Yes most of the collieries are now razed to the ground.Just like gasworks,steel works,pottery kilns and northern mills. In their place we have tescos and sainsburys and car parks. This is NOT an improvement on the landscape ! This could be become a wonderful heritage site just like the Big Pit Iron furnace at Blaenavon in South Wales. Just needs some investment. Don't let them pull it down KEEP YOUR HISTORY !

The striking Kent miners will never be forgotten ...what heroes.
My grandfather Sidney Irons worked down that pit in the 40s & 50s, as did my uncle William Irons right up until it’s closure in 1987.
