Peter is a serial company founder (PayPal, Palantir), billionaire investor (first outside investor in Facebook and 100+ others), and author of "Zero to One." Peter’s first startup was PayPal, which he co-founded in 1998 and led to a $1.5 billion acquisition by eBay in 2002. He is now the Managing Partner at Founder’s Fund, a venture capital fund with $2 billion in assets. At LAUNCH festival 2015, Peter sat down with Jason and opened up about investing (as a contrarian and being right), monopolies and governments, why trends are overrated, how Elon Musk pulled off Tesla and SpaceX at the same time, whether we should be scared of Artificial Intelligence or not, should marijuana be legal, and what you should do if you hear the words “big data” and “cloud computing” during a pitch (hint: run!). I listen to Peters speeches over and over he is a very clever man, but the advertisements in this particular speech make me happy. I know some people think it is annoying but I love it
Thiel makes a really great point in that it is not simply about being contrarian. You also have to know the thing is true.
This recession is most likely the result of an external factor. For the first time in decades, the United States is losing its clout as a federal reserve currency. They don't have any more economies to use to control inflation, and less money is being spent on stock and oil trading than in the past. They all lend support to the idea that a new multilateral world order is in the works
Although it'll be a global recession, which is characterized by a decline in annual global per capital income, is relatively uncommon due to the faster growth rates of emerging markets like China, in comparison to developed economies. I have pulled out more than $340k from my bank. After all, the FDIC covers only up to $250,000, and the implosion could have bad effect. Looking to invest into the crypto and stock market now. wondering how I could go about it?

Great episode! You were right, many notes to take. I'm a new fan but I'm catching up quickly. Why the skepticism from Florida? I would agree with Peters absolute rule concept. Honestly, don't think it was too outrageous. My wife told me about an article she read of a gentleman working on AI who supposedly stated he didn't think humans were anything special and that the planet would be better off without us. Regardless of whether or not you believe that is true, the implication behind that is if he is successful with strong AI, it would almost undoubtedly be a different form than say Asimov's version of three laws protecting human life.

This was an amazing podcast. His views on the pot industry and how he explained the business aspects of something underground vs adopted wasn't something I gave thought to and a good example that applies to a lot of things. It is a very different way of thinking.
