My opinion is that covering the face is a very big command which should have been addressed explicitly in Quran but God has not used it while the word bossom has be used. There is also not explicit command from the prophet like such " women should cover their faces" This would have made covering face obligatory but they don't exist. There are narrations and application of women during their time who covered their faces and that is for sure. There are also narrations where faces were not covered. Their are difference of opinion as well among the scholars in this subject. I would refrain from saying it is fard. It is preferable for the east since their culture is acceptable to this idea and it would not be heavy on them to adopt it and not preferable for west since those people culture is opposite to this idea and by obligating hijab as fard would make Islam foreign to them and it would be an obstacle for people to accept Islam as religion as whole. This is mercy from Allah for the people. The reason there is a tradition from prophet that difference of opinion between companions is mercy from lord. This may help cover wide audience depending upon their god consciousness.
Another point I want to make is Hajj n umrah are excluded from face veling. It is logical to think that during hajj restrictions are imposed more rather than lifted. But women are allowed to uncover faces which make it a more of mustahab act or cultural act. One more thing should be added that face is point of identification for people to recognise each other. It is a sign of God that every face is different otherwise there would be no identification. If all women would be uncovered this would make interaction hard and identification would be problematic and it would not be easy to identify crimes committed by women or men would cover their faces and do some crimes under disguise of women.
Again this is my opinion and Allah knows better. Both the options are there and we hear and we obey and we ask for forgiveness

DO NOT MISLEAD PEOPLE. Ayesha (RA) and other Ummul-muminin (RA) are different from other women as per Quran Surah Ah-zab (30-33) and 53, which clearly says that they had to observe a curtain (Hijab) from others. Remember, that these portions start with advising prophet's wives that "they are not like other women" and talk about certain rules/conditions exclusive to prophet's wives like their crimes/virtues will get double punishment/reward respectively and that they cannot marry after becoming widow. The rule about hijab (curtain) was also one such additional requirement exclusively for them apart from regular insturctions for women found in Ahzab (59) and An-nur (31) which talks about jilbab(cloak) and Khimar (headscarf over bosoms) respectively. So do not cite example of Prophet's wifes (RA) to find dress code for normal women which is Khimar +Jilbab. FACE COVERING IS NOT PART OF IT. There are numerous hadiths about it including direct hadith from prophet (SA) telling us what is women's aurat.

    As Salam Walaikum...
Janaab agar chehera nahi dikhayenge to identify kese honge...
Hijab is ok so that no one Abuse you, but hiding the face is not directly written nor practicable...
Crime rates will boost if this happens...
Face is not only to make others desire it's an identity of a person.
    Whether man or woman
Covering body is for men too... Please elaborate on this also... Though everyone loves to take about women dresses what about men..???

being *muslims* we are not suppose to question Allah or try to fit in our own logic in His commands but we are simply obligated to obey His laws.
If not then at least admit our own negligence.

Jo chehra dhakti hain tau unn ki identity nahi hoti kya..... Ghar mein Aurat ka rehna pasand kya gaya hai....ghar mein mehram mardoon se tau aurat ka parda nahi hai...msla sirf tab aata hain jab bahir niklain then kon sa aisa mehram hai jo apni mehram whether sister wife mother aunt ko nahi pehchanta...mere ghar mein full parda hai even from my bhabhi still there is never an issue in that case... When you step towards Allah ...then he makes everything easy... Hope that answers the question..

Wese ye koi problematic issue nahi hai... isko issue bnaaya ja rha hai bas... lekin fir bhi Arab Countries ne iska solution nikaal liya hai... Agar driving checking k wqt police kisi lady ki checking krti hai to woh usse niqab utaarne ko nahi kehte balqi unka fingerprint scan kr leti h or fir us lady ki sab driving details police ko mil jaati hai... Or yahi formula banks me apnaaya ja rha hai... Bank employees fingerprint scan krte hain or saari details unhe mil jaati hai... Halaaki India me esa nahi hai... Yaha pr banks me ladies se niqab utar wa kr dekhte hai'n...

Here he is interpreting the verses, where there is no sign of the Face viel.
"She should not reveal her beauty and body parts except "illa Maa Zahra minha",that are already naturally open,(Face, hand, feets) and she should not reveal her beauty except those people who are close Family members etc.
There is no sign of face and hands, and Mehram & Non Mehram are not like Pet Sheeps and Wolves. One is the Family member and another is the Non Family Member,(Both are the Humans and Muslims),One has the relation of Faith and blood, with others has the relation of Faith, with Mehram she cannot Marry, with Non Mehram ,she can Marry.Pre Arabic people use to Marry with their step Mothers,Step sisters etc from the prenotion context of the Surah Nissa, those who were being prohibited for to marry were being married before in pre Arab(with the words Prohibited are for you Mother, daughter, sister etc etc than ending with,"What happen before that happened and Allah is the most benefiting and Forgiving),,that is why the filtration of Mahram and Non mehram was kept, and lot of historical events shows,Woman not wearing viel except some and talking and studying and teaching the Non Mehram brothers and even Fighting in wars with them.

World may have been a terribly unsafe place for women to go out when Holy Quran was written but now its a changed world.
So, accept the change and let your women go out. After all being born a women is not so big a crime to be jailed for whole lifetime or is it? Ask your conscience if you have one.

    • @faizan061989

The world is far unsafe place nowadays compared to when the Qur'an was revealed. The number of women getting raped and sexually exploited is increasing day by day especially in western countries. You can always search the stats on google.

I personally don't think that niqaab is necessary. Specially for working women such as doctors, teachers, nurse etc. How would your patients recognise you ?? You obviously not gonna put a name badge on your clothes always. All women look same in niqaab. Then how would people differentiate? Face is the identity of a human being. I don't think you need to face identity crisis for covering up yourself. The women who stay at home, it's okay if they do niqaab, as they don't need to deal with people. But it's really not acceptable for working women. They can easily go out with jilbab and head scarfs without covering their face. Simple!

whom u r talking to? are u talking about job n working women? so liten there are so many people on the comment box nd in real world who will tell u about the hadith which says “their homes are best place to stay for a woman” mean u r not allowed to go to office or college.. so ur concern is totally out of context

Mona Mona are you sick? Islam gave women freeedom and liberation and you are taking that line out of context telling it religious rule is a lie and also a sin! Islam permitted women to study work out of her home even after her marriage and no it is not modern because it is completely Islamic. Women of our Prophet’s time used to study and work. You better read the Quran and the history properly of our prophet’s time. And yes the best place for every single one of us is our homes or else where would it be. There are many places around the world so where will it be the best place? Definitely our homes. If it is only for women then what about the men? Is there best place is to stay outside of home? This is how you mistranslate and misinterpret a verse of the Quran. Astaghfirullah! And yes Sana is right. Niqab is unnecessary and also not our religious practice. It’s a girls choice to wear and their will be no sin written if she doesn’t wear it. This niqab takes our identity away which is ridiculous! May Allah forgive us all and guide us. Salam.
