Everything changed when the fire nation attacked.
I was not expecting this but I'm glad you did
this is pure gold
+Papyrus the skeleton You are not papyrus! you are earl.
But I believe Ant can change the world.
Bruhhhhhhh😂
ant keepers know how special those first founding stages are and how naturally beautiful it is, shame fire ants aren't native to Australia, I would love to have a colony
9 times out of 10 in the southern US the first queen newbie ant keepers catch is S. invicta, myself included. I always have one colony of them from time to time but I never let them get too large lol, something this species is known for
I don't like killing bugs... But, fire ants are one of the few kinds that I will kill without remorse.
Fire ants and wasps. Both creatures void of remorse!
Ah, innocent child. Take a trip to Australia, sometime. Here, if you don't kill them, they kill you.
Wasps are assholes. Unlike bees, they don't need reason to sting you, they just indiscriminately stab everything, and will do so continuously until you pry them off.
ugh I just hate caterpillars
ugh I just hate indiscriminate killers who kill caterpillars for essentially no reason
Living in South Florida means NEVER walking barefoot..not just because of ants, but the dreaded sand sedge.
when i moved to gulfport miss. in the 1970's there were huge piles of imported bauxite(aluminum ore ) from Jamaica, this may well be where they came from. the piles are now gone but the ants are here
These ants are lit =">
I wish they would be lit...on fire.
But you can pour a molten aluminum to make a cast iron ant colony. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Am I the only one who heard "War, war never changes" when they showed the B&W footage of the ant in the helmet?

nice i got 5 different stings on my back right now from beloved fire ants while i'm sleeping, my favorite insects of All Time

Fire ants: it’s free real estate
one time when i was little i rolled over a fire ant hill while only wearing a bathing suit. needless to say i never did that again
3:00 Why it being call" The Vietnam of entomology"? I from Vietnam and I wonder why it call like that.
Growing up in Florida, I "noticed" fire ants many times, including the time I fell, butt-first, into a nest. I also remember the WW2 vintage bombers flying over and dropping pesticides. Hard to believe we once though that was OK.
are fire ants weak to water type attacks?
their greatest weakness is water pokemans
Dang it I wish I was a water type 😂
If they had wings, they'd be 4 X weak to Rock types.
MARIOPOWERUP oh look an angry bitch
Rock types would be the best (strong against fire and bug)
5:56 that is disturbingly cool

Which is better?
A strong metal vehicle able to carry objects VS boat bois
All i know is these ants are super annoying
South Carolina also has fire ants. I moved to SC in 2016 and 2017 and I saw a huge mound of fire ants. Since March 2018 the ants have invaded the inside of my house (maybe on revenge). I can tell because:
A: they are swarming my family's front porch.
B: I woke up a few weeks ago before mosquitoes wake up covered in ant-mosquito venom bites
This is why I don’t walk around barefoot
I've been stung so many times by these things that I've grown an immunity to their venom.
Ants: 🎵Sweet Home Alabama🎵
When I heard the name Schmidt I was like FNAF!?!
bro ants be lit like woah
Inside the world of spicy bois
Don’t walk barefoot through the grass in the south and southwestern US. If you do find yourself walking across a lawn and you foot suddenly sinks, don’t think, run away as you are likely about to get swarmed by the little buggers.
I feel an ant crawling on my head..
"...or the ants had red in their name..." Lol
Spicy boys
That was very interesting 🧐 Thank you 😊
So, you could describe people's emotions towards fire ants as loathing, unadulterated loathing?

OML, I just saw an ant in the thumbnail and didn’t read the title or who uploaded it. So I thought it was ant Canada :/

pour molten metal down a nest
you get a cool piece of art and get rid of your ants for the price of one
Or how bout the tree ants or should i say anticks
Ayyy
The video title is wrong. Fire ants are from America, it just wasn't in the north zone. That USA problem of referring to itself as America, when they only live on the north side in a part of the entire continent 🙄
The things you do for this show?

