    These ponds and lakes you fish are incredible. The interesting thing is you never see anyone else out there. Quality fish and no pressure is a good thing!

    Pro tip! Remember which direction they leave in after you release them. Sometimes they swim toward their home where there may more fish. If you only caught a few fish go in the direction they swim off in unless you know otherwise.

    Awesome video man! One thing, please invest in a spud bar for this early ice. Especially with cloudy ice like that. Could be 6" where you're standing, but only 2" a couple feet away.
    Remember, a hatchet only allows you to check the ice you're already standing on 👍
    Stay safe, we'd all like you to keep making these great videos 👍

    Scud-fed trout have the very best meat. That rainbow's meat looked amazing.
    Nice catches.

      Yep the more crustaceans the fish eat like scuds, the darker the color of the meat will be, and generally the more flavor it will have!

  • @ddhh6552
    @ddhh6552 9 месяцев назад

    If you leave the head on and snip it by the gills, you can bend it over the back and use it for a handle to pull on the skin. Sometimes when the skin gets slippery, i have grabbed it with a paper towel too and that seems to help. Great job on that sketchy ice too. I was a bit afraid for you. The fish were beautiful

    You should do a video where you make your own fishing rod out of natural things you find around you and try to catch a Trout! Also, you should do a video where you bring a subscriber with you and yall have a fish off.

    Also,
    I went trout fishing last month and caught 2-4lbs trout and ended up using the Japanese Ikejime method where you gut, bleed them, and then severe the spinal nerves with a wire.
    Then just fillet them and vacuum sealed them. Zero fish smell and the taste and flavor is just as amazing as when I caught them first week of November.
    Its diff a process but so worth it if you're planning on catching and keeping lots of fish!

    Great video! One thing that needs to be repeated is that white ice is NOT safer than black ice in most cases. Always spud your way out, and like you noticed, pay particularly close attention to changing ice conditions on your way out. Good job man!

    You pull the fish up too fast and they trash against the bottom of the ice. Make a bigger hole and put your rod tip down to them.
