Wow, you are very brave to take on the Dears. One thing you may not realize is that we Dears are not just reacting to the beauty, range, and technical skill of his voice, or his looks or dedication and education, we actually love him, sincerely and deeply as a human being. It's not like the craze someone would have over some fabulous rock star. Dimash as a person is incredibly kind and caring, compassionate, truly religious, respectful, decent, humble, and someone who works tirelessly for world peace and grieves for the state of the world. He's like a breath of fresh air. In addition, he actually changes peoples lives. I imagine well over half of his fans (and I am talking about millions) have had some sort of healing, life transforming reaction just from listening to his music. Hard to believe for you, I am sure, however it is absolutely true. Dimash himself is embarrassed when he hears this, and tries to downplay it. but many, many people think of him as angelic and describe his voice as a gift of God. I hope as you get to know more about Dimash you will be able to understand this a little, at least not be scornful and amused.

The 'tongue trills' as you refer to them are not for effect or decoration. Rolling the R's is part of pronunciation in the Kazakh language.
The Kobyz, or Kylkobyz, is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument popular among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. Its Kyrgyz variant is known as the Kyl-Kyyak. The Qobyz features two strings made of horsehair and a resonating cavity typically covered with goat leather.

The 2 stringed ancient instrument is the Kobyz played by Olzhas Qurmanbek, and yes definitely a master. This is a very serious song in his own language, Kazakh. There is an incredible and well done music video of this. I believe that this was one of the performances from his digital concert during Covid. If there are lyrics in front of him as he performs, then that is the same as what would be during any live concert. There's a lot for Dimash to pay attention to and he is careful and precise. He definitely knows the lyrics to this song easily in Kazakhstan. He is very intentional with his vocals. He completely knows what he is doing and why while performing. He sings constantly, he is highly trained his entire life. He practices no less than 3 hours every day and has since he was 3 - 5 yrs old. This is live concert but digital at a time when we were all sheltered. Thank you for your comments and reaction.

Dimash is a very talented young man, not a god! There will be times when his notes are not perfect, not often but on rare occasions. If you ever see Dimash watch his own video, occasionally he will screw up his face because he didn’t do that note the way he wanted to. His voice is so beautiful and unusual that we don’t care about those times. He still sings better than anyone else out there at this time! Dimash also get tired and worn like all human beings, especially after a concert because his concerts are usually about 3 hours long. He is absolutely exhausted by the end, but he still has to smile and greet people who want to meet and talk to him afterwards. This is the one of the most respectful, kindest, and modest young man you will ever meet! Can’t say tha about a lot of people in the business of entertainment these days! So be kind to our Dimash even he would still like you after your comments. Enjoy the music, too! 😊❤️

    • @EllaSilentDragon

I don’t understand either why he focuses so much on possible (or rather perceived) problems with the production instead of analyzing the great vocal technique. 😅
Sometimes we Dears are a little bit critical too, so I counted the statements to check, if we exaggerate. 😂
I summarized what he said at each pause: (some of it is a summary in my own words)
      - beautiful voice
      - there was post production
      - what’s he looking down at?
      - He might be looking at lyrics, but I don’t say that to criticize him
      - there it is again … i just wonder
      - breathy but consistent core tone (lovely sound) … but in the past there were different statements about that
      - lovely movement into the upper register
      - seriously…where is he looking at?
      - nice and clean
      - beautiful tone. Free and easy
      - doesn’t quite nail that. Not dead center
      - I love that tongue trill. Fantastic!
      - mmh modulation
      - where he missed the first time, he hits it the second time. Better support by leaning back? 🤔 Pinpoint accuracy
      - lovely transition and pretty arrangement
      - heavy rock drive. Cool
      - Who is the guy with the instrument? He is playing masterfully and it sounds beautiful
      - (about the qobyz:) listen to this phrasing 😊
      - don’t take offense: the highlight for me is the instrument, even though Dimash does a great job. Beautiful singing. But the instrument makes your heart melt.
      - we didn’t hear whistles tones: yay
      - the arrangement was really good
So there were a lot of compliments. But the positive parts were said in passing, just thrown in (except for Olzhas‘ qobyz-skills) and the most time he spent speaking was about the production, what Dimash was looking at, the note he supposedly didn’t hit, but hit later, and the qobyz.
It’s the focus we complain about. Not the words per se.
Well he improved since the first reaction. Baby steps I guess. 😅

