Camille is a great actress. She is so beautiful. Death in Paradise is my favorite weekly show. Richard and Camille make a perfect duo. Love the show. Great actors.
The only brilliant there was and is Ben Miller. The show without him is so boring... Believe, I started to see the show in the season 4 (without him). When I discovered him, it was REALLY impossible to see them again. Only season 1 and 2 (and facfiction, of course) cause Ben Miller is Death in Paradise.
One of the most charming couples I've seen in my decades watching TV and the fact that their story was not only cut short, but so brutally and without any chance of it continuing off-camera, even if only in theory after Camille left for Paris is really one of my great disappointments. That he is not even out there for her to look up just breaks my heart.
@Kmalex, @cloe1704 and @all the other disappointed Richard/Camille fans: I totally agree with you that the way Richard was written out, was artistically an act of absolute barbarism and vandalism, if you look at the sublime and subtle way in which Richard and Camille's growing affection for each other was played out in series 1 and 2. The fans were a 100% entitled to feel deceived and even ridiculed by Richard's murder because for two years everything was done by the storytellers to make the audience feel deeply involved in the, during that long period, delicately and deliciously built-up Richard/Camille relationship, only to see that beautiful and beloved work of art then completely and intentionally crushed in an instant as under a muddy boot, by those same storytellers. For me it's like when after an absorbing and convincing exposé the writer or speaker suddenly ends with, as we say in Dutch: 'maar niet heus' ('but not really'), thus simply and harshly negating everything he wrote or said before with the premeditated intention to mock his audience for believing his story. But, in spite of that, I would like to say in defence of Robert Thorogood: we all know that this plot twist was basically not his choice, and that he had to write Ben Miller / Richard Poole out of the story anyway. I wonder: how else than in the way he did could he have done that convincingly without Richard brutally abandoning Camille and his budding romance with her? (Which, imho, would have been even more painful for us fans to see than what has happened now.) Are there fanfictions out there that have managed to resolve this satisfyingly without letting Richard stay on Saint Marie, so handling this the way Thorogood should have handled it? I was always expecting more between Camille and Richard. Later, Humphrey joined the team. He didn't have that chemistry with Camille but I started to accept the "romance" between Humph and Camille and all of a sudden, they sent Camille off!! Why?!!! Maybe they should turn it into something else, like a revolving fruit and vegetable display, or a children’s ride. Yeah they say this is paradise but they’ve got a funny idea of paradise, if it involves walking around in a hundred degree heat in the same pants for a fortnight! - DI Richard Poole
I find this serie interesting, but after Ben Miller leaving because he wants to see his children grow up, which is a understandable reason, the serie got quite uninteresting for me. With Mooney the serie got me again but not for long.
This takes me back to a different internet and a different streaming world. Was this show on Netflix? I think it was. Even the first season was practically new. Romance had not been replaced by politics. And I loved this fish out of water show so much.
Alright, after watching first two seasons I have something to say Killing him off was such a bad production choice. It's okay and totally reasonable that he had to leave because he had baby on the way, but to kill him off without ever having the chance to come back is a really stupid move on the production part, especially since he is loved so much and by so many Death in paradise fans (and count me in !!). Someone involved in making the show (I think producer, but it doesn't really matter who exactly said it) said that they wanted him to leave with a bang and that's why they killed him off and made him the focus of the murder investigation and his last episode, which I think is really just not well thought through. Imagine what a boom they would have made if they removed him from the show with some other excuse like maybe, he had to go back to London because his father died and now he wanted to spend some more time with his mom and to help her to cope with it, and make that the focus of his last episode. Like, his father is ill, he is in the hospital, they don't know if he will make it, and at the end they tell him he didn't make it, and now he wants to go home more than ever and he does go home and he and Camille and the rest of the crew (but he and Camille especially) have a long sad scene where they say their goodbyes, and there are tears everywhere (mostly by us fans) and that's the end of the Richard Pool. And then, after some time when Ben can afford to come back, they bring him back and they have this big reunion and everyone is happy, and fans are crying yet again, and they can continue where they left off. But they can't do that now since they've closed those doors. And God damn it that really sucks... 😢💔
This was a long ass comment but am I right or am I right?? They should have hired a fan to pitch them ideas for his departure it would have been so much better. Also, I haven't, and probably never will, watch the first episode of 3rd season where he dies. I can't. I'll just continue from the episode 2 or episode 3 with the new guy cause I'm in too deep and I can't stop with the show all together.
