      Hey Lucas, How about doing a vdo on the best HB Les Paul Blues Pickup??? Strats are easy but what's the best Les Paul pickup for blues???

    • @kennyh5083
      @kennyh5083 Год назад

      Lucas PLEASE do another Planet Tone 59 Special & a Blues Heritage demos but this time use a tube or analog amp (Legend) NOT a digital amp! I am comparing pups and will be buying several soon but I cannot trust a demo using a digital amp! I've owned several and still own a few and I've worked in programming as well. PLZ do pup demos using a real amp not a digitized converter programmed sampler which is what a digital amp actually is! In a digital amp the true guitar signal never reaches the speakers, you are only hearing an internally pre-programmed sample and that is all. Study digital amps and you will see what I mean! and if possibly leave out the FX so we can actual pickup as it is not enhanced! Or do they sound that bad by themselves?

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  Год назад +1

      @@kennyh5083 Just to be clear, the AMP1 is not a digital amp. It's all analog circuitry, using military grade nanotube run at a high plate voltage. The AMP1 was designed by Thomas Blug, who designed many legendary circuits, including the Hughes And Kettner Tri-Amp and the Rotosphere.
      I'm not going to go back and do all these demos again, but I will put it this way:
      Planet Tone does not pay me for these videos, the only compensation I receive is the pickups themselves.
      If I didn't think they sounded better than anything else, I would not do all this work making videos about them.
      So to answer your question "do they sound bad by themselves?", no. They sound terrific. I like the sound of some delay and/or reverb behind my guitar all the time, particularly when I am playing by myself.
      Also, if I'm only hearing an "internally pre-programmed" sample when I use something digital, for instance, are you saying all pickups will sound the same? Or all pickups sound "good" even if they sound "bad" through analog stuff?
      By that rationale you're just talking about subjective tonal preferences. I think 70's Silverface twins sound bad no matter what you run into them, because that's my taste.
      But furthermore, and I'm only going on this diatribe because you have left quite a few comments about this:
      Planet Tone pickups are EXTREMELY affordable and Planet Tone is very customer friendly. What better way to see if you like the pickups than just buying a set for around $130? You can even email them and ask about what pickup would be best for your needs and they will be happy to work with you.

    It’s great to finally hear an in depth comparison of these cabs. I’ve been thinking about getting one to try out. I got the Iridium recently and I really like it. I play metal, and I only own 412 cabinets. I think that something more compact and portable will be nice to have on hand. Unfortunately, this demo makes me want all 3! Ha ha. Great video! Cheers!

    Great comparison. Thanks!. I will hopefully get my twincab soon. At the moment I try to dial in the mercury. But I have the iridium to check as well. I’m curious to see what will be to my taste…
    As a jmp1 player should be the mercury. But we’ll see…

    I'm playing 6 nights a week in a clun in dubai with 2 nanocabs and 2 amp 1 in stereo , 2 bluboxes for FOH and in ears monitors
    I love my fatcab back home but these 2 bad boys are doing it for me when i'm doing those club gigs
    Mixed with the FOH sound , people keep telling me the guitar sounds huuuuge and real in the club

    Hi Lucas, You`ve made a great video, congratulations! I am using the Amp 1 in combination with the fat cab and the twin cab. The option to connect all the three cabs is great, so I`m thinking about to buy the nano cab. Can you tell me, how I have to connect the cabs together exactly? That would be a great support. Thanks and greetings from switzerland! Cheers, Markus

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  Год назад +1

      Thank you, it was a lot of work!
      To connect all 3 cabs, you will use the 8ohm output on the AMP1.
      -Run one speaker cable from the 8ohm output to the input of the NANOCAB.
      -Then, run a speaker cable from the *SERIES* output of the NANOCAB to the input of the FATCAB.
      -These two in series produce a load of 16ohms.
      -Then run another speaker cable from the *PARALLEL* output of the NANOCAB to the TWINCAB.
      -The TWINCAB is a 16ohm load, run in parallel with the 16ohm load of the FAT/NANOCABs for a total load of 8ohms.
      I tested this with a multimeter to be sure and it was the correct impedance of approximately 8ohms.

    Good job, Lucas! If I had to pick one I'd go with the Fat Cab though the Twin vertical sounded sounded really good too. Cheers!

    Hi Lucas, My preference goes to the twinCab vertical. Having a 2x12 already fitted with Celestions though, I chose to go the Nanocab route, to be able to carry it along and travel light. It's quite an astonishing sounding cab for its size and handles the Amp1 @ 60 watts very well. Both the cab and the amp fit in an overhead compartment and allow me to fly with avery light rig, without compromising on quality. I add an OD, Boost, Comp, tremolo and Delay in front (no reverb needed, the one included in the Amp1 is great) and I've got all I need for a gig...! Cheers P.S: what did you use to make the respective IR's ? Thanks Lucas !

  •  Год назад +1

    Is it possible to switch the speaker inside the Nanocab? To put a Celestion for instance?

  • @jcugnoni

    Reall good comparison. I think my favorite is the 1x12 fat cab which sounds indeed quite close to a 4x12 in your recordings.

    it isnt a FRFR cab right? what if i used the Blublox or any IR with it? does it add any colour? amazing video man

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  Год назад +1

      No these are standard guitar cabs. I made impulse responses so that you could have something to test at home for yourself, albeit not the same as having a cab in the room. There are several free impulse response loaders you can download, and then load mine in and hear them through headphones or studio monitors.
      They do color your sound, the way a speaker cabinet does. You would not use a Blubox or any IR's with these.

      @@LucasFowler i see. so no point in using a speaker sim like the Blubox with it right. the intendend way is Amp - Nanocab correct?

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  Год назад +2

      @@1973asdf Correct. You can use a Blubox or something similar _in addition_ to the cab, to send a signal to front of house or a recording interface, but that would be a separate output.

    I know in the video you recommended the nano cab for low volume home playing. Would the fat cab also be good for low volume playing, mostly metal.

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  5 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely. The FATCAB is a lot like the sound of a 4x12 but condensed to be relative to a smaller space. In your bedroom for instance, the FATCAB would sound absolutely thunderous even at low volumes.
