    The seat belt brackets on the visors are for the shoulder straps. In the late 60s Mopars they were not retractable or auto adjusting, the brackets were there so you could store them up out of the way when not in use.

    • @jessepitt
      @jessepitt Год назад +1

      A lot of cars in that era used the same seatbelt setup.

    • @dandudeck1908

      Apparently the shoulder straps in the Charger had been removed somewhere along the way. Otherwise, you would have had to unhook them to get the visor off. My Dad's '69 Chrysler Newport still has the shoulder straps hooked up there. I don't think they every got unhooked, not even once.

    I went to the WDDetailing channel. The V on the front of the hood being silver means it originally had a 265 small block and not a 283. The V for a 283 was designated by a gold V. If it is the original, it will have an oil filter canister instead of a remote filter as the 55 version of the 265. Big improvement for filtering and oiling. Be aware, if you actually restore it and use the engine, you cannot upgrade to a camshaft without a slot on the rear jorunal without combining the 2 oil feed holes at the rear bearing tunnel. All tri-fives used the slotted cam. If upgraded as is, you will pay dearly for cutting off lubrication to upper end of the engine. It would be nice to see it restored and not turned into a retro mod. This car is one fantastic find. Danchuk is pretty much out of business. If you need restoration parts, Cars Inc. in MIchigan and Ol' 55 aka East Coast Chevy in PA are probably the best place to get new parts. Cars has the original pattern material for interiors and they stamp correct gauge sheet metal as well as fill in with some import metal. Your daughter is a real cutie.

      A lot of people don't realise that glass, all glass, gets more brittle as it ages. I have been handling using cutting glass since the mid 60's and often get people ask me to to cut or trim a piece of their own glass for them, this I do but always stress that it is at their own risk. With old glass I always warm it to at least room temp too. I was at the Glass and Glazing exhibition in Washington in the 80's and also been 5 times to exhibitions and glass factories in Germany.

    Hey Guys, I live in Indiana and love barn/field finds. Something to really look at is the undercarriage on that 57. The Midwest is heavy wet and nuts/bolts will be rusted beyond tight. The other issue we have is our grass grows high and traps the moisture against the belly. Have a blast on the road trip and be safe!

    The seat belt clip on the visor is for the shoulder harness storage the shoulder harness was separate from the lap belt and you could just wear your lap belt without the shoulder harness connected and the shoulder harness would be stored right along the bottom edge of the headliner clip into the visor clip it had a piece of elastic that kept it tight and a chrome wire hook to hold it in place it would be stored there and if you wanted to use the shoulder harness you would remove it and clip it into your lap belt

    Repaint it the factory color. There is a tag with the factory color in the engine bay. :) When I was young I had a 69 charger that needed a lot of work, but I didn't have the money. I left for the Air Force and didn't take it with me it was so messed up. The rear frame was bent over the rear axle, but it was equal on both side and it was still driveable but it looked bad. I remember sleeping in the back seat when I was too inebriated to drives, it was really big compared to today's cars. I can't wait to see the Charger finished.

    Yes that metal bracket on the sun visor is for the shoulder belt which is separate from the seat belt. The other end is attached to the ceiling. For the door glass technically they come out and back in as a single unit. I think you have it now but it's a pain. Or you can remove that rubber piece at the top of the quarter vent window and slide the main glass up past it

    The windshield rubber on a factory install uses 3m 08509 bedding compound on the bottom and 1/3 of the way up on both sides, and in both upper corners. They also used clear glass sealer between the glass and rubber in the lower and upper corners. Glass companies tend to use nothing or urethane and they always leak.

Rebuilt 440 and painted/reupholstered the original factory black. I still to this day, try to keep everything as original as possible. LS swaps etc. are not original and to me, updates with computer/relays/sensors just makes for more things to go wrong and cause problems.

Sure enough, he was. His wife said that he did that often. Jim said they can't be different colors. He had another pair just like them at home. He also didn't understand what all the fuss was about leaves turning color in the fall. He said they still looked the same to him. Obviously Hillbilly is also colorblind. The original color on that Charger is dark green metallic. A friend of mine had a 68 with a 383 and an automatic in the same green. He also had a 68 Roadrunner Hemi 4 speed in metallic blue that was featured in multiple magazines in the late 80s/early 90s. It was GREEN. F8 Ivy Green, to be precise.

    Thank you Robby and team. I’m sure keeping the original color will probably be the popular vote but I’m voting plum crazy purple or a general lee. Also all the change in the car I would be happy to purchase and add it to my collection . Thank you can’t wait for the next one.

    The 2.5 inch ropes will pull a loaded semi out of some insane conditions with a 4x4 Chevy Kodiak farm tractor whiskers I'm sure the 550 if you can get traction if you air the semi up a 77. K10 with a 454 will tow start a semi loaded with corn to get it empty unhooked and in the shop for a starter that failed I suggest a canvas tarp hung over the tailgate dragging the ground a little clamped to bedsides and tailgate enough you don't run over it backing up but keeps gravel from pelting the semi or you can take the fun shock value out of it and use another semi fun times handy rope around farms and truckstops I believe you're around both

    I would go back to the original color which looks like Dark Green... paint code F8.
    There are so many gray, white, black and silver cars all of the time anymore. I think Dark Green Metallic with a lot of clear would look gorgeous! Add the white R/T Bumble Bee stripe at the rear and a black or dark green vinyl roof to match. It would look tasteful and elegant.

    I like your black blue silver combo Robby so I think all of your rigs and give aways should have that scheme. I like the high gloss flat I see on some new cars, but your silver should always be the shiniest metallic silver or chrome. So some stripes or two tone on this suped up beast would be great and do everything you can to keep it from rusting again. 👽