DiP will be remembered for suffering one of the worst decisions in the history of television regarding Richard Poole. They literally destroyed not only her character, but Camille's (they made her look really bad and she did not deserve it) but the rest of the characters. To this day I think they are not aware of the barbarity of their decision. It was not necessary to kill him. Own decision of people who do not think what they do.
I don't know if you will know it, but there are a series of books written by the creator of the series about Death in Paradise. There are four books and the protagonist is Richard Poole and the original team. I have one and it's very good, it follows the style of season 1 and 2. The titles are: A Meditation on murder; The killing of polly carter; Death knocks twice; and Murder in the Carribean. The books are in amazon. I recommend it to you!
@@marcrodri770 I know about those books and no doubt they are very good and funny indeed, but as I got it the fans of the Richard/Camille pairing, like My Chronicals, cloe1704 and myself, are totally left out in the cold by them: there seem to be no meaningful interactions and no chemistry whatsoever between Richard and Camille any more in them like there were in season 1 and 2 as shown in the clip and in the other clips about this 'ship' on RUclips.
Camille and Richard were the light and the sparkle of the show. After season two, although I liked Humphrey somehow, nothing really made sense to me. And I miss them a lot of course.
Luckily there are the fanfictions , because what the screenwriters of the series did with the characters that remained alive from seasons 1 and 2 has no name. Obviously it was not logical, was typical of people who destroyed the series and Camille and company. The fault is not theirs, but the "writers". It could not remain more false and aberrant. Killing Richard Poole was and is a tremendous mistake that made the "writers" do a very disservice to the characters that were left in the series. No one believed their friendship or their love anymore. In series, could not they have just transferred to the United Kingdom or was it very difficult? In the written stories the characters are more real, human, normal and, above all, credible. There yes (and not in seasons 3 and following) is where I believe the love and humanity of Camille, the intelligence and compassion of Richard and the sense of humor and fidelity and friendship of the other characters. There, yes. Death In Paradise of course is fantastic, but only, I repeat, seasons 1 and 2.
The actor who played Poole wanted to leave the show. So the writers had to remove him somehow. If not death, then so other way in which he wouldn't be there anymore. So you can't really blame the writers for that.
Of course I can. Death in NOT the only answer to all problems. Only for those that hasn´t got too much intelligence and hate the actor. I remember that they can´t kill Goodman. Again
Yeah they didn't have to kill him off, but they had to remove him from the series somehow, and any alternative method would have had the same result: Poole no longer being on the show.
They were wrong, as in Major Crime, Torchwood and many others. In the history of TV many characters have left the series, but they do not kill them. That is typical of writers without ideas, without creativity and without having any idea of how their work is done, with the help of less experienced producers, obviously. And I remind you again that this hateful resource has crushed (with justice) the series where they practice such a despicable resource. And, I repeat, why have not Marshall's character been killed? The case is exactly the same. This is not useful for me. (In the case of Marshall I would not have cared, I did not see the series anymore)
Cause they´re are idiots. I hate Humphrey and the others , forever!. Ben Miller was, is and will be the best DI (with difference). Only series 1 and 2. You must read fanfictions of Richard and Camille. They´re best writers that in the series, believe me.
lets imagine that richard isnt dead ... came to saint marie only to discover that camulle has left for france he go after her ... and they solve crime together in paris so we could have a serie calked dead in paris ... i love them and miss them .. 😭😭
It´s what I imagine too. Perfect and I´m (and lot of us) agree with you. You must read FanFiction Death In Paradise Richard and Camille. You´ll love this fanfictions. He (with Camille, of course) are VERY alive. Always.
You can find them writing in Google or Internet in general "Fan Fiction Death in Paradise Richard and Camille". You´ll have 2 ó 3 sites. You´ll find nearly 300 or more stories of them. But, be careful, you must read very well that in the stories will have ONLY Richard and Camille (They are nearly all of them, anyway).