I like Coyote Peterson, and I appreciate his love of nature and making it accessible to people all over the world, but his dramatizing of insect stings gets kind of old. It's for the best, since it probably encourages people to stay away from them, but it kills his credibility. Ant and wasp stings can be very painful and the pain can last for hours, but it's not the crippling, torturous agony that he portrays it as.
@@Aeturnalis umm idk, he’s been stung from things like the bullet ant, one of the higher tings on the index. Neither of us can really have an opinion on his reaction because (I’m assuming) neither of us have ever been stung
Y'know, Mr. Fire Ant, a fly isn't really something to lose your head over. Deep breath in, deep breath out.
Ants, like all insects, do not breathe but rather oxygen diffuses into their exoskeletons. This is why you cannot have giant insects--volume increases exponentially while surface area increases linearly, meaning they would suffocate if they got too big.
I think you missed the joke... but being educational makes up for it I guess?
It more than makes up for it, this man just smacked the Ant Man and The Wasp movie in the face with scientific facts.
Ethan McDonald inhale outhale
"But there's a maggot eating my brain!" - Fire Ant
I don't know the flies remained me of a Simpson episode where they keep bring new hunter for the unwanted species and it did not end well...
I think it's the one where Bart nursed a pair of lizard eggs to birth, which ended up taking over the town. I think it was Lisa and someone else in the end who were discussing what to do with introducing predators, and they ended up talking about hypothetically using alligators or something.
This is a good thought! But no reason to worry. The flies have been tested extensively in the lab and phorids are extremely specific to their target species. There is very little chance that they will begin targeting other ant species, and their best hope is to keep fire ants under control anyway, eradication is impossible at this point
Actually, they did figure out a really complicated way for it to end well. Now, sometimes it does not, such as introducing Mongoses to Hawaii to control rats. Turns out that they prefer birds. But hopefully these flys will just eat fir ant heads, which is OK with me.
imagine this stuff happening to humans
sorry little ants
There's just one thing you forgot. A very little chance is more than none. And since I'm affected by whether or not this works, odds are the unluck of the 1/8 Irish will come into play, and those flies will mutate somehow and start laying eggs in EVERYTHING! Then people will bring in chameleons, which will then eat native flies and start overpopulating, and then people will bring in the next on the food chain, and so on until eventually the whole continent is overrun with lions. I know this sounds unlikely, but again, I have the unluck of the 1/8 Irish, and am affected by this.
6:00 WHY, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT oh god i feel them I CAN FEEL THEM ON MY SKIN
It's a demonstration that fire ants are non-Newtonian liquids. Undisturbed, they flow like a regular liquid. But shake them up and they will clump up into solid ant-balls which you can pick up, and then they adopt liquid behavior once again.
+Mr Schrödinger - I am the one who reviews. I'm not sure that's correct
+Mr Schrödinger - I am the one who reviews. that's very interesting are you saying then that one can collect them via this technique in order to move them elsewhere or also would that mean then thst if fire ran thru that area literally that they would survive the ordeal due to there liquid matter of anger if provoked and lastly which I can do but I was reading do they as well have a queen ant like the bee if he stated in video I missed it as I learn many different things daily I will share with you now I solved the NW 🌐 👹 ILLUMINATI MATRIX which is like there plan to infiltrate in this manner and the @Queen_UK is the leader and coorelates to there INVECTUS games and where 🔥🐜 originated from thanks for sharing knowledge and thanks to person who made video
+Tommy Klein well if it's nit provide data links just don't make blanket statement I am going to look on my own to see but I find it interesting until I find out otherwise unlike your comment does not give me reason to think it's not a complimentary add to the video if one wants to view there purpose complimentary to the economy system like a misquotes that have been man made and now are drones that carry ziki virus created by NW 🌐 👹 govt and also the bees the are niw killer because govt force feeds them.corn syrup and ships in bees from other countries to feed only on almond plants in CA and now we have disease bees in america
+Tommy Klein actually, ants are Non-Newtonian liquid. Or atleast a demonstration on how they act like non-Newtonian fluids. Take oobleck for example, let it flow, and it flows, try punching it, it becomes hard. Make these ants feel the motion of waves or water, they act like liquid.

+It's Okay To Be Smart Actually, they are to me. My paternal grandfather met my paternal grandmother met BECAUSE of ye olde fire ant. She was native to Michigan. On vacation in Florida, she had her first encounter with ye olde fire ant. For around 15 minutes, she had this stinging feeling in her foot that she could not shake. Luckily, my grandfather heard the commotion, and sprayed her with a hose. And... well... the rest is history.

NOTICE ME
Wait, why did they skip New Mexico and Arizona on their way to California?
Probably ride-hitching on vehicles of folks moving the eff outta the southern states and barely stopping until they hit California?
It's due to a couple of things: There's less people there, so since they are mainly spread through human commerce (like the plant nursery trade), there's less chance to spread. They are also a tropical species that doesn't do well in extremely dry areas, although cities like Phoenix and Las Vegas pump enough water into people's lawns and gardens that fire ants have also been found in those desert cities.
12 years in Vegas starting in 1999 and they are definitely there. Was all over the news early on.
Because they originate from rainforests and its like a trillion degrees in Arizona and new Mexico, besides they're aren't that many humans as compared to California, and humans are why they spread.
They just haven't decided to break bad yet.
Yeah, a fly that kills ants. . . let's import it and set it loose. . . what could go wrong?
They could attack Pheidole ants (which are important to the environment )
Half_Centaur lol
Did you not even hear what he said? Their niche is SPECIFICALLY ADAPTED to perform on those ants in particular. You are not going to see them attack any other kind.
Unless they adapt for some reason... You're assuming that they won't ever change.

What? Has no one said this really? Immigr-ANTS, anyone?
You: Just breathes on the mound
Fire Ants: It's treason then.
5:22 So wait, in order to combat the dangers of imported non-native species, scientists imported another non-native species?
How can we know for sure what affect such methods will have on the local ecosystem?
What ever happened to the Precautionary principle?
iinRez I think your caution is justified. Have you ever heard about the story of how the Mongoose arrived in Hawaii? They were introduced to combat an existing invasive species, but it didn't work. Like, at all. The Mongooses did far more harm than good. If you're worried about the Ant-Decapitating flies causing the same problem in the southern continental US, I think your instincts know what they're talking about. I'm worried about that failure potential, too.
Well that's one of the only ways to combat the non-natives, other ways could me murdering their unborn young, murdering their queen or leaving native ecosystems alone to do their job.
Just like the Aussie Cane Toad disaster, scientists, scientists, I hate the idiots!

Ants there were a nightmare to most of us because they survived in hot weather, where event a grass couldn't survive. I just recently moved to central Florida. And fire ants were one of the first things I had to learn about. Coming from Kansas, we had fire ants but they were rare. Where we live in Florida, they are the ONLY ant and they cover the ground completely. Its not even an exaggeration, they have dominated the ground over any other insect here.
Walking barefoot outside isnt even an option, and neither is touching anything that has sat outside for longer than a few minutes.
The rate at which these things work is amazing, and annoying. They can build new mounds in minutes with little effort. They are very difficult to control, we have tried many different products geared towards killing fire ants and they always come back within a few weeks in even larger numbers.
