The biggest problem I find with cycle paths in Glenrothes is finding the connecting parts from one cycle path to another. Some parts are very muddy also.
I find most shared cycle lane amusing. Would never use them if I wanted to get anywhere. But they make great practice for bike handling skills. Its the walking mobile zombies I find the biggest challenge. Even encountered a few where even a blast of the air horn hasnt worked.
I have an E-trike and one zombie guy almost walked right into me looking at his phone yesterday. I like the cycle path to the west of Glenrothes, I still have to find the other cycle paths going around Glenrothes.
You can see why people just dont use them or cycle at all. I use them when I can because I prefer going slower than being forced to go faster by drivers on busy roads. But these kind of paths are not good. Dangerous crossings, points you have to re-join the road, careless pedestrians, and cars pulling in and out of side roads.
I did not think he seemed to be going that fast. Saying that I would NOT go any faster than that. BUT I do prefer going slower near pedestrians because they often move out very suddenly without warning. What I meant by careless pedestrians is that they are in the cycling side of the lane, when the pedestrian side is marked on the left. I'm not sure why so many people do this? Is it mass confusion or carelessness that pedestrians want to walk on the cycling side of the white markings? [A good question NOT stated in Highway Code are cyclist allowed on the pedestrian side IF pedestrians are blocking the cycle way?]
I live here and they need to re-paint the path lines and road lines sometimes it looks like it's just a plain road, I could go on forever listing the things that need fixed in this town
Yep.... i share your pain lol. Good video.
I agree. You can see why more bikers dont use these kind of paths often.

Glad your cycling on the paths rather than the roads at least

careless pedestrians ? What about the cyclist who doesn't feel the need to slow down when he passed them very close on a shared cycle lane ?

If your interested I have uploaded some videos on how to overtake a pedestrian correctly. I'll comment a link to it here.

I noticed that today. Lots of cycle paths need painting. A worry for me as I was stopped by the police for driving on a footpath.
I tend to cycle on the road because everyone walks on the cycle paths anyway! GET OUT MY WAY B**** lol
Is there a speed limit on these shared cycle/walkways?
Then its not that when cyclist knocks down someone who is pushing a wheelchair just fuccks off afterward.
