling familiar as a westerner trying to stay here and also Asians who's moving here will feel familiar as well. We're a melting pot of cultures. Also having English as the business language helps a lot too.

    Singaporeans like to get to the point and have the business done. No need to have small talks because the discussion is about business not about friendship. So, Singaporeans need Anis' expertise to do something, he has found a niche. Good for him. Good for Glib to share the common points as foreigners and seeing both enjoying local food and desserts. Glad for both of you staying and working in Singapore.

    There are definitely issues when cycling in Singapore, but I think it's still manageable so long you know the park connectors and take that to your advantage while planning your routes. In some sense, I feel blessed having the paths that we have in SG as compared to Malaysia or Indonesia 😂

    Completely agree with the cycling struggle. Pedestrians don't want you on their path, cars don't want you on the road. Can only hope for the govt to make it safer and more cyclist-friendly, especially since they don't want people to drive

    • @uwet.8826
      @uwet.8826 2 года назад +27

      As a runner, cyclist and driver, I think a lot of cyclists asked for it. When they are on the shared paths, they speed, don't comply with rules, expect pedestrians to give way and forced themselves through small gaps between people. When they are on the roads during peak hours, instead of keeping left they cycle in the middle of the lanes or occupy the entire lane. If cyclists want respect from pedestrians and drivers, then cyclists have to build a culture of respecting others on pavements and roads.

    • @silverchairsg
      @silverchairsg 2 года назад +2

      Wish we had separate bicycle lanes on the road like in China. Those were fenced off from the pavement and the main road, and bicyclists could zoom past without worries. Though I guess this will be impossible to implement in our current urban landscape.

    • @Timholle
      @Timholle 2 года назад +6

      Instead of berating on a system that’s actually accommodating, how about reflecting on the errant, unruly and dangerous behaviors most cyclists do that impact everyone else? There’re good reasons why most people hate cyclists. There’re so many cycling lanes but cyclists just don’t use them properly, instead abusing and endangering others on the roads. And honestly, demand (no. of cyclists) isn’t high too. With our effective public transport system, I really don’t see how cyclists should be prioritized in nation building

      @@silverchairsg we have cycling lanes along Tanah Merah and some parts of Singapore. Guess what, there will be idiots who still choose to cycle on the roads beside these cycling lanes. Because of these idiots, I choose to cycle between 4.30am and 8.30am on weekends so that I don't become collaterals of these cyclists. Even so I still face the hazards of drunk bastards driving back home after their parties.

    Japan will not be Japan if things are the same as France. Likewise in Singapore. Foreigners cannot wish Singapore should be like their own country. Too many difference in different countries for Singapore to please anybody. Better to stick to what works, for Singapore to be Singapore. We can only be Singapore and responsible for ourselves.
    Cycling. No one can work out cycling with traffic in a small city with 6+million. You cannot compare to large space countries like France, etc.
    Now. What you need to compare to will be London. Central London.
    Even London with all its cycling culture hasn't got it right.
    Frequently. You get a lot of road rage between cyclist & car drivers especially cabs. You even get cyclist deaths. From reports, London cyclist using cycle lanes, in intersections have a tendency of not wanting to stop at traffic lights. It was a hassle to the exercise.
    They tend to crash and take risk as they see fit. Especially they think they can be faster than the car.
    With any country. It is silly to expect the country to change to a visitors taste from a foreign country.
    France cannot be France without its wine? England cannot be England without its pub culture.
    So. Chill.

    • @Joe-gf6vn
      @Joe-gf6vn 2 года назад +9

      You're the one who's not 'chill'. Don't know why there are always such sensitive defensive people like you around. Small observation and pointing out a difference between some other countries you have to make it sound like it's an attack and call people silly.

    • @weikwanglee4383
      @weikwanglee4383 2 года назад

      @@Joe-gf6vn ha ha. Why is US not the same as Singapore? Why is Malaysia not the same? Why is UK not the same?
      Why are you no nearer your success in making any country nor people the same.????
      Hence, you are promoting something that you are incapable of? What does this make you?
      For starters. Hypocrite?
      That's why. I said "chill".
      The last thing anyone in their own country wants to hear is a foreigner telling them how to live.
      Obviously, you have not lived in harmony within a foreign country before. As a foreigner, a visitor, if you want to stay, you adapt, not demand.
      That's why this video maker's attempt at PR thinking he can get it quicker than anyone else is unreal. Did he think, with superfiscal contents, he knows Singapore.? I saw his content on London/ Oxford. It was just a 5 minutes tourist effort. It 's not even 50% helpful. It' s down to "let's get lost together".
      Nay. The best way for this video maker to get PR is to get himself qualified to do NS. He is not open to it. Besides, his comments on his previous videos does not make him as someone who wants to settle in Singapore to be part of Singapore.
      That makes him an "economical" applicant. Without his "Singapore" videos, his income via U tube will take a hit.
      That's why I used "chill". As not to dig deeper into things.
      So much for your position without any actions to make your think real.
      Everyone can do that.

      You need to fear such foreigner?
      Joke. I respect the French man. He is cleverer than this Japanese blogger.
      As for this blogger, no fear. He does not know himself at all.
      If you want a PR, you need to show your contribution. Same throughout the world. Also, while women married to a citizen men get kudos in getting PR. Man married to Citizen woman must apply on his own merit.
      This is the same everywhere.
      You need to fear some foreigner who does not even know the basics of what he wants.?
      You need to use xenophobic with better understanding of this context.
      He came to Singapore on a work pass. He married. He resigned from his job to do blogging full time. Doing superfiscal videos on Singapore lining his own pocket. His video content are about the same as many. So. Contributing?
      His temperament broadcast using this platform to try to get PR in a couple of years.?
      With his roots still in Japan, with he trying to change Singapore, is he responsible?
      Nay, he already clearly said in his blog. His idea of getting PR is to get cheaper medical benefits, etc.
      Nothing to settle in Singapore.
      Nay. You must be joking to fear such a person.
      Singapore do not need this kind of resident. Just imagine. At the first sign of trouble, he has the entitlement to get out of Singapore. Where does this leaves all the Singaporeans in Singapore.