I was looking forward to watching this show, I'm a sucker for a slowburn romantic story, but dear God I can't stand sad endings. Now knowing Richard is gonna die this is big NO for me. Just please tell me do they end up together and is he killed in the show? Like is there an episode about his murder or does he just disappear and in the next season it's explained that he died in an accident or something? If the answer to the first question is yes, and the answer for the second question is that it's explained in the next season then I might watch it. But if they are gonna give me a slowburn with not even a kiss that ends with murder than I'm gonna save myself from emotional breakdown and unfortunately will have to pass on this show
Okay, I did a quick search and looks like they don't share a kiss and he dies right at the beginning of the 1st episode of 3rd season... Damn.. But I wanna watch their relationship develope :( Maybe I'll watch just the first two seasons and act like it was cancelled and they lived happily ever after :'D

Worrel, there are more people like you (there are even some Camille/Humphrey clips on RUclips), but you're all wrong. 2:25 the best, she's having none of it! 😡
love death in paradise
A modern-day pride and prejudice. without the happy ending.
Camille is very charismatic and a on a totally different level, Florence is very bland
She is also beautiful
Has anyone else seen season 10? You know, THAT episode! It was sweet but wow did it hurt!
I cried so muchhh
I love Camille I wish she come back to death in paradise
Great series, love both seasons.
I love them.
I them so so so so so much
i miss these two sooooooooooo much 😭😭😭😭😭
I miss the gang.
I really do ship them hard!! 💜💜
Better than the Dead. There is too much dead in the world.
Why did they kill off Richard?
Always.
okay where can i find that ... i like the shy way poole is when camille is around
Damn.. But I wanna watch their relationship develope :(
Maybe I'll watch just the first two seasons and act like it was cancelled and they lived happily ever after :'D
@@sem6910 A little warning prepare for your heart to break, because this show while unintentionally is one of the saddest romance tv shows i have ever watched lol.
@@richardbug3094 Ahahahaha Jeeesus
I'm currently on 4th episode of the 2nd season :'D
Dear God this is such a sweet story my heart will burst.
But then again, they couldn't have known that Ben is gonna have a baby and leave a show. If they knew it earlier I bet the second season would be a whole lot different for Richard and Camille's relationship
@@sem6910 "Maybe I'll watch just the first two seasons and act like it was cancelled and they lived happily ever after." That's basically what I did. I started to watch S3 E1 and then decided I couldn't stomach it and turned it off. Now I'm reading the novels, which are written by the creator of the show and are great!
@@jayoungr Omg there are novels?? With Richard and Camille?? Can you give me their names?
"Ears aren't feet". 😂😂😂
What an amazing actor!
I miss Richard
I haven't seen the new session Of death in Paradise some reason covrd 19
Why did they have to kill him why why?
why these two never kiss
asking this question since 2013
The minor characters of this show match perfectly with those in the 1989 film The mighty quinn
Pourquoi je nebles vois pas au complet
does someone know what really happened on the back end, why Ben Miller wanted to leave the show? like maybe there are bigger reasons other than exhaustion
he leave the show because he had a new child
5:44
i watch every episode ,of season 1 on net flix ,i would of like to see richard an camille kiss ,i enjoy every episose ,
where is st marie ,,
why do all of these note initially that they are "full episodes" and aren't ............................. bait and switch - just saying
Season 3 was the worst season.
1) DI Poole dies
2) they just make it seem like a joke
They should have become a couple
I ship themmmmmm
Rember that scene where they slept together omg 🥺
Which do if the last clip from
THEYRE ARE BOTH BACK IN SEASON 10
Yes, but, as we have seen, as far as Richard is concerned sadly enough only in Camille's mind.
What episode is the snake scene from?
Try episode 7 series 1.
Laila Donoghue yes it’s episode 7 of season 1
I just cannot understand why Death in Paradise is allowed on Netflix America but not on Netflix India. Netflix are idiots.
Shankar Balan and not in netflix france
Coucou Couillousse that is seriously idiotic.
Considering this was shot in Guadaloupe which is after all an overseas dominion of France!
Shankar Balan yes it’s english and french, netflix has to put in all of netflix countries
Sara martins 😍
That or right Rushed he a police they are he not rud at all
cultist song ever
kutist song ever
LOL
i loved camille and humphrey more
Worrel omg no
Worrel, there are more people like you (there are even some Camille/Humphrey clips on RUclips), but you're all wrong. Camille was never really in love with Humphrey, but very much with Richard, the simple reason being that Humphrey was essentially a boy who was never a match for her, but Richard a man who was! Read this; it explains it far better than I ever could.
