These guys do recoveries, build stuff, fix stuff, and help others, what more could we possibly ask for?, awesome job guys, and thanks for sharing.
Mussel smuggling series would be awsome
Matt may have a little bigger tow truck, but the sound coming out of the tail pipes of your rig is top notch!👍🏻Keep up the awesome content
I think grandpa sherms tow truck was the best truck in those wrecker games
I think he needs stacks
Bloody impressive performance from a small truck. Just shows Matt size isn't everything lol
I agree, the exhaust sound from the rat rod wrecker is the best! Awesome!
@@jeremyclark7192 It needs a cummins.. sure would help keep that front end down
Rory would be proud of the "necessary" front dig. That guy was very fortunate that he didn't lose the whole shebang over the edge.
I'm guessing, He owes those Thanks to Friends or maybe Passersby, that came to his aid in securing the rig before help could arrive. Otherwise, call the insurance company....
@ dirkdejong8421 Well said, im quite sure he had to have some Advil and a change of pants.....
I bet that guy doesn't try to take his living room into a ridiculous place again.
The tow truck has come a long way. Grandpa sherm is definitely smiling. That thing is a beast! Well done guys.
Gotta give credit where credit is due!! Those two “helping hands” were putting in work!! They didn’t hesitate in the least to get in there and do what needed to happen!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Had flashbacks of a tank buried in a Korean river bed. Recovery took a whole day. You guys did a great job. Positive attitudes make a big difference. 👍👍
Heck of a recovery 👌 Maybe some drop down legs on the rear of the wrecker would help when only using the boom/ winches to lift. With legs seated firmly on the ground you could get full use of the hydraulics & winches, without giving up that much to the suspension. Just a thought 🤷♂️. Great video, keep em coming !
If the wrecker had a tow bar, like the roll back, that probably would have done the job of outriggers.
Hell of an idea, if he was smart, he would definitely give it some thought.
I was thinking the same thing even if they were just a set of manual outriggers, would definitely help!
Hydraulic spaded outriggers on swivels. Line them up against the load and set them in. This will give you a ‘Firmer Foundation’ and move your center of balance even farther to the rear, helping keep your nose on the ground.
Suck the boom in , it would have been an easy job. Inexperience showing big time
1st time watching this and my heart felt warm to see a son along side his dad, God bless you all!
I like to see Chases attention to the details on that pull , well done team 👍👍
What about for the front too? Less practical but I could see Paul just driving straight into that dirt hill to get the job done
Thank you guys. I have no idea what we would have done without your help. You guys are invaluable!
Hello, Paul I think you may need to make a spade attachment for the back of your wrecker that presses down on the ground so your front won't lift as much when pulling heavy loads.
I was thinking the same thing, he has the pto pump that was to slow for the winches. Would make a good down rigger.
NICE, I am always amazed just how much can be done with a small amount of equipment when in the right hands..
A certified mussel free episode right here.
Now this is funny.
😂😂😂😂😂
im not sure.....he didnt drive within 12 miles of water did he?????? them little buggers are fast and can re produce line of sight !!! Just ask the DNR
Best comment ever! I’m still laughing!!!!
Балдёж 👍🙂
Cool. Everyone at Fab Rats who has touched, removed, cut, welded on, drilled on, tapped on, reinstalled on, swapped on, upgraded on and customized on Grandpa Sherm's old wood truck to make it into what he always envisioned plus a lot more built one heck of a beast small off-road recovery wrecker...he WOULD BE very proud of what the ol' girl has become and how she is being used. Well done Paul and the Crew. ;)
Watching Paul use grandpa Sherman’s truck as he intended, living out and fulfilling his dads dream
It’s nice and meaningful not just production
This is a special family
Could you imagine if they would have redesigned the mount for the drawbar so it mounted higher so it wasn't in the way wheeling? Paul would have been able to drag it right over and get all the lift he wanted!
THE Artist...of Recovery! 😎😎😎😆😆💟💟💟👍👍💞💞
That was a tense recovery, good job boys. 👍🏻
Almost as bad as Matt’s recovery of a truck completely off the road, leaning at a 63 degree angle
Paul build an outrigger with a trailer jack that goes into the receiver hitch to help with the lifting
Great job..the back up crew worked top notch! Jace needs to be in more videos he was a great addition to this recovery.
Very nice job that looked difficult......The power of your wrecker and winch is killer
Great job, Paul! Brains over brawn on this one!! Loved hearing the Rat Rod Wrecker growling as it idled. It seemed to be saying..."I got this, just hook me up!"
That camper was just a touch over the edge I do believe.
Paul an Gang Y'all did an amazing job recovering this truck n camper ! Hopefully those folks had a much better day after that.
