True, but there's also the kind created when the humbucker isn't wax potted. That feedback will happen at higher volume with high gain even with your hands on the strings. The earlier models, like my flag one, has that problem. Another solution without changing the pickups is using a noise gate or compression pedal. I had a cousin in from out of state last weekend jam on it (the flag). Like me, he really liked the sound of the pickups, so he suggested that over changing them. The only hiccup in that is it can kill the sustain on notes. Thanks for the comment, and the subscription!
koool guitars brotha! ya theres great feedback(EVH proved that lol)that we love and squealy noise feedback that we hate... you proved that the newer updated pups are the sheet yay yaa!! ive been perving over the leo jammz LP models lately myself!
I got one for myself this Christmas. Mine has the same issue, the fret height is very thin making bar cords difficult. I don't know if they went to town on them when they were leveling them but you are right, it's a problem.
Cool axe, Eclipse! I dig that Leo Paul. I watch 6-String Stanger too. Have been for a while, and have been laughing all the way, with this obsession with these Leo Jaymz guitars. I've got 3 or 4 of them as well, and have had great luck. I have the Union Jack LP, the Union Jack Tele, and the Silver Sparkle Tele. I love all 3 of them. Killer guitars, for the $. Rock on! Subbed.
Thanks man! I just made a short playing the main riff to Beat It on multiple Leo Jaymz, IYV, Donner, and EART guitars that I have! ! Put a Leo Jaymz roasted maple with stainless steel frets neck on the flag strat that I start the video with. Absolutely love that guitar! I also had 2 of the first Tempests. I only say HAD, because I gave one to a cousin in December. I love Leo Jaymz guitars
Thanks for watching. Yes. If you haven't already, go back and look at the actual description photos on the new Tempests... they started changing them. Originally they ALL said stainless steel frets, last I checked the more expensive ones didn't, but the cheaper ones still did. As far as this model LP, there was always a loophole/glitch in the description... it says stainless steel STRINGS... HMMMMMMM.... BUT, I still love these LPs. Lol. I love the sharp point in the cuts, unlike actual Les Paul's. Thanks for watching bro!
Nice review Dan, I as well am very surprised at the quality of these Leo Jaymz. I think you're right that they do make subtle changes to them with each new batch. Have you noticed the headstock change of the American flag Strat model that Amazon is selling now? It's kind of a neat two tone black and natural finish, unlike mine which is all black with a white logo.
Ok, yeah. I just looked, and I see it has the headstock like the new Tempests. I'm not really a fan. I still have the original neck to mine, it had a Fender style one. They probably got in trouble. Lol. I actually like what people call the "beak" headstock, which is what the stainless has, and most Donner guitars. I really like it on the flag strat, because it gives it an American Eagle look to go with the flag.
I think you’ll really like the SG as it feels like a better quality build than my Strat. I did however replace the bridge on my SG, with the one by Guyker with the set screws. The saddles on the original bridge were a little wobbly and you could hear them click when doing bends.
@flash21502 thanks for that advice! I've seen some rough reviews on some red ones, which was my original choice before they made the flag SG. I only just got into the SG style guitar last July.
Thanks! Sorry I didn't see your comment until now! I need to learn some Cinderella! I'd probably be more drawn to the bluesy stuff on Long Cold Winter, but I really dig a lot of Heartbreak Station too!
How much does the guitar weigh, I'm into LPs that are lite,7-8lbs is cool, my chibson cherry burst LP is 8.6lbs feels exactly like a real one, blew away all my other budget LPs, I really want a red LP but I'm hoping for one in the 7 to 8 pound range, I know it's not going to be as good as my chibson, but I think the Leo is at least as good as my firefly or IYV LPs.
I wouldn't call a non-microphonic pickup an upgrade. It's more like luck of the draw when you buy $200 guitar with no QC. My leo james 2023 goldtop pickups were potted, but the pickup's treble sounded dull and unusable. As far as replacing microphonic pickups, get some beeswax and candle wax and dip them yourself. It will be done better than at a mass production factory and you might end up liking it.
