  • In this video, I show you how to use APT and PointCraft to get your distant nebula framed to perfection, by using my very first nebula image as an example of how I could have improved my nights imaging.
What you see is what you get is now a reality using this method.

Wow. Thank you. The most precious commodity any of us have is time, and you just saved me loads - not to mention the headaches, frustration etc. More power to you.

Hogarth... Thank you soooooo much!!!, I was looking for this long time ago, now it would be better if we can realign from STELLARIUM (I'm understand N.I.N.A. does) and then send it to APT to frame the GOTO

Great video Hogarth ,only I can't get Stellarium to change cameras or Telescopes automatically from a captured image in APT, have to select them manually in Stellarium find the object ok but wrong field of view most. times. I can't see if i am missing anything , if you set a different camera or telescope in Stellarium does it change when using 'show' in APT ?

Really helpful!! im using a Startracker and a 600mm lens and usually have Stellaruim open on my phone and manually look at the stars and my test shots to work out where i am, this plate solving if it works will be amazing thanks for the effort of making it.

When setting up the plate solving software. Do you put your actual sope focal length in or its length with the flattner/reducer applied?

The guide was great, thank you, it made everything so much easier using plate solving to sync my mount location. I had one issue where apt would not connect to stellarium (error 5) on start up. The solution for me was to change port access settings on my firewall to specially allow access to the port i designated in apt and stellarium. Worked fine after that

This was a great video, But I am finding some odd behaviour between Stellarium and ATP. I have been using Stellarium to go to the object I want. I then take a 20 second picture, blind plate solve and then show. Stellarium would then show I was on the object I was looking for and did not move to the correct location which is what I'm expecting having watched other various videos on this. When I did a longer exposure I knew I wasn't on the object. The only solution I found was to use ATP to go and find the object, blind plate solve and then use the Goto++ this then found my object. It seems if you use Stellarium first to find the object its not quite right?!

Good video. Any idea how do you do it the other way round. Start in Stellarium frame the part of the image you want, the transfer coords to APT?

Hey wondering if you can help me.. I’ve just started using plate solving.. so from the start I unpark hit object, choose my target hit goto. It will go to the target but then when it’s finished it’s not tracking.. I looked in eqmod and the tracking rate says not tracking. I click sidereal and it doesn’t do anything. It happens every now and then.. not all the time. So I have to shut down and try again.. on the 4th go the other night and it was ok.. tracking sidereal in eqmod. 🤷‍♂️ any help.

Great video Hogarth. As I am new to subject I can see the option for 2 or 3 sub videos. eg link to stellarium, basic plate solving alingment. Please also show in daylight mode as night mode is a not easy to see on screen. Cheers.