@@isivaasanaru5643 For me the problem is him taking a whole live performance of a song, with many many beautiful notes sung by a master vocalist, and then not thoroughly analyzing it as a vocal coach, but focusing on tangents and ONE note that might be a little off (not even much off) in a live performance!
The critique is not direct, but I personally got a feeling from him of: yeah, couldn’t find any faults, it was quite nice, so let’s talk about something else. 😉
But you’re right there was little open criticism. So he did listen and is trying to change his attitude. And I like that. ☺️
And I agree, that Olzhas is a master instrumentalist! And the sound was awesome! ❤️

@@EllaSilentDragon I hear you. I truly believe that he thinks Dimash is one of the most impressive vocalists, BUT it's not really his jam. He admires Dimash for how technically superior he is, but he doesn't resonate with the way Dimash is singing, which is just his personal taste.
Because of this, I think he struggles to put Dimash in the same light as some other vocal coaches and some Dears find that offensive.
And, yes, it's very hard to find things to critique Dimash for, which I think is why he's a bit like: "There's not much to criticize, so I'll look and listen to other aspects of the performance." But to me that is not a negative, it's just how he chooses to listen/view this performance (maybe partly due to the fact that it doesn't resonate super well with him from the beginning).

Hello Dr Dan. I want to thank you for continuing this "complicated" relationship with us!😅 I do appreciate your gentleness combined with your fearlessness to speak what you think!😊
One thing I really admire about Dimash is the way he demonstrates vulnerability in so many of his choices. In this instance, he sings so softly and tenderly you could get the sense that he might lose control of cord closure and it's risky. However, as you continue to explore his performancesyou will hear it over and over and in many octaves proving that it's actually another highly developed technical skill, and it's beautiful. As for the kobyz, there is a phone recording of a practice session during which Dimash sings the instruments part because only the keyboardist and he were there. Astonishingly, he sounds just like the instrument!! Very cool.
I think you might like War And Peace - his composition or Battle of Memories or If I Never Breathe Again.
Thank you and hang in there!!!🤍😉

The prompter is always nearby when he uses it, and the font is LARGE due to his extreme myopia. He makes no attempt to conceal the prompter, hide his difficulties with remembering lyrics in foreign languages, nor keep it secret that he has a vision problem. I've never seen him have a lyric fail in Kazakh, or require the use of a prompter when singing in Kazakh. When there's no controversy about a performance, this reactor will manufacture one. Hola.

I seriously don’t know what you meant with: „he missed a note“ at that one part. 🤔
I trust you have more knowledge than me, but I can’t hear anything wrong. 😅
Other than the sound getting a little quieter that is, when he moves a little too much in front of the mic stand.
Usually he is quite good at moving the mic in sync with his body when he performs to keep it locked in front of his mouth. But with micstands we sometimes hear the sound fluctuate.
But I trust that you’re right and there was something wrong with the note. 😅
It just shows you that he is human and does make mistakes at live shows after who knows how many hours of singing. Even if it’s just one note. 😂
This concert was live streamed during the pandemic, so there weren’t many people there who could tell you what he was looking at unfortunately. But he does use monitors at concerts, even if he can’t see that well.
Many artists were involved in the stage design and production to cheer viewers up, who were stuck at home and in order to replace the live experience with beautiful artwork. So he might also be looking at the director.
Thank you for your reaction. It was a little critical of you, but I expected this. 😅😂
I really wonder what you say about people less skilled than him. 😳
I personally love his quiet and emotional songs very much. But I also wouldn’t want to miss the ultra high and low notes. ❤🥰
