You've made my day Alan! I've had a Lamy Safari RB for several years that I basically never use because I hate the refill it came with, I never thought to try hacking it so it could take a G2 refill.
Yeah!: a bonus episode!; not familiar with Lamy; as you know, have quite small writing so prefer Japanese nibs but always fascinated to see other stuff:); btw thanks again for introducing me to Esterbrook J pen: prize of my collection: have bought new/old stock replacement 9550 EF nib just in case I accidentally drop my beloved pen: the replacement nib seems to be different design aesthetically from the one I’ve got(just to keep you up to date: refilled my Esterbrook sac with Pelikan königsblau, sac and pen seem to be working perfectly which is nothing short of spectacular: this is a >50y/o sac and it’s working perfectly - there are no words to adequately express my admiration for Esterbrook #utter.perfection!)
Thank you for such a thorough review of the Lamy 2000 family which I never knew existed apart from the fountain pen father. Best wishes Bob Major Adelaide South Australia.
I just purchased a new Lamy 2000 ballpoint today and it does have a spring on the top button. The button does bounce back when the ballpoint is extended and I can see a long thin spring inside a plastic tube where the metal button is mounted to when I unscrewed the top. IDK if Lamy updated the mechanism recently, but they did fix that small issue.
Great video. To the point and well paced and unlike another well known reviewer, you are more decisive. 😉 Want to get a 2000 rollerball and wonder about the comfort (I write a lot with rotring 600 and parker jotter) but adore the design of lamy and like the safari so will probably get anyways. Cheers!
I keep wondering about your handwriting. It really is a pleasure and entertaining to see your pen make moves I would never expect. I notice I am picking up some of your writing too. But on topic: the Lamy 2000 family is on my bucket list. For quite some time now .... Santa doesn’t seem to know
For Lamy 2000 family, I own FP, ball point and rollerball pen. The rollerball one, after changing to Pentel Energel 0.7mm refill, seems to best suit my taste. Writing is smooth and the grip is comfortable. Other than the Pentel, you can try Pilot G2, Zebra JF, Uni UMR-87, Muji gel ink refills etc with a spacer.
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review
THANK YOU, finally the hack i was looking for ... G2 refil to replace the not long lasting Lamy rollerball refill, Thanks again.
Interesting! I love my 2000 FP, and I must admit, was completely unaware of the other "family" members!

Purchased the Lamy 2000 rollerball. It's just beautiful!

Thanks, but I'm quite literally the last person whos handwriting you want to emulate.

Excellent video! Thank you very much. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
The push button on my ballpoint Lamy 200 has a spring of its own.
Mine is a bit of an older production.
Cool vid. Thanks.
Only thing missing is a Lamy 2000 stylus
Um, did you get this set from me, on FB? If so, SO COOL!
No, but they are still cool pens!
The whole family is nice... but what about the steel side of the family!
The steel side lives in the expensive part of town.