Thank You @fabrats for taking us along for the ride ! Stay safe out there and be Blessed Y'all ! ✌️❤️🙏
Paul you need to find some downriggers/ stabilizers from a backhoe and mount them on your truck to keep the bed from squatting down when lifting. Love your channel Russ
Paul I'm sorry to say that I think you need to watch a video on how to actually use a recker boom. Having your boom fully extended like that was the whole issue. All you had to do is bring your boom back down and keep it as low as possible and you would have had no trouble doing exactly what you wanted to do. Having your boom extended all the way like that is why your front wheels came off the ground as soon as you put any tension on those wenches. You were putting your leverage in the wrong place
This X2
Great job Paul on this technical recovery Bravo
Jace right there in the thick, pointing stuff out, addressing problems and getting it donw.
Very nice work.
You should add some stabilizer jacks to the back of the off road wrecker. I think it would make your footing more substantial in a situation like this.
I think everyone is proud of that old tow truck, very well built and it just puts in the work. Great job guys!
Learning the limits. Some repairs. Safe rescue. Just remember those head sets next time. Good for the extra set of eyes and help.
Thank-you Paul and the crew another great Video. 😊
Great recovery guys. The wrecker had her full, but she handled it like a champ.
Great job! It makes me think that that wrecker, needs a "PAW"!
A center rear outrigger with a massive foot, and claws?
You have a great hydraulic pump, under used?
Fold out, from below like a wreckers snatch rig.
Had to get that off my chest, love you all!
I love how Paul drips with cool confidence!
I've never seen a truck with a trailer pulled at the hitch like that before at 18:45. That was a pretty cool maneuver.
"I got a set of headsets, all charged up, left them sitting on the bench."
(What we're thinking.) "That's a great idea, that way they won't get lost!"
Also, make sure you thank Matt with a couple of cases of Dew to show your appreciation for his giving you the sliding down the hillside recovery!
Beat recovery to date that I have watched.
Best
Oh my gosh , nothing like watching an on the edge video before coffee, it's never boring when paul is involved and your son and those 2 guys know what there doing good video🎉
Paul how about adding a couple of hydraulic cylinder spades to the rear of the wrecker. It would do a couple of things, dig in and add extra pulling power and second prevent the wrecker from tipping. They could be attached in such a way, that they would pivot up to get out of the way when not needed, By nesting in some channel iron when turned down, it would add extra strength.
Man that rescue scared the crap out of me!!! Really nice job guys!!!
Shorten your boom Paul. That's called ' cantilevering. Long boom , less lifting power. Your extending boom is excellent but without front weights, you are like a crane without back boom weight. Your truck is amazing. I have a big truck with extending 40' boom and big Tulsa hydraulic winch. You did good with that much weight.
Paul and y'all did a Awesome recovery.
Grandpa Sherman to be happy and Paul you know he is watching over y'all
Nice work guys, the wrecker is performing so well!
That was cool. I love the sound of all your chevy motors. Healthy motors. Love it.
I think that's one where the weight of the heavy wrecker would have helped but I'll tell you what, Paul, Matt and Rory are formidable in the "thinking these rescues thru to conclusion" department. Great job!
I think it might have gone smoother if Paul had kept the boom retracted.
Extended cuts the useful load in half, giving the load more leverage over the weight of the fab rats wrecker
Dirty White Boys,
Get er done🤙🏻💯😎
Paul you’re honing an already impressive skill set at recoveries. That truck is awesome even with a light front end.
They may want to change the name on the trailer from "Light" to "Heavy".
Love the sound of the wrecker.
I love to see ya'll working so hard and getting things figured out. Well done Paul
Good job Paul 👍
Kin Folks pull together and get stuff done. Great video as usual Paul and crew.
Thanks again for the use of the tire gage and air hose when I came through Monday.
It’s amazing how you guys draw a crowd on your recovery’s
Lower the boom, reduce the height of the lever, get more stability, and keep up the good work,👍👍👍
Morning Fab RATS Family!!!
WOWZA!!! I can't even imagine the emotions those folks must have gone through when that beast started sliding off the road!!!
Great job by Paul and the crew!!!
Sherm was grinning from ear to ear about how well the tow truck performed!!! 😍😍
...You know he's proud!! 🙏😇🙏
Safe travels, friends ❤️❤️
Stay FROSTY...
Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel...

The wrecker is awesome. Have you guys ever thought of adding some stabilizer feet to the rear of the wrecker? Similar to what a backhoe has, to help from the back end of the wrecker when lifting and pulling in a stationary position like this job. Keep up the good work!
It's nice to see how attentive your son is, he has his mind on things and sees even the little things. He has learned a lot from his father and tries to support him fully. Great boy.
I was thinking the same thing. You should keep him as the cameraman I was impressed that he was always helpful and no snide remarks
TOTAL PROPS to Jase(?) BOTH him and his brothers have come a long way since vid 1. These boys are what "Born in the USA" is all about. Dad, Mom be PROUD!!!
I was just commenting the the same thing, he did a great job here, sumthin to be proud of.
Jason was making great observations and relaying great info to his pops. Well done.