Well, Leo Jaymz called it upgraded pickups, and I basically just agreed. As far as wax potting them myself... I just don't know. Thought about it, but just haven't found the time. Lol. Thanks for watching, and the advice.
I was going to purchase a new Tempest but I chose to check out the reviews first and they don't really sound much different than my Florescent Greenish Yellow Tempest, Now the Monsoon I am on the Fence for now.
I haven't bought a new Tempest because they don't have the stainless frets anymore, even though all of the early descriptions said that they did. The burle tops look cool, but not for $150 more with lower quality hardware and you really don't know what it will look like until you got it. The Monsoon needs to come in red wine... then I wouldn't be able to resist. Lol
I love all things skull 💀 ☠️ lol. Only reason I haven't bought one is because people keep telling me they are getting me one... I guess I should just get one, because what is wrong with ending up with 2? 😆
@BigBishop1 honestly, I don't think that there really is anymore, if ever. The flag guitar is the only one that I have that says deluxe. It had DeAddario strings and Grover marked tuning pegs. Unfortunately, I learned what microphonic pickups were with it. The frets DEFINITELY weren't stainless because they had some grit that I just played away..... couldn't do that with stainless. Sean at Scar My Guitar got a more recent one, and was certain it WAS stainless because of how hard it was to tweak the frets. Good question. I honestly think most brands just use it for marketing with very minor differences. I have a PRS SE marked Limited Custom and I honestly think it might be a cheaper finish than a standard because the binding isn't actually binding, it's just where they stained the wood instead. My Paul's signature SE is fuax bound the same way.
Yep. I don't hardly ever tune down anymore... then again I did jam stuff recently on videos in drop D. Maybe I should start doing that in my unboxing videos. I actually TRY to keep them under 20-30 minutes, without feeling rushed, but that probably should be part of it 🤔. Thanks for watching and asking!
No!!!! Lol. I want a skull, and I might want another LP at some point, but it's really the Flag collection that I want to complete. The new Tempests really disappointed me. I don't think that the "improvements" on those are anywhere near worth the price hike, if there were improvements at all really, considering that they first claimed to have stainless steel frets in ALL of them in the advertising photos, then admitted to Stanger that they weren't, while the Amazon adds for them still said they were. One changed fast, while others remained. I made a short about it around the time he did his review. That really left a bad taste in my mouth, but I still love the LPs.
Mine is flawless, and sounds better than my 1986 LP. The fretboard required a little polishing/cleaning, but I honestly prefer playing the Leo Jaymz. Easy decision tbh. Just return it if you don't like it.
Well as for feedback you have to silence the strings. That's how I learned. Great video, subscribed dude.

Nice axe, great unboxing and review playthrough. Sounds great 😎👍!
Thanks! It really is a BEAUTIFUL guitar! The pictures don't do it justice!
Suprised at the low price of those. Not bad for a decent lp. Anyhow thanks for the video and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!! Thanks for watching! Obviously I love the value for the price! Lol 😆

Hope you are feeling better, Sinus Crap is Pure Hell.
I am! Thanks!
Looks great. The frets have me curious about the various models and what determines if they get stainless or not. Thanks for the shout out brother!

No I hadn't. But I have considered getting another. Lol. After I get the SG and Tele. 😆 Pretty sure that SG has my name on it next. 😆

I've got a Jaymz LP Single Cut Deluxe cherry burst that I like alright. 🎸 (Did _not_ come w a gig bag!)
I don't think I've seen that one yet!

I was waiting for tone check kinda muddy.
Sorry, I slipped. I should outline my reviews better so I don't forget stuff like that. Good catch!
Metallica thru the neck pickup with reverb? Ok lol
Lol. Not trying to replicate the song, just showing the tones of the guitar pickups.