RV manufacturers need to start putting recovery points on their trailers.
They would have to add thousands and thousands to the cost of
You had great help on that job Paul they were go getters and hard worker’s hats off to your help.
I was there and watched the whole trailer slide off. I thought we would be there all day but Paul and his crew got the trailer off the side of the mountain within 3 hours of it sliding off.
We all now know how bad the roads get with the rain
Good job there Paul & helper crew.
Incredible recovery with Gpa.
You should build some outriggers for the rear of the tow truck
Paul did a great job.😊😊😊😊
LOVE to hear the RAt ROD WRECKER running. Motor sounds AWSOME!
That exhaust is pure music
real people that are real awesome. Love your videos
Great recovery! Like the split-screen editing! Really an effort of cooperation and precision! Grandpa would be proud of that little wrecker!
Damn that tow truck is so cool! Handled that like a dream!
That is a testament to the build quality of the RRW. Even down with busted rad hose and it gets the job done and doesn’t leave you stranded.
Very nice pull back from the v edge recovery...Great help..
Nice editing, split-screen an' evathang! Seriously, great recovery and great video...
Awesome job with a lot of responsibility.
Great rescue. Suggestion on the use of the boom. I realize you were trying to lift the trailer, but a shorter boom would still do that, and the front of the truck would have more leverage over the boom. With the boom fully extended, the trailer had more leverage to tip the truck. So in the end I would try to use the shortest boom you can, so you have the most leverage pulling the load. Amazing truck.
Came to the comments to see this one!
Was blown away when they didn't realize boom retracted would not have lifted the front of the truck.
Bravo for spotting this and commenting!
your cooperation is amazing, your skills and your equipment, we can learn a lot from all of you, thank you
You're right, Grampa Sherm would be proud to see that wrecker successfully rescue those folks... ❣️
Everyone so calm considering, a good lesson. You all probably already thought about this but maybe some kind of outrigger setup off the back frame like a regular tow truck has for when it's squatting/sliding like that? Got it done without it anyway! Thanks for a great vid.
Ok, when I first saw it and you were looking it all over, I doubted whether the wrecker had enough weight/leverage to get that out, you proved me wrong! Good work Paul, you're the man!
Impressed with the strength of the chassis/crane/connection point.
Maybe have legs/outriggers that come down so the suspension doesn't compress when trying to lift with the crane.
Paul, I wasn't there so this is just from what I see but next time you might find it a little better to keep the boom as fully retracted as possible. That will keep it from rotating the front end up so easily. Again, I am not there but have run hydraulic boom wreckers many years ago. Not exactly in those situations though. LOL.
It's always going to be the one item that you didn't fix. Well you got it done , have a good week and count your blessings amen.
Great job building that wrecker. Thing is a beast!
Wrecker sounding mighty fine 🤩
Hilarious how big badass pickups are actualy usseles in situations.
Another , Fine example of good equipment , skill and Knowlege in action
Off Road Recovery is so important, Happy 4th of july people...😎💯✌
A great solution to a difficult problem.
Jase is so encouraging & has the wits & smarts, whateva the word is. It's great to see him as the camera man, glad Hunter taught him some skills LMBO 😂 just kidding. Jase is a pure natural and we love to see family working with family getting another family outta a sticky situation. Thanks for the content FAB RATS love it.
No problem for Fab Rats. Another job well done. Cool video to watch.
🎉🎉 congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 well done Paul
Where are your seatbelts?
GREAT job to y'all..... One heavy rig!!
Thanks for all the great videos - this one was a good use of the tow truck thanks FabRats!
It’s becoming apparent both you and Matt could use a form of ground anchor. Perhaps a gas powered auger that’s used to put in deck foundations. It’s a 2 or 3 inch thick steel post with its own auger head, just run it in and hook on.
The irony of Paul saying “yeah, that’s heavy” while the back of the trailer says…”Light”😂😂😂
I practically SHI💩 my pants just watching this video!!! Man your good because I though that rig was going to slide off the edge for sure. This guy never lost his cool while I was on the edge of my seat. I guess that’s why he’s the professional at what he does because he never broke a sweat while I damn near shi💩 my pants just watching.
The look of concentration on Paul’s face, regardless of the pucker factor.
Great job , but a note to the tow truck operator , the closer the boom head is to the truck , the higher the lifting capacity and the less chance of the front wheels lifting . I drove cranes for a few years in my younger days , it is all about the leverage due to distance from the pivot point . The closer to the pivot point the greater the leverage . In this case the pivot point is the rear wheels of the tow truck .
Nice work I see the old truck as performing very well
Pilot's use check lists, your work is just as important .A check list of things to take, i.e. Headsets, water, medic kits, etc.. Trying to be helpful cuz we love your show! Great video. Love the scenery!
Paul "it wasn't as bad as it looked" - everybody else there would have disagreed with you. I like the way Paul develops a plan and works it regardless...
